  • Gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘trailer sailor’ 50 foot plus fishing boats at Castlepoint Wairarapa New Zealand loading themselves onto their tractor trailers. This is officially the windiest place in New Zealand, truly wild.

I'll usually add a bit of garlic salt to the dish it improves the after-taste.

I was impressed that the boat seemed to drive the trailer to the shore…..and then it emerged from the water! 😮🤯

They are actually very big boats and tractor trailers. Look and see if I’ve posted any other videos of Castlepoint, as close up, you realise just how big they are. No wharfs for a vast distance so all the boats there and on the south Wellington coast (Ngawi) are launched by these giant tractors.

I’ve checked and I’ve done another video that’s just called Castlepoint Lighthouse NZ. You can see the boats and trailers parked up on the beach in the distance with people and four-wheel-drive near them to give some perspective. Also checking my close-up photos where very large four-wheel drives are parked next to them, I estimate the trailers Between 20 and 25 m long, and very tall.
These truly are large, heavy boats. Worth checking out on Google.

You aussies love a contraption... saw a similar thing in Cairns, this guy loaded his boat (tinny) on to the roof of his land cruiser using a skip lorry type hoist welded to the door cills and chassis he then got into the boat via the boot. Didn't get his feet wet.

It’s NZ !!! These are actually very large fishing boats. There are no wharfs for vast distances around Castlepoint and the Wellington South coast at Ngawi so all the fishing boats are launched from very large tractor trailers. I’ve got plenty of photos of them on the beach with large four-wheel drives next to them and they tower over them. Looking at my photos I estimate most of the trailers are approximately 20 to 25 m long. And very high.!

Oh Dear... you've done it now! Calling a "Kiwi" an "Aussie" is about the same a calling a Canadian a "Yankie", or calling a Scotsman a "Limey".
Sadly for you, if you ever try to visit our beautiful country you will most likely be turned back at the border!

Luckily, my last two visits have been beautiful, calm weather. It was just windy right up at the lighthouse.

Castlepoint is actually the windiest place in New Zealand. This day was about as calm as you could get down on the beaches, but up at the Lighthouse it’s always windy.
