  • I use my 20v Bauer reciprocating saw to cut up old tires from rims so I can recycle the tire with the county and take the wheel for scrap metal.

    Nice job. When our customers don’t want the tires back this is exactly what we do and as far as the bead is concerned we simply use bolt cutters and it comes off in a snap

    Thanks dude! This method was recommended to me so I looked it up to find out what kind of blade would be best. As I have pretty much every type of blade, including the hybrids, your video answered that very question! Then, I seen you cutting around the sidewall and figured you were doing something different than just trying to remove the tire but addressed why you weren’t doing it the way you did it at first, which in my mind seemed like the best (easiest) way to go at it! Came with one question, and left with several answers! Again, great video! Thank-you! This was a service for humanity.

    I really want to get the cordless recip saw, but so far I haven't found a use for it. I've used a recip saw once in the last 5 years I think, when I replaced a roof for my mom. I didn't have any cordless tools at that time, they would have come in really handy though. I had to lug an extension cord and recip saw onto the roof, and a skilsaw at one point, my bauer tools would have made the job easier.

      Yeah, it’s definitely not a necessary tool especially for DIYers but it helps at times. I used the hell out of my Milwaukee Cordless Sawzall but that was definitely in different circumstances. When I sold all my Milwaukee tools I had enough to replace every Milwaukee tool I had with a Bauer so I did. And ended up with more batteries too. So that’s more or less why I got it. In hind sight there is a lot of times I should have used one over another tool I used.

      @@DereksWorkshopAndProjects nice, the price was what drew me to them, low cost for good quality. Some day I wanna own them all!

      Jeremy Huff Same here. I was surprised at the quality when I picked them up in store for the price, got them, and am even more surprised now.

    Can it cut through steelbelted tires too?

      Most tyres are steel belted sidewalls

    Great video, thank you. I need to do this, but I am doing it to remove junk tires from nice rims. My question is this: After you are left with the two strips around each of the beads (inside bead and outside bead), is it easy to remove those remaining strips from the rims? Thank you

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it’s far easier to remove them in my experience. Especially if you have an angle grinder, you can just cut the steel belts left in the rings. But with the tire gone you can come at those rings from underneath.

    Which blade is best?

      Supposedly the Diablos are hard to beat. The Bauers are fine. Always had good luck with the Milwaukee's.

    Did you use metal cutting blade

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. I used a wood/metal blade. It was like a hybrid blade. It had more aggressive teeth than a regular metal blade but was still metal capable.

      Kobalt folding box blade is great for this to start your cut, I used this also for trimming my moms Muck boots

    Thanks about to cut my tires

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      After cutting them, most of the rings left just unset themselves from the rim. Nice and easy.
