you need get new main springs put in that before winding it and a new suspension rod too and i have fiddle with my sessions if i move it it always goes out of beat if i move it do you know why
due to how rusty the springs are, is it very hard and grainy to wind? also sorry, when i was watching i was in a car and couldn’t here what you were saying.
indeed yes, the movement will infact go kaboom if you loosen the nuts too far, i used to have a crappily made german souvenir clock thing which came in a giant box of clocks, whilst sitting on my workdesk one of the bolts holding it together snapped, that was unpleasant
do you own a spring un winder? they are about $15, all you have to do is hold it tight, un clip the click (ratchet that prevents spring from unwinding and holds the arbor in place so it doesn’t go kaboom) hold it tight, and slowly let it spin and unwind, you also have to purchase a spring clamp so when you unwind it, it holds the spring. i’ve owned my tools for a few years now, and the letdown tool is very reliable.

Are you talking about a letdown key? I have one and i have 2 sets of mainspring clamps.
activetruman yes. that’s good. that’s the most useful tool you can have.
Be careful with Mainsprings. They can explode if you take the movement apart without using spring clamps.
