Ian Hill's bass intro to this song was an important reason why I decided to become a bassist back in the day. Excepting the theme from "Jaws", no two notes ever sounded so ominous and menacing. Speaking of which, these days Ian Hill is finally getting more recognition than ever, simply for being the most reliable constant of all Judas Priest's original members. They have gone through countless drummers (though their current one, American Scott Travis, have been with them for 35 years now, since 1989). Singer Rob Halford is obviously still there, but he was out of the band from 1992 to 2003 so he's not a constant. Guitarist KK Downing jumped ship in 2011 - which he has since bitterly regretted, given the absolutely amazing career elevation Judas Priest have enjoyed since his departure, their two most recent albums both being #1 hits all over the world, and the band have rejected all his increasingly undignified pleas and campaigns to take him back. Second guitarist Glenn Tipton remains part of the band, but only in a writing and studio capacity since his Parkinson's disease prevents him from performing more than the occasional song live. Making Ian Hill the only literally ever-present member in Judas Priest history. To the direct question why he has always been so loyal and devoted to this band and this band only, Ian gave the simple but heartfelt answer: "Because I never wanted to be anything else than the bass player of Judas Priest." Ian Hill is a true class act. We fans love him.
This came out in 1984, I remember it well cause I buyed it on vinyl back then and on the bus back home I had to study the innersleve carefully, reading lyrics and stuff. One of the few early Judas Priest videos showing the face of the bass player Ian Hill (beard), who was married to Robs sister back then. Ian are the founding member of Judas Priest, but the least known. Great reaction ladies ❤
@dalewalker5845 Oh please don't call it hair metal. That was originally meant in a derogatory fashion. The genre is heavy metal with sub genres of different names such as thrash metal, power metal, NWOBM (Maiden, priest, ect...) symphonic metal, and glam metal.
You know it was a trip 10 semi trucks loaded with stage props could you imagine how long it took to set that stage up was only 22 when that tour hit the road
This is a great video, there is two guitarists and one bass player with Name Ian Hill and he has been with the band from the start, or at least since 70-71 or something like this, he is well over 70 years old by now I think. so in this video we saw a little of K.K Downing who is the blonde guitarist who have been with Judas Priest from the beginning also, and then we saw just little of Glenn Tipton, the drummer is Dave Holland who was the drummer during the time when Judas Priest was really big 1979-1990 or something like that. This song was first released on the Album Defenders of the Faith back in.. hmm 1984 I think. I really like this song. Thanks for a great reaction, you guys are the best :D
This song seems to have faded into obscurity over the years, but back in 1984 when this album came out it was by far the most well known song on it, the hard rock stations played the hell out of it. I still love this song, it is simple but effective, another great classic in their library of metal greatness. 🤘
To answer the important question Glenn Tipton is usually in the red leather pants 😂. Id like to recommend Judas Priest’s Riding on the Wind Live Vengeance 82 and The Sentinel (Live), the older 12 year ago posted link. October they will be in Dallas and tickets are cheaper than most bands out there; go see them!
Red britches, Its red britches, come on man😂 Donna wants Robs high pitch you need to listen to Sinner from Live Vengeance. KK has some great shredding on this song. Desert Plains from same concert is also great! If want something completely different from JP react to The Last Rose of Summer form Sin After Sin album! You will be absolutely shocked hearing Rob sing this song.
I think I recall this playing on the VA Beach rock station, so I decided to check. AI Overview- Yes, "Rock Hard Ride Free" by Judas Priest was a radio hit
Ian Hill is the bass player with the mesh shirt he always stays in one place during the concert never really moves around that much that's why you haven't noticed him probably haha
Great song about a vampire biting someone at night, I love JUDAS PRIEST I saw this concert at MSG N.Y. with IRON MAIDEN warming up a fantastic show as always keep on rocking ladies 🤟
Priest!!! They killed it, every album and tour from the 70s and 80s, original band are gold. They are one of the very best classic metal bands after Black Sabbath. They have tons to react to, do Victim of Changes, the studio audio mix is perfect, do that first, it will freak you ladies out! Then do it live in 1983/84, either video kills it. Saw them 9 times, twice point blank, a few feet away from Rob Halford, sweating profusely, working it and the band all but sawing our heads off with some of the loudest concerts I have ever been to. Maximum, clean volume is a drug by itself IF the right band is playing. They were always the right band for me. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥
That was one of my all time favorite concerts I've ever seen. The Transformer looking thing on the cover started moving around on the stage and when it lifted its arm, Rob came riding out on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Great White(when they were a metal band)opened the show.
When I seen these Guys on their Defenders of the Faith Tour, They opened the Show with Love Bites (and Outdoor Show) and....OMG....when the Bass Rolled on it was like Thunder....the sound was so intense it felt Like Waves of Thunder, Rattling my Rib Cage, I thought we were having an Earthquake and my Ear Drums were going to explode! "Heavy Duty" next please...
Hello lovely family. a tip check out Yngwie Malmsteen from Sweden of course. He's been living in Florida for a long time.. And by that I mean the sound of his guitar playing. Best regards Daniel from Sweden...
they opened the show on the 1984 Defenders of the Faith album tour with Love Bites. lots of great songs on that album. they changed their sound on the next album Turbo and went more hard core metal, resulting in lower charting (if at all) and lower sales and smaller venues. Halford left the band for a while and returned. Their live show mostly consists of the classic songs from mid 70's to mid 80's, but they will perform anything they've recorded, which makes their shows spectacular.
That was just the press slagging on Judas Priest... bunch of BS! Priest still played arenas and sold gold records ('Ram it down' in 1988... 'Painkiller' in 1990) about the same as 'Turbo' (which charted at #17 in the US, #33 in the UK) and were still hugely successful on the 'Painkiller' tour in 1991. 'Ram it down' charted #31 in the US, #24 in the UK in 1988... 'Painkiller' charted at #26 in both US and UK in 1990. After Rob Halford quit Judas Priest in 1992, it took 5 years to release a new album 'Jugulator' w/ new vocalist Tim 'Ripper' Owens and the band were forced to play clubs and theaters between 1998 and 2003 because Priest without Halford was not as popular. The Judas Priest reunited tour w/ Rob Halford in 2004 saw the band back in bigger venues.
Judas Priest first had a single titled 'Love bites'... in 1984... Def Leppard scored a massive hit single 'Love bites' from their 1987 album 'Hysteria'... And recently, Halestorm had their radio hit 'Love bites (and so do I)'... in 2012.
KK Downing, guitarists has the blonde hair, Glenn's is darker, and always on Rob's Left with KK always on the right... Ian always stands behind Glenn. This is one of my top favs. Love your answer to Lulu whwn she said he has a nice voice.....of course he does its Rob...Young or old Rob, I don't care he still has phenomenal vocals.
This is actually the studio recording with a live look (it's the Official music video) for Love bites, if Donna really wanted to hear Rob hit some high notes, then Love Bites from the Fuel for Life tour (for the next Priest studio album Turbo 1986) would have been the right live version, still I enjoyed this reaction all the same Keep on rocking ladies 🤘
There’s a decent quality official video for the song “Freewheel Burning”. It’s a live small venue recording. Lots of close up angles of Glenn in his bulging red leather pants. Not sure if Donna and Kathy can handle that video. Rob really hits em high on that one. Fuel for life version has more Texas ladies in it though. Tough choice.
Donna, you missed out on your man Rob Halford hitting his high voice in his prime at the end on the live version of this tune from their "Fuel For Life" pro shot concert. See for yourself and YOU'RE WELCOME! th-cam.com/video/XKtXUrZM6Fo/w-d-xo.html

As another bass guitarist/enthusiast, I agree that Ian takes care of the business of METAL just fine!!&! Very under appreciated, indeed!!&! 🤘😎🎸🔥⚡️
Good choice! it’s one of my favorite JP’s tune. Another favorite are “Freewheel burning” “Bloodstone” “Reckless”. You could do them.
Only Judas Priest can make a song about vampires sound so awesome!
It's a double entendre for a same sex encounter between two men per Rob.
Love priest since like 79 , my wife is nuts over this band her favorite , try take these chains by them

Great reaction ladies ❤
I love that you ladies are listening to and enjoying the music I grew up listening to.
@dalewalker5845 Hell man that's all I listen to. Still to this day. 55 and still a metal head.
@@lw3918 I mostly listen to 80s Hair metal. You and I are about the same age I'm 56

Its a pleasure watching Donnas face during a Judas Priest video. 🤘😄
Happiness, joy and love written all over her face. 😍
@@lw3918Me too, a 54 year old swedish metal head 🤘🇸🇪🤘
Oh and KK Downing is the blonde guitarist
Dave Holland is the drummer in this Judas priest era
You know it was a trip 10 semi trucks loaded with stage props could you imagine how long it took to set that stage up was only 22 when that tour hit the road
Need to check out the live version from the “fuel for life” tour. You’ll get your high notes!
Donna would really like "Turbo Lover"
Momma kool as hell, she cracks me up,she gives u honest observation

Great band and song. In the dead of night, love bites!!
I like this song, is very cool 🔥

This has to be one of the first goth metal songs
Love this song from Defenders of the faith yes saw the tour for this album

Good selection of songs girls, nobody else has reacted to that song I love it
I'm going to recommend "Rock Hard, Ride Free". Could have been a radio hit.

Look at Defenders of the faith album cover thats what stage looked like the whole band came out of the mouth of the creature
I went to see them in 1981. Screaming for Vengeance Tour. Tell Donna I'm with her it's my favorite heavy metal band
I love some Judas priest why did I expect Donna would say that Kathy? Lol Wintersun Alex ❄️❤️
1984 40 y old one of best Judas priest album Defenders of the Faith
This is what they opened the show with on the Defenders of the Faith tour in '84. I was 16 and it was my first concert.
Awesome song, good in concert live, we went crazy at the show 🤘😆🤘🎤🎸🎸🥁🔥🔥

This album was my introduction to Judas Priest; I saw the video on MTV "Freewheel Burning" and have been hooked ever since.
This is a very intense Priest song. It sounds so good when it is live ! xx
That stage blew my mind yes i was stoned and drunk as hell out on floor near front middle
Love this song/video!! One of my Judas Priest faves!! 🤘🤘🤘
The LIVE , FUEL FOR LIFE TOUR is an amazing version of this song
Judas Priest first had a single titled 'Love bites'... in 1984... Def Leppard scored a massive hit single 'Love bites' from their 1987 album 'Hysteria'... And recently, Halestorm had their radio hit 'Love bites (and so do I)'... in 2012.
