I bought an '06 EX five years ago for $4K with only 120,000 miles. I replaced all the fluids including VTM-4 rear axle fluid. No rust issues here on the west coast so it looked like new underneath. Now have 155,000 and it still drives like a new car. The J35 is one of the best engines out there. Easy to maintain, I replaced the original timing belt and water pump with the Aisin kit in the driveway. Took about three hours. Change synthetic engine oil twice a year and do a trans drain and fill yearly. One of best cars I've ever owned. By the way I'm a retired auto mechanic and have always been a big fan of Honda and Acura.

I owned an 14 pilot and drove to 260k. Daughter drove it at college to 310k. Now in the hands of another college student we sold it to. Have a 15 pilot with 250k now and still going. Very maintenance driven cars especially the VTM4 fluid changes. If you keep them maintained, they last.

@@shadowman1992Most honda pilots can run 300k with just doing a timing job every 100k - 150k miles, no valve job needed. After 300k, yeah... probably.

I've had a bunch of Pilots. Great SUVs. Doing an engine swap in an 08 now, due to blown head gasket at 263k miles. The 05 is the main one to watch for radiator failing, and mixing coolant with trans fluid.

Mine is an 06 with 267k miles. Runs well. Has catalytic converter code occasionaly. Just delete woith code reader. Drive on. Suspension replaced two years ago. It gets 17 to 19 under all conditions. 19 at 80 mph.

07 Pilot EX 4WD with 159k miles here. My mom bought it brand new with like 8 miles off the lot in 2006. Owned it for 16 years then I bought it from her. Never had an issue or even a warning light till recently. Radiator went out and the hood latch broke. Got that fixed. Also finally got a new timing belt a few weeks ago. So I got peace of mind for quite a while. Still purrs like a kitten and even the transmission is still shifting good.

Wheel well rust on Hondas very common mid 2000s until they started slanting that rear body line to help some of the standing water/sand/salt to drain off. Also, passenger side usually worse as there's more sand/salt on the edge of the road vs the center of the road.

My sister & her husband have one of these, (same color too) They had the same rust spots by the rear arches; I fixed it by first cutting out the rust, then cutting out the replacement pieces from a new fender, then welding it in.

Very reliable vehicles. Just need to keep up with good maintenance and if you live in the rust belt, you have to go underneath scrap off any rust and apply rust protection paint in the rear subframe area because it tends to detach because of rust.
Also very important replace the PCV valve every 30k to avoid oil consumption on the 4WD version.
My 07 4WD just hit 161k miles I drive all over the north east. I replaced the radiator around 155k miles due to a minor leak.
At 159k miles I replaced the original’s rear-coil springs and front struts, front controls arms, and sway-bar links. It rides like butter again.

Early Pilots had transmission problems. Otherwise I don't think you can go wrong. I would go with a Tahoe/Yukon to '06. '07+ 5.3s has Death On Demand.

hondas never seem to let people down, i have a few questions, if you are five two super thin person, you mentioned "pain" or something to that effect" for one to two hr rides, do you have a recommendation as to which suv honda wise can handle such thing, second if you want to make it sporty, is it possible to i say change the engine with a more pweerful engine like a turbo, and what is the basic cost in total for repairs if you take care of them like this one, what are talking $$$$$? i love to make them last in 350,000 plus range, then part with it when the costs of repair is really screaming to me in the red like just leave it for a homeless person or any person need a car/

Hey Boss, Im In Need A Vehicle My Car Got Hit While it Was Parked Up I Had A 2013 Acura TL got it at about 109,000 miles and it lasted me for 4 years up until 189,000 extremely reliable but the cat converter was on its way out before it got into the accident.
After watching three of your review videos I don’t know what to get
    A 2007-2008 CRV, A 2013 Mazda CX5 or This Pilot
What do you believe would give me the most reliable without suspension problems and expensive repairs? Imma first time dad and this would be my first SUV/CUV
What do you feel would be the best choice for me
