So, Victor, what happened to NXU? Did you leave, did they sale the patents to WattEV, did NXU continued to drift off investors to keep their salaries going while selling megawatt patents to WattEV? The WattEV site looks awfully close to what NXU kept advertising they were going to do.

Can’t wait for my utility bucket truck to go electric. The noise alone hits 95 decibels and we work 3 am would be nice to all the people trying to sleep. Then have optimize were the batteries out of the way. Then have where the drive shaft used to be for our 11’ hot sticks and our long shovels for digging deep holes.

Well said! Allows for additional regen going down steep declines, BMW says over 40% gain in driving efficency on diesels it trialled them with.
So ev semis could gain even more especially in mixed use city or traffic driving. Then it could allow for a 300 mile cheaper tesla semi to do 450-500! Opening up new opportunities for those who couldn't spend another 50k+for the top spec semi.
Less weight to so more possible cargo carrying. Top tesla semi is 23,000# base is less at 21,000#
Also it could push the 500 miler out to near 750-800 miles. Ad built in thin solar to the roof&eliminating diesel reefers=much cleaner quieter cooler air for everyone and cheaper cost of goods moved=cheaper products for consumers! Easier on drivers=win win win.👍🏻😎

The down side of putting the batteries in the trailer like that, is it reduces the max paid load of the trailer due to road weight restrictions. This on one hand will and can be major for shipping long range with items that are fairly light weight. But, the real market for these are for companies that operate retail locations, where they deliver to several locations on each load, but also purposely aim to make 2 sets of runs per shift, allowing them to use the trailers to run the truck and charge it at the same time to prevent/reduce down time for the trucks during business hours.

27:40 I would think that if there is AC onboard already, then AC out makes sense,
however if you do not already have the vehicle set up for AC out, then having DC out, where the contactors close as if connected to a DCFC, but instead of charging the HV battery, you discharge it via an external inverter to get AC for V2X.
thus you dont have to carry the inverter onboard for V2X compatibility.
i realise that some vehicles run the charger in reverse for AC out, but if you use that method, we may only see 1.5kw out in some applications, where if we DC out we can use 50kw with the appropriate inverter, with passively cooled cables in most applications.

FLUKE has been around for decades! A great EE measurement tools company -- a friend worked for them and he loved to show off the FLUKE "drop test" for one of its devices -- literally throwing the test device across the warehouse! Also...please ask EVSE companies / manufacturers how to deal with cable vandals!! We have one station in my area that has been targeted three times so EA is holding off the fourth repair. (EA is now letter customers know if a stations is down for maintenance or vandalism countrywide.)

11:04 Hydrogen in the EV landscape: I've seen video demos of shipping containers fully outfitted with a hydrogen energy production system. A sort of "hydrogen power plant in a box" to put it simply. What I would _love_ to see is a company that drops off one of these units which powers your remote EV charging station. They remotely monitor it and not too differently from a fuel tanker topping up a gas station, when it starts running low on hydrogen, they swap it out with a new box.

Would you recommend a school bus with an LFP battery over an NMC battery if it meant the extra weight of the LFP battery means the passenger count is lowered? Would it be that much better long term?

Why would you lower the passenger count? Do you need to lower the passenger count on an EV if you put in a bigger (and heavier) battery?

Still dealing with the same 4 to 6 unit EA/EVGo CCS stations scattered about with usually at least one unit not working at every station. Where is all this great stuff out in the wild.

Why do these bespoke EV versions of trucks still have a long nose design? I wouldn't necessarily expect a shift to cab-over (mostly for safety concerns) but why not a slope nose like the Tesla Semi? Maneuverability suffers for it. Is it for any practical reason or just down to resistance to (visible) change within governmental procurement?

I don't think you actually need to standardize if you push AC or DC over V2G since we are switching to NACS. A bidirectional charger that had the inverters would be able to handle anything with the right relays. Or if you know you aren't going to get a car that pushes DC than you can just get a cheap bidirectional charger that doesn't have inverters and save the money. But it's not going to be the end of the world if it's not standardized. Standardized communication and interoperability would be important though.

So heartily agree to hear EV enthusiasts say the need to diversity our energy for many different segments of our transportation network and long distance carriers. Useful applications for Hydrogen include long distant trucking, interstate busses to freight trains and long distance passenger trains to name but a few. All these sectors would benefit from using hydrogen and be deployed along our major interstates and freight lines, with on spot manufacturing of hydrogen using renewables. There is no one cure all for de-fossilizing our transportation and carrier sector and hydrogen should be consider as one of the significant players..
Personal transportation I do have issues with and cannot see hydrogen as a major player.

Hydrogen still isn’t a good idea. It’s not cleaner unless you use green hydrogen, but that hydrogen is too expensive for fleets. The cheaper hydrogen is made from Natural Gas and releases a lot of CO2.
Plus Hydrogen acts as a greenhouse gas by preventing methane from naturally degrading. Even with the best tanks, Hydrogen molecules are so small that they are nearly impossible to store without leaks.
