- this is a quick reviews of the AMT Groove Boss Supermodified model kit from round2. this is by far the biggest piece of crap kit I've ever attempted to build. stay clear of this kit by all costs. you been warned
Thanks for the heads up Chris
I had to give my hones opinion of it, nothing went together on it and everything falls off, couldn't get it to line up properly....the tires are great tho, might be good for parts
Bummer!!!! Thanks for the insight!!!! Great review!!!
Train wreck of a kit. Might be good to some kind of custom kitbash thing with
Ollie's had it for $12.99. I had it in my hand and put it down,. Kind of thankful for that now. Thanks for the review.
I can't remember who did it recently, someone had a video series building this kit and it came out pretty decent. My experience wasn't positive

Thank you for sharing that video link. right now I'm watching him add the injector stacks. I often avoid kit that have those. lol. @@carouselofcrazychrisb
credit to you for making a silk purse from a sow's ear
To bad! Looks like it could have been a cool kit. Thanks for your honesty😎👍
Was really looking forward to this build and it unraveled quickly. I still haven't found any builds online of this one. I'm sure there are some decent builds of it somewhere, I personally can't recommended it
I KNEW I should have looked for a review before ordering this kit! I have several cousins in TN that drive supermods so was hoping to build up something that looked kinda like their mounts.
Ouch! but I love your honest review, sorry you had to go through that.
Had to tell the truth from my end. The tires are beautiful in this kit tho.
I just finished this kit yesterday. It's definitely finicky, but not awful. The instructions leave a lot to be desired. A friend told me to use the Grant King sprint car instructions and has sent me a copy. I've ordered another Groove Boss to build.
Well received it as a Christmas present. Wondering why it had a frame jig that didn't work. I had to drill and pin the connections. Its rough.
I'm hoping someone has better luck with this kit than I did. I couldn't find any reviews of it online, which was probably not a good sign. I appreciate you watching and writing!
sounds great 😂 thanks for the heads up I was about to order this on ebay.. cheers
One of the red flags that should have warned me was I couldn't find any reviews of this kit. I'm sure there's someone out there who built it nicely.
Extremely accurate review.
Just finished building this kit today and had to come back to this for a laugh. Bought it first and then I saw this review so when I started I knew what to expect. My kit turned out ok-ish but I did have to cut away a fair bit of plastic on the underside of the hood scoop just to make it kinda fit over the engine. It's also hilarious how short this thing is compared to what it looks like on the box.
I was extremely disappointed, I really was looking forward to having this in my collection. I thought the tires were pretty awesome in this kit. Also, it doesn't say what scale it is, I think it's tad too big for 1/24-25th.
I had one of those 40 years ago, Still have some of the parts. Never built it but some parts are usable for other things. Like your review though. Ron
Had to do a review just to warn everyone. Maybe it's good for some kind of custom job. I love the tires in this kit, maybe those can be used for something else.
That's about what I did and also used some of the chassis and roll cage..Still have all the body parts in white plastic in junk box. LOL.
I use it to build old east coast modifieds with pinto and grimlin bodies on it.
Thanks for the heads up, I thought that I would get that kit, now I know better!
I was really looking forward to this one too. Nothing went well on it. Maybe it can be used as a custom work. I had to give the warning.
Yes it does fit together. I Built about a hundred different models of those stages of K, I, t, s, you must use the.
E jig jig that comes with the KI, T, the reason your motor sits too far. Forward is because everyone puts the firewall ahead of the roll cage. It should go behind it the the rear end assembly. It's best to set up and scrape the Chrome off theapart the 2 pieces of the quick change, the the axles must be centered and left set to dry. The front end must be lined up correctly. Don't bad mouths something that you have limited experience with f I built these When they were brand new in 1974.Thank you for your time model on
Tell it like it is brother - thanks for the heads up on this crap kit 💩
Thanks. Was just my two cents in the kit. Maybe someone else can do a kit bash or something with this, maybe. I failed the kit or the kit failed me
What a little mess. That is a shame. Thanks for sharing.
It's embarrassing. Maybe later I'll go back to it and make something custom out of it
Sorry to hear Chris there’s a few bad apples out there the crew chief is one lol
I've heard that about the Chief before. This is why we network. I do have to say that the tires in the Groove Boss are incrediblely awesome, maybe those can be used in a custom
@@carouselofcrazychrisb keep the tires and use fireworks on the rest 🤷♂️
Imagine the look of surprise on my wife's and daughter's face when they heard your review while we were watching various videos last night. My wife asked me if I maybe wanted that model for Christmas...the look on MY face when I heard that...
Should of put one of those warning disclaimers before the video. I should know better that kids may watch these videos too. I personally still don't recommend this kit, the tires are very nice but that's about it
This kit can best be used in a garage diorama, being assembled
There was a recent builder who built this kit real nice. I don't have the thrill to try this again.
Yup. Bought this and a couple other car models by AMT about 45 yrs ago. Put me off AMT models for life. This one was a "soup sandwich ".
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.....or not! If this kit is as bad as you say it is, then it seems to be a massive waste of time and money. I can see getting this kit for the big engine and the huge tires but at $33.96, no way! This would be fine if the "Groove Boss" was sold at 1970's prices, $3 or $4 is an acceptable loss for nice hot rod parts but they ask too much for this. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug and Round 2 knows this! Now that "Yankee Challenger" and the TeeVee Dune Buggy ain't so bad! 😉
Thanks for watching!! I'm sure there is someone who can do something real cool with this kit, I don't think that person is me. The Yankee Challenger is definitely one that I'd like to get!!
Lol yup built 4 mustangs from amt and only good one I got is from revel lol…amt truck and trailer sucks as well…falls apart just from a light touch..it’s like I paid 30 for crap
Thank you for letting us know about this- to be honest the box art makes the car look better than it actually does- I think at one time this kit was part of a two in one kit where you can either make it this super modified or a sprint car - I could be mistaken
Thanks for watching. I actually couldn't find anything on this kit, other than it was recently released to us. Not even sure what scale it is, doesn't say and seems little bigger. I'm sure someone can do something with this kit, whether box stock or some kind of kit bashing.
I look forward to the sequel. I'm a new sub. ;)
Thanks for the sub, really appreciate that. I subbed you as well, lotta cool work you do!! Definitely gonna have to spend sometime on your page!!! As for the model car, may not be a sequel, but we'll see!!
Ha ha ha, used to Race unlimited asphault supermodifieds, and that barely, sorta resembles a bad representation of one. Chassis upright, engine not off set, don't know what that is.
🤔??
Can you use the parts to kit nash other kits?
Looks like the engine and suspension might be good for another car..
And yeah that body looks pretty crappy.
I'm sure someone can make something cool out this, I keep saying that the tires are beautiful in this kit. I was very disappointed over this kit, and from other comments I'm receiving I'm not the only one with issues.
I am building this kit and it's going together pretty good. You have to put in a little extra time with patience, and it will go together pretty good. This kit IS NOT for
beginners for sure. This kit will make your building skills better. I used Tamiya Quick setting cement instead of glue, and puttied the body panel seams, primed and wet sanded it . I am happy so far. For me, the hardest part about this kit is figuring out what color scheme I want to paint it.
I hope to post a video once it's done.
Well after the review I feel a little anxious I got three kits on the way
I'm sure they can be used as some sort of custom work, the tires are awesome!
Yeah....sometimes things just don't work out like we would hope they would. I'm working on one right now. What you have there looks pretty good.
I found it to be a complete mess. And I was excited for this one, love my race cars, nothing worked on it. I hope that you can do better, maybe it was just me
Love the review of that POS. 😂 Looks and sounds like a PARTS car.. But I can also see that you gave it hell trying to make a good build out of it.. Some kits just won't let us save them.. 😎👍 Thanks for the heads up brother
I had to be honest with the review, I'm sure someone can make it look decent. Nothing went together on this one. The tires are awesome, maybe can use those on something
"So your telling us to pick this kit up?" Thanks for the heads up Chris, if you weather the kit it may have that worn and used look with the body panel gaps.🤔
Nothing went together on this kit. Maybe it can be used to do some custom car with it. I keep saying that the tires in this kit are awesome, maybe the best thing to it
🤣🤣🤣🤣. Looks like some parts for other builds. Thanks for the great review. Hope next build goes well.
I'm sure this kit can be used as a custom work, maybe I'll go back to this later and do something different with it. Right now, I just had to let my feelings on it known
Great review....theres a few kits out there that are not worth the price they want for them thanks for sharing this one I know now if I want to build one too get it at a very cheap price!
I was excited for this one, that excited died couple days ago. Complete mess.
AMT...Awful Model Technology
Especially some of the older molds! Lol. Most kits you can work it, this one was a mess all the way around.
"Sucks don't buy it" nice Chris i might get one soon if I have the money lol
No you willnt. And why are you not at school?
@@carouselofcrazychrisb I was getting ready to go to school lol
You're allowed to watch TH-cam before school? Should be getting prepared for the day so you can concentrate on class
@@carouselofcrazychrisb I am allowed and I can focus
How is school? You passing classes?
I think it’s a good parts car, lol, thanks for info
I'm sure with a little creativity, someone can turn this kit into something different. I keep saying the tires are really cool on it, they might be useful for something
Don't sugar coat it, brother. Tell us how you really feel. JK, looking at the price tag on the box, just makes it worse.🤠👍
Lol. Had to give my thoughts, they weren't pretty, the kit wasn't pretty. Troubles all the way thru. Maybe good for a custom work. My hobby shop keeps rasing thier prices lately, way of the world nowadays. Gotta support them tho
Yeah go ahead and buy the group boss
Yeah go ahead and buy the g r o v e Groove
Sorry about that g r o o v e boss you obviously did not use The Jig for the chassis you have to use these parts make everything line up it doesn't assemble in two seconds like you're used to maybe you should go back to using snap together models cuz that's about all you can handle I have built over 25 of these cars a very highly recommended model from round two
That's AMT for yah a lot of work would be needed for it to look decent lol 😆
I might go back to it another time to do something different with it. But for now, garbage
I think it still looks pretty sweet despite it not being a great kit!!
It was a train wreck.maybe someone else can get it right. Might be good for a parts car
😎
