Interesting. Not long ago TSMC at Taiwan had production problems due to low water supply. Now they are building new factory in the middle of desert.

I also found that interesting. Even more interesting is they are already strongly considering adding a second 3nm fab and doubling the investment.

That is the whole thing as of now. Once construction is farther along I’ll take some more drone footage.

Will this plant be operational before SMIC gets that 5nm?

    Where will water come from?
Police, good schools in the area?

Lake pleasant is to the north of the facility. That is likely where the water will come from and I am sure part of this massive facility will include a water treatment plant to recycle the water and minimize the impact of water used by the facility. Northern Phoenix is less developed and nicer in my opinion than the more congested parts of phoenix. They definitely are/will be continuing to develop in north Phoenix.

Phoenix basically has its own watershed, which is delineated basically by the Salt River Project. Phoenix does not depend on Colorado River water and is in fairly stable territory in terms of water availability.

Wondered how far they were on construction. When is it supposed to be done?

It truly does blow my mind the size of the facility. The cutting edge technology that will be within the facility I find even more stunning.

Really? The Phoenix metro area is around 5+ million people. Not exactly a wilderness .... what are you talking about?
