  • Student first time attempt to Parallel Park on the BLIND SIDE. The KEY was being PATIENCE. Once the student got his trailer in the parking space, he used small pull-ups to get the tractor under the trailer. Straight in the Parallel Parking space.

      Yes man these school are mills man pumping so many students and I’m screwed I’m Confident only my air brakes, inspections, and straight line, offsets, alley dock, but about 70/100 sure on them as I encounter issues on my swinging of trailer in but I think it’s cuz the yard I’m at is super shitty and truck is crappy for that maneuver and small space. The truck for alley dock is 100% better full adjustable mirrors and seat.

    I'm in school in Illinois and I can say that this is by far the best detailed step by step instruction I have seen that is actually better than all of my teachers in school combined.
    My school never told me what I needed to do if I run into this problem , NEVER JUST TURN RIGHT, TURN LEFT and I kept asking them why ? This instructional video is the best explanation out of 176 videos that I have seen .
    Now I know what was missing and now I know how to adjust to any situation because of you

    Thank you sooooo much for all the videos you posted on parallel parking. I didn’t get to succeed on parallel parking AT ALL before I watched your videos. My instructors didn’t explain anything about seeing the middle cone, they instructed me how to fix the position of the truck case by cases but I didn’t know what I was doing or what the truck was doing when I was following their instructions. Nothing made sense in my brain and I was literally going nuts. When I saw your videos, I could see what I need to look for, and I could see how to fix the problem I was facing time to time because I had an idea what was going on with the truck. The next day I watched your video, I put the truck in the box without failure. Wish I found your videos sooner so I had more time to perfect my skill since my test is going to be this coming Saturday. But just wanted to thank you for helping me out, without your videos I would’ve been in despair going into the testing day.

      I'm sure you knocked it out! I thought I was prepared for my exam, but I was wrong. I went from a very bumpy dirt and gravel yard with no painted lines to a test site that's much smaller with painted lines. I failed my first attempt because I executed exactly what worked at my school perfectly over 100 times.... Found out the hard way my instructors didn't fully prepare us. That's my fault because I should have done outside research...and I was behind the wheel so it's on me to do this correct. Once I seen Steve's videos I immediately knew what adjustments had to be made. My school instructors had no advice to offer. I am patiently waiting for my next test date so I can apply what I learned here. I feel ready. Thank you.
      By the way...the day I tested had 5 people from my school test. All 5 failed. The following day we went 0 for 4.Over the next 5 days a total of 3 people passed. I told everyone about what I learned from these videos and showed them so we can all pass the exam next time.

I was close to the number 1 cone in the front. This caused the passenger side door to be right at the cone when it was time to bring the truck in the box with the trailer. There is some easy way to do parallel parking and easy to remember.
    Parking to the right: 1 turn left -look for landing gear,
    2.5 turn right- see slice of trailer tire,
    1.5 turn left - right side rear truck tire line up with front cone,
    1 turn right - look for landing gear,
    2.5 turn left- swing front of truck straight.
    Parking to the left. Opposite turns:
    1 turn right
    2.5 turn left
    1.5 turn right
    1 turn left
    2.5 turn right

      @@truckerstevecdlinstructor Trucker Steve sir.......you can now call me Trucker Fred. This morning I passed my CDL state exam. With the examiner that's notorious for failing everyone. Only 2 out of 18 attempts from my school last week passed so I respect how tough this is.
      Your video tutorials were such a huge help. I showed them to 5 of my classmates to help them. From your video I learned the one mistake where I failed and immediately seen how to fix it. (I backed too deep into the box and I didn't utilize my G.O.A.L when I wasn't 100% sure). Today was lined up perfect and backed up until my cone was at the fuel tank. Then I took a walk around my truck to see how much space I had left. After that I easily completed my maneuver and honked. Thank you for your tutorials. Are you talking about the set up? The left then the right. Some schools paint a big yellow DOT on the lower center of the landing leg frame. • @shanehayes9349
    @shanehayes9349 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I am really benefiting from your videos. I failed my fourth CDL test the other day in Texas and I'm really struggling with the parallel. Quick question, when you do the initial set up I've been told to line the bumper up to the cones, the back of the rear tires on the trailer, etc. I noticed you lined him up to the rear bumper. I'm still not 100% on what to do here. Also, I've been trained when making my cuts to use the landing gear (i.e. offset 50% center of landing gear/70-80% center of landing gear on parallel). However, trailers are different and landing gears are different. Your advice is much appreciated!

    • @truckerstevecdlinstructor
      @truckerstevecdlinstructor  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      When you do your initial set-up, your tractor and trailer should be straight. Now ask your self, how many cones do I have? If your tractor and trailer is straight and you can see the center cone or the rear of the trailer is heading to the center of the parking space - YOU ARE FEELING VERY GOOD! If you are not CENTER, FIX IT!! See more videos I have on fixing your set up. Now you need to back up straight - keeping the center cone or the trailer center in the lane. Put the trailer tire that is closer to you on the line.( the rear most tire needs to be over the line ) On the BLIND SIDE, You can see the tires and trailer clearly. Back up until your tractor tire or landing pad is on the line. Counter steer and back up until your trailer is parallel to the line. Hopefully you can get the tractor trailer in the box. If not, your trailer is in the BOX and 50% of your test is over. PATIENCE !! Lets get your tractor in the box. The video shows the driver making small pull up the counter steering and backing up under the trailer. Most of the time only one pull-up is needed. Be Patience and pass your test. Have your instructor help you determine how not to hit any cones in the rear.. I hope this is of help to you.. Steve

    • @truckerstevecdlinstructor
      @truckerstevecdlinstructor  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The trailer is 48 feet. The space is 12 feet wide. The length is from the rear bumper of the trailer ( at the rear cones). To the front bumper of the tractor, you add on 15 feet for the placement of the two front cones. That is your parking space. No matter the size of the tractor trailer, the parking space is 15 feet extra or more from the front bumper. As long as you can pull past the parking space, you will be okay on the length .
      Try to practice alley docking. All alleys are 12 feet wide.

      Put your trailer at the end of the

I'm constructing a mini model of the course for my 7 inch long trailer, which is roughly converted as every inch equalling 10 feet in real life, since between tractor and trailer in real life was about 70 feet (I measured the length with a rolling measurement device). So now that I'm converting every 10 feet to equal 1 full inch, since my toy tractor trailer is 7 inches and my real one is 70 feet, then adding 15 feet in real life would equal 1.5 inches in front of my toy truck.

I use the trailer tires on the line . ( we have clear lines like the DMV). What is important, is learning to read the Trailer wall and always having your mirrors properly aligned for you.

    • @truckerstevecdlinstructor
      @truckerstevecdlinstructor  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The K- Bar is called the ICC Bummer on the rear of a trailer. When backing into a dock , the trailer can be locked in and when on the road keep cars from going under the rear of the trailer. I never called it a K bar but that is easier then Saying ICC Bummer. You can use the K Bar, but I like the trailer tires on the line or close to the line. Until the students learn to read the trailer wall. Then we go to advance backing.

    Is there a limit of how many times you can pull up?

    • @truckerstevecdlinstructor
      @truckerstevecdlinstructor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most states give you 10 minutes to complete each skill. If you have zero points when you start your parallel park, you should have 12 points to work with. A pull up is a change of direction. Example- you back up than pull forward, that is a pull up. Note your first two pull ups are free ( no points). Some students do as many as six pull ups. Your third pull up is one point. Touching the boundary line on the right side is two points. So when backing up make sure you have the center cone Hope this is helpful. Most of my students start the parallel skill with no points. So the pull up’s are not an issue.

      When backing up, the rear of the trailer was ( left side) was going to the center of the alley. ( or the middle cone). The trailer drifted to to left ( he lost the center cone) putting the trailer close to the left of the alley. Not a big deal but the tractor was unable to get under the trailer and in the alley. So he did a small pull up to the right changing the angle of the tractor. Turning the steering wheel back to the left and slowly back under. If needed, he may need one more pull up. How many instructors per Students? 4. NUMBER of TRACTORS per students. 5. Does the CDL School test their own Students? (3 rd party testing site) 6. Look for REVIEWS of the CDL School. 7. If possible, talk to students attending the class now. 8. See if you can get a GOVERMENT GRANT. ( Free Training)

      Seats must be able to adjust. This would be a safety issue. The tractor cannot be used for a tester. You will need to have your mirrors adjusted for you. If your seat cannot be adjusted, your mirrors may not be properly adjusted for you. Your driving test will be unsafe if your seat is not properly adjusted.

    I have test in about 4 days, this video change my game! I was doing 45 angles to go from Left to right Parallel ...I do hard left -and hard Right ..to make the truck trailer straight ..so far so good, if I see one cone, I learned that I can go few feet to the Left and right to see 2 cons ..so far so good, I got all of this ..but when I hit that line with my left tire, I do hard right to bring the landing gear to the line also, so far so good, right?! ....problem starts at the end ..After you have done a hard right, you would expect to do a final hard left and in your mind, you would expect the tractor and trailer to be nice and straight in the box!right?🙄🙄Wrong,! I have put my tailor inside the box countless times but did not know how to straighten my trucktor , so I ended up pushing the trailer out this way and that way and messed up my whole operation, but this video thought me that if I manage to put the trailer inside the box, I would have to change the angle of the tractor to straighten the both ...good video, now I would not make that mistake ever again ..thank you for the video

      Hi Alan, Looks like you are testing at your Local MVA. 1, After you do your set up, Ask yourself how many cones do I have. Several videos on how to fix it. Just make sure you are backing to the center of the parking space. Its 12feet wide, you should have the center cone or 5 to 6 feet (rear of the parking space. Back up straight - you need to see the left and right trailer tires. Blind Side - put the left trailer tire on the line. You are going to split the tandem tires on the line. one set of tires in the box and the second set on the line. Now back the trailer in . Stop when the trailer is in the Parking Space and Parallel to the line. On the blind side, this is easy! look out the window. You may be able to back it in one move. If not, your trailer is now in the box - Now be PATIENCE ! Pull up to the right about 5 feet then back in with the hard left. You also need to know how to determine how much room is in the rear. Your instructors can help you with this. Also do you have GET OUT and LOOK ? Please check out all the videos on parallel parking. Tips on each one Sight Side that may be of help to you. Will try my best to help you, Steve

The center of the rear of the alley is 4 to 6 feet from the cones on the left or right of the alley. Through practice, you will good at knowing what a good set up looks like. Best to you Frank.
