I really hate my internet when it does eerie shit like this. I've been dealing with mental health problems for awhile now, and today I had a psychiatrist appointment. My youtube on my tv buffered and froze leaving me staring at this 1:33:11 Right after he walks into the room that says "How to love yourself properly"
librarian, i just want to tell you i really appreciate your Gmod VR videos. when there’s nothing to watch or i start to grow bored i come straight to your videos. i enjoy your commentary and your note on things that others wouldn’t see or couldn’t piece together. even if you stop making videos ill always come back and appreciate the nostalgia you gave me for a good year now. keep it the great videos👍👍
This is actually one of the few Gmod horror maps that have truly unnerved me. The nipper-esque map design mixed with just the feeling of dread and feeling like you're always being watched and my gosh the "over here" voice that gets used makes me jump a little everytime. I wish the workshop was filled with more maps like these.
that "nostalgic song" is a chiptune cover of The Extreme, the final boss theme from FF8 - but, interestingly, only the intro segment. it very obviously loops right as the actual battle song would normally kick in, which adds an extra jarring layer to the whole segment.
this dev uses a lot of music and sounds from Yume Nikki, and if you haven't pointed that out already then I assume you've never played it. Which is INSANE considering your interest in these surreal maps. (Source: my months long Yume Nikki phase in 2021)
This map seems to take a lot of inspiration from Yume Nikki, there's even the same stock sound effects and ambient music from it. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised he hasn't made a video about that game. After playing through this map, I believe he would probably enjoy it if he hasn't tried it yet.
The start reminds me of the very first horror game I played. I was prolly just 7 at the time and can barely recall what game it was, but it was one of those that would scare you at the very start. Since then, I'd almost always get "stuck" in the first level of any horror game, lol. It was Resident Evil 2 on the Dreamcast when I finally decided to suck it up to enjoy a well-received game.
This map feels like a long, horror dream, or maybe a coma, that a teenager would see after an attempt of you know what. Or like the author needs a therapist. Maybe both.
For whatever reason, the black level of this video is raised a bit, making it a bit less spooky than it could be without readjusting it. I installed and played this map when I saw this video and unfortunately I got softlocked, hopefully the same thing doesn't happen to you. Pretty much everything you did, happened to me too, except the chair didn't kill me thankfully. I think I had enough health and suit, you might've just been taking chip damage until a small thing like that killed you.. :p You really overthought the "math" problem. It's just a sequencing problem. It showed ?, X, Y, X which refers to which array to pick from, and the 3rd item in Y being the same as in ?, ?, 4, ? indicating that it's which to pick from, it could either be XXYX or YXYX. I'm glad I didn't overthink this otherwise I would've gotten super stuck. The colors are totally a red herring. I hated the inverted pyramid section. That sucked. It wouldn't be bad if the puzzle wasn't determining which platforms were just close enough versus just far enough and forced damage for getting something that subtle wrong. I hated that underwater section. Something which should've been a somewhat obvious opening was in a far off corner that required just scanning all the walls until you found it. That's where I got the most stuck. Looks like you were missing some visual overlays. One of the doors tells you to wait then tells you when you can open it. I did miserably at the hangman, but it looks like it was bugged out for you. normally it didn't add bod parts each time. Looks like the same thing happened to you after entering the mouth. It feels like a softlock. I've noticed a bit of a theme with your uploads recently.
oh man... this map... I wish I couldn't say I haven't been in that dark place myself, but I have. I understand this map, this feeling. Its... almost healing in a way to see it portrayed in a safe environment like this.
Is it me or are you 1) Playing up the scares like we’re back to 2015 yt 2) Sound considerably gayer than you did (No offence meant, just an observation. For sure meant offence on the first point tho bruv thinks he’s pewdiepie or something.)
Maybe this map freaked him out more than usual. The reason that The Librarian sounds like a gay man is because the voice in the video which is The Librarian is a gay man. I think
You know, it's funny, I've never seen Officer Flatscreen and The Librarian in the same room..
*nono he's got a point..*
🤔 you might be onto something.
Stay away from my pet
@OfficialSalad21 You're thinking of two different things bud.

I've realised that in the moments when it would say over here that representing the negative thoughts of the character, it's a very clever map,

This is the wildest, weirdest VR game I've seen so far. Gotta try it sometime.

Yeah especially the desert area it’s giving me nightmare in Vegas and that one part in saint Francis folly feels.
