I have this to say. I took my test 2 times and failed. Someone at my school recommended this video. I watched it for 2 days did everything that you said and looked for. Next time l took my test. BAM! Right in the box. I just want to say thank you
I was struggling with parallel parking up to the day before my test. I came across this video the day before yesterday and followed every step….. today I’m a CDL holder 💪🏽
Your breakdown of how to parallel park a tractor and trailer is by far the best I've watched. You demonstrated how a Drill Sergeant break down a task to the simplest form. Excellent Job!!! I am a CDL holder thanks to this video and other video taught by this genius gentleman.
I love how you say “if you don’t set up Properly you will still succeed.” To me it implies stick with it, don’t get angry, you will make it work with ease. Great advice.
My current instructors need to watch and teach this exactly this way. Thank the Lord I found your video and I’m ready to knock this outta the park tomorrow. Thank you sir!
I drove for 10 years but not recent.. It’s Been 10 years since I’ve driven.. Your video was so much help… Don’t think I could’ve done it without you… I watched lots of TH-cam videos before coming to yours.. None of them gave the kind of detail that your video does..I passed the test This morning… Thank you sir
I watched many, many videos of truck driving lessons. You are the best, most comprehensive, most accurate and the easiest to deliver the correct and useful information, thank you.
Thank you Mr. James for this video. It helped me pass my test on my 3rd try. I watched this video for days. I learned a lot from you in the class room and out the class room at Allstate.
So glad I found your videos and thank you very much sir I am going to take my test within the next 3 to 4 weeks I really cannot say enough about your detailed instructions you are THE MAN!
You are the best instructor I have seen yet! Your teaching style has given me so much insight on backing, that I couldn't even obtain from trucking school. I've been here in school 6 weeks and have not successfully completed any backing maneuver completely on my own. I can feel your patience from here. I really appreciate your knowledge and actually TEACHING, aside from safety, the number one thing a trucker needs to learn, and having different teaching styles to make sure your students actually LEARN and UNDERSTAND it. Now I'm studying your videos, preparing to take my test soon, i will let you know how I do.
James I wanted you to know that I got my CDL today in CO. I watched your training videos and they helped me a great deal to get relicensed. Keep up the great work. TY
I watched these videos, and his description is immaculate to help you achieve success doing the maneuvers. I applied everything he says and it works exactly like he says. Thanks
Your video is great! My CDL teacher just yells at all of us to "get under it" or "follow it in." We are not truckers (yet), we don't understand industry lingo. And, he is unable to use descriptive words (he was hired as a trainer 12 years ago, yet never received training in how to train). It's taken me 4 weeks to be able to put descriptive lingo to all his many trucker terms. Wish I would have found your video sooner! I test tomorrow.
Once again excellent. It does improve quick learning and skills. This man out has put honest hard work. School instructors don’t tell like this. God bless your man.
OMG!! I've saved subscribed 2 ur channel. U r so patient, informative, rgt on point with ur instructions. Need more trainers like u. I can take this knowledge, use it & pass my offset & parallel parking. Who could not pass there skills after watching this video. 👍👍👍👌👌👌. Wish I could have hired u as my personal trainer. Thxs 4 the excellence demonstration
Today I passed my exam the truth is that James Walter is an excellent instructor the one at my school does not reach his level of explaining so clearly the truth was that he applied his knowledge and passed subscribed an like
Thanks for the video! When you first began the test, you turned the wheel to the left to make the trailer go right, at what position or angle did you stop the tractor before turning the wheel to the right to get the tractor straight? I look forward to receiving your answer! Thanks!
You are right 100% . People can't see that "steer all the way to left" I failed today because of same shit, bus was parked in front of my parking space and i could not steer all the way to the left, that changed everything and i didn't make it☹
James, Thanks again for the excellent ideas. I'd love it if you could give me a couple more tips. I'll be starting my driver training soon, and when I test will only be allowed to "Get out and Look" twice. If I use your checkpoint ideas, when should those two times be. Also, when I pull past the spot, is it fairly easy to see where your back tires are in relation to the front cones, by looking in your mirror? Any tricks to use to know where the back of the truck is??
My biggest problem has been my set up. Wen I’m coming out the offset lane I haven’t learned to set the truck straight while also starting 1-4 feet from the parallel cone
When he makes the 1st left isn't he making contact with the make believe tractor infront. Soo much emphases on the make believe bumper but not the tractor. Right or wrong?
LInes. LOL. The CDL School I went to didn't have any lines on the range. Their driving range was a dirt parking lot. About 3/4 of the way through the class I dropped out. Fighting for a refund on the money I spent on the class now.
This instructor at CR England I had today, complicated the heck out of a parallel I did. He walk me through a set up where I had to pull 2 or 3 times. Honest to heaven, I could have done an easier and much better job without him. I did 2 days in a row previous to this time with him. He ruined it for me and I was upset frustrated because I know for a fact it should not have as complicated as his way was. My spirit was boiling and I was Livid considering how pissed off he had me for ruining my opportunity for the day. It was such a disappointment for me, I WAS DONE, and I refused to do another Backing the rest of the day. Uuugh!!!!!😤 Whew!!!!😮🙁
I don't see how that can work. If there was a truck in front and in back, when you did the first turn in the back, you hit the truck in front. See 2:33.
True but that’s how you do it on the test. In the the real world you would pull up to the left and angle your trailer towards the place before you start.
This is fantastic but what can I do if my tractor have 1 set of tires before my landing gear? To be more detailed my drive tire only have 1 set of tires and my trailer have 1 set of tires which is on the rear of the tractor , Because of this I have just the landing gear for a reference point thanlyou Sir.
Taking my 5th test...yes 5th hopefully soon. What if you don't have lines on the course? I'm assuming I'll have to gage it and "make" an imaginary line. Thanks for the info...very helpful.
Mr. Walter's, my name is Isaac and I just completed cdl school. I wish I would of learned from you because my school didnt teach me these setups that you teach on the offset or parallel at all. I wish I could talk to you sometime.
I'm going to apply this method my instructors won't get in the truck and show us how to do the maneuvers properly. They just give instructions and tell us to go.
You should open more schools to help the people who need help and make money at the same time. You’re the best. Just one thing in your TH-cam that you should make change which is you parked a identical tractor trailer right next to the one you’re demonstrating ! No confusing ad. Please.
quarkSquark I was just thinking the same thing. I'm just thinking about getting my CDL, so I'm very new at this. I've been watching a lot of on line videos. When I first watched this I thought it made a lot of sense, but I just noticed the same thing you saw. James Walter, can you reply?? Thanks! I've enjoyed watching your video's
damn just reading commments im in school now and am having hard time with it our trucks are shitty but i will try...lol we dont even have that line for the passenger rear of the box but i can imagine it and nail it thanks for video
I wish my school and test site had lines like these... they don't, just cones. I take my test in 2 weeks.
*****update******
Thank you sir. I applied your techniques this morning and now I’m a Class A CDL holder!!!!!!!
Your breakdown of how to parallel park a tractor and trailer is by far the best I've watched. You demonstrated how a Drill Sergeant break down a task to the simplest form. Excellent Job!!! I am a CDL holder thanks to this video and other video taught by this genius gentleman.

This instructor is the best instructor I just pass my manuever watching this video perfect teaching

Good instructor and teacher at the same time
You're a great trainer!!!
This is a most excellent demonstration!!! Even though it being a sleeper cab gave a bit difference-I am having my light bulb moment 🥳🤩🥳🤩🥳🥰👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🥂🎳
When the instructor says he is going to turn the wheel in an angle on minute 2:21 that means one full turn or a hard steer turn?
2:45 you just hit the truck in front of the spot your trying to enter. Great example 🤣🤣
You are right 100% .
People can't see that "steer all the way to left"
I failed today because of same shit, bus was parked in front of my parking space and i could not steer all the way to the left, that changed everything and i didn't make it☹
Great video and good luck guys ,Wait until you get into a lot and both truck are forward than normal ! there are no line out there in the real world
your a great instructor, thank you
Your are a TRUE INSTRUCTOR, your breakdown is Barney proof
James, Thanks again for the excellent ideas. I'd love it if you could give me a couple more tips. This is exactly how I learn. I need someone to break everything down to me.
Man THANK YOU SIR ! I got my drive test in Gardena California on may 20,
Great information! Thank you!! Could this also be done with a pup truck?
Will this method work with any length tractor trailer?
This explanation is on point. Thank you.
Awesome video. Much like an off set!

Damn, he explained every aspect.
