How to Make Carbon Cub S+ Work with DX6i Transmitter

If you plan on using your old Spektrum DX6i with the Horizon Hobby Carbon Cub S+ (and probably similar planes), you'll want to watch this video. In it I cover:
1. Flaps will not work.
2. Gear switch = Flight Modes, Flap (AUX1) switch = HP/AL.
3. Why the motor pulses (need to set home location).

You also need to make sure the settings on your dx6i for the flaps are set to +100 for it to be recognised as a button. Ie so you can make aux1 work on the monitor screen. Search for "making the dx6i flap button work" great video sir, massive thankyou

Thanks so much doing this video. (I use my "bind" push-button (named "I") instead the switch you mentioned for "bind & HP & auto land" as it is on the DXe which shipped with the Carbon Cub S+ "RTF" )

i think the pulsing is like a taxi mode.. from what i understand.. just ordered one of the BNF models and will try to make it work with my dx7.. thank you for this!
How does this fly with this transmitter? What did you do about intermediate mode.

I have an E-flite Valiant and a DX6i. the Valiant uses a AR631 with Safe and AS3X. The flaps move when the plane initializes but after that I can't get them to work. Can you have flaps with safe and AX3x (and the DX6i)
I have the original TX so no problem here. After I have flown the plane for awhile I will put in the flaps and go to my bigger TX.You where doing the GPS switch off wrong, you have to hold the Bind switch, meanwhile you where holding the Flap switch

would you the same procedure as the DX6i. the DX7 has the 3 mode switch on the top left side of the transmitter.
How did you set up the model? I downloaded the model from HH website for my DX8Gen2, but it is NOT working right. Building one from scratch using the instructions is NOT trivial for a Noob like me!
Hi! Sorry, I really have no experience with that radio, and no longer have this plane in working condition.
You've said the additional channel thing in this and I believe both follow up videos, I can only assume that is because of how its wired up?
If so then it's using a channel for every servo, and if that's the case and because of your stunning failures trying to use the other built-in features why not just pull the factory receiver/electronics and wire the ailerons with a y-harness (6 channels with flaps) or even add a y-harness to the fap servos with a reverser or flip one of them over (5channels with flaps), and then you can run everything with the DX6i. Done like that you can even do 2 stage flaps by programming the flap switch for activation and a second switch as a modifier for when they're activated, giving you a stage one and stage 2 (takoff and landing flaps).

You know how the Ailerons go up and down How do I know what mode I am in I just got the same airplane for Christmas and all I have is the DX6i
The normal auto land and hold position switch how do you know what it’s going to do just want to make sure I’m not going to crash haha

Yes, thanks for clarifying. The transmitter has to have DSMX, and capable of reassigning channels. I assumed this was possible with your DX6i, as well as the majority of programmable transmitters.

Jus bought one of these rtf and so far spent 2 days tryin to get it to log the gps sat thought they are spose to be a beginer plane not alot of good if it wont fu***** work

I think its beter to buy the RTF version, so to save you a lot of aggravation. What I think is stupid, buying the RTF version, the transmitter has no switch for flaps, if you want to install flaps you will have to buy another transmitter, what where these idiots a Hobbyzone thinking, and Horizon hobby does not care
