- What do you get if you cross TH-cam's Most Boring Channel with TH-cam's most Polific EV Driving Fish 'n Chip Reviewer?! It's a collaboration jamboree!
Join me and my Jaguar as I drive to Iron Bridge to meet up with Lee aka The MacMaster to talk cars, food, conspiracies and everything in between.
First up we'll be enjoying a scenic run out in the Jaaaaag talking fuel economy, smart shirts and sunshine, before meeting up with Lee to indulge in some fish and chips (review will be on his channel!)
After lunch we take a look at the Taycan, discuss looks, money, practicality and more before going out for a drive... Will Geoff by TAKEN with the TAYCAN? There's some long form chat about how Lee became a TH-camr and some good old fashioned slow TV style conversation.
There's a quick dip in the river before climbing back into the Jaaaag for the run home. How does the Jag do on fuel economy over 100 miles, and would I rather take the Taycan or the Mondeo in a dress?

Your conclusions with regard to whether or not an electric car suites your needs is spot on. Let the market choose the path you take. For many people, who only use their car to go and from work and do the shopping, an EV is fine, providing you can home charge. For others, the freedom an ICE car gives you, is more appropriate. But there is the rub; the issue of 'FREEDOM'.

Good man! I fell down the rabbit hole in 2001 after the 2 buildings went down.
It's been a blessing and a nightmare all rolled into one.
Of course since then most of the information on the net has been pulled, so it's harder to substantiate the claims, and disinformation is rife.
My one piece of advice would be to trust your own instinct for the most part.

Great video. Been a subscribed to @TheMacMaster channel for a while, but found you after he mentioned your channel on one of his videos, and am now a subscriber here too. Great to see the two of you together, and enjoy your own 'boring' videos too. From a personal point of view, I see EV's as great for running about town and if you can charge them at home overnight, but for long(er) runs, you can't get away from an ICE vehicle, due to the inadequacies of the EV infrastucture.
So for me, I'll stick to ICE for the foreseeable.

EV's might be great on paper and as Lee says they are fast and nice to drive etc, but they are not great... not only is the infrastructure for charging poor, the batteries are rubbish, they take too long to charge, you would have thought by now the battery bods would have come up with better battery technology by now.
Great video you two guys , thoughts go out to Lee ,your a brave guy having a swim. I agree we should have a choice. As I see it due to the government putting a time limit on new ice it's forced battery companies to invest money into finding new cheaper battery chemistry that don't use Cobalt, lithium and Nickel.

Geoff, here's a point for you I had the same problem as Lee when I had run out of battery in our Renault Zoe back in 2011. The journey from Kent to Egham via Waitrose Slough (broken connection 2 times) via Hampton Wick (out of battery) where I was moved 500 yards to Waitrose to charge 1hr (or get a penalty). Renault recovery service contractor refused to take me to Renault Epsom, where there was a fast charger! Journey home from Epsom Renault no charge available closed 8 minutes prior to my arrival, sorry keys inside the building for the charger, use the app to get another point!
When I got to three of the recommended places, broken or not installed and I didn't have my bank card only cash and Renault charge card that wasn't good for most of the chargers; I was screwed big time each time I was charging 1 hr limit or less in the car parks.
Total journey time 8/9 hours: average range 18 miles supposed range 98 miles full charge, problem was not accepting the connection 75% of the time & very slow 3.5 & 7kw charge points. We had it for a bit over 8 months, and lost £5k; liked the ride, children liked the comfort, 100 mile range more like 75 even on a home charger overnight, solar panels at home too. Absolute shower to get the money back from SsE and the other company. Eventually the panel supplier went bust 2021 after 10 years!! Still hard to obtain readings and cash back now....Cheers Great collaboration video, yes we had a VW Touran diesel as well but of course Dieselgate, and we'd gone over the contract mileage period; then when we tried to sell it to VW, 68,000 miles in four years they didn't even offer us £6k, sold to a car buying website £8.6k bank account straight up. Petrol Volvo XC60 3l Turbo 4WD 2011 now, very nice, couldn't get a Volvo 850 T at the time! Only 35,000 miles when purchased 65,000 on clock.
Not going to make the mistake of electric vehicle again, hybrid maybe.

First time going up to Aviemore in our new 2.0litre diesel X Type after our old 2.0litre petrol X Type, I though the fuel gauge was stuck. It stayed on full for nearly a hundred miles. It was doing almost twice as many miles per gallon.
Ironbridge is a lovely place, not to far from Walsall, prefer your jag to the macmaster aaa battery option great vlog now subscribed, followed the macmaster for a few years.
So what we have learnt is that old diesels have amazing range well beyond what modern EURO 6 diesels can achieved.
Good video, I enjoy Lee's videos and agree and have said to evangelists that I've nothing against people wanting them but we should have the choice as they definitely have their place.
Exactly what I’ve been saying for ages let us the great British public make a choice not be railroaded into buying EVs

Porsche Taycan. I just learned that Taycan is a blend of two Turkish terms that mean "soul of a spirited young horse 🐴. " They don't mention that your spirited young horse has a range of 280 miles and it's soul needs to be plugged in every few hundred miles so you have to plan your trip.
I still think hybrid cars running on synthetic E-fuels and possibly hydrogen fuelled electric or combustion cars are the future for long journeys. I will say however BEV's are great for city and local short use. My uncle and aunt have a new style Toyota Yaris and for a little car it's pretty quick with the hybrid system on it compared to my mom's previous gen petrol Yaris.

@FullFatFact because they are against everything I love about the motor vehicle, and the regime that they are trying to install with these vehicles is what gets my back up the most.
Not to mention the cost of them, the running of them, the inconvenience of charging them, it's an absolute joke and the technology is no way ready at all.
Also annoys me how people think they are so righteous driving them, thinking they are saving the planet but they have absolutely no idea that they're making the planet worse.

I'd definitely go for the Jag, because an ev only does one thing better, flat out acceleration, and how many times do you do that in daily life? And the price for that is a total lack of character and emotion, so I'll stick to my V6 and V8 MG's as long as the government allows me.
If you do a new version of bullet car chase please remember they will have to stop halfway through to recharge the batteries. Keep up the good work 👍👍

You probably mentioned it, but what is the jag. The fuel consumption is impressive. Maybe I'll have one of them if I can afford it. I definitely prefer diesel now as they have come so far from the diesels I remember where 2000 RPM was all you got. Now they are brilliant. Electric is for toasters are video recorders, not cars.

I was looking to see if he had posted 😂 I'm a 7.5t wagon driver doing 100-200 miles a day,,50+ drops & collections, leave depot fully laden and return fully laden nearly 10 hours later, I have a lot of doubt that Electric powered trucks will replace diesel as quickly as the EVangelists believe. It's not only the charging infrastructure that's not in place but also the road system, 7.5t trucks are the largest vehicle you can use on the majority of roads and bridges in the rural areas. Any battery powered wagon is going to have an increase in its empty weight, so either its payload (mines 2.2t) will have to reduce to 700kg if the batteries weigh 1.5t or the maximum gross weight is increased to allow for the weight of the batteries. I've been over a lot of small bridges that are the only access to farms and villages and wouldn't fancy taking nearly 10t over them!
You should do those "official car" stickers for motorbikes.

I took my Hybrid car for a repair after a small pran local workshop said £300 to repair but when found out was Hybrid they wouldn't touch it, you need to have passed a training course....I later did get the car repaired and the estimate was £2500.....I'm dreading my next insurance quote. This will be worse for electric cars, infact if in a bad accident an electric car has to be quarantined incase it may suddenly blow. This is the stuff we are not getting told and it needs to be told. Its not a conspiracy it's real world stuff.
