Batman Playthrough (SEGA GENESIS/MEGA DRIVE)

  • While there was many Batman games based on the 1989 movie I would argue that this game is arguably the best of the bunch being contested by the NES game only. Great control, better balanced difficulty and a music soundtrack to die for. Plus you get to drive the Batmobile and Batplane which I feel was sorely missed from the NES game sadly. While I love this game and the NES game equally, finding this game nowadays on actual cartridge is a feat since it seems to be rather rare. Either way whether you play it on the cartride (like I did for this video) or on emulator this game is well worth the time and effort to play. A true classic!
    Hope you enjoy!

      @RentalRewindGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is certainly a very underrated gem that's for sure, kinda overshadowed by the much more famous (but still killer, stone-cold classic) NES game. There's room for both from my perspective! I play both these games at least a few times a year and I think the only problem I have with it is that I was unfortunate enough to discover it much later on instead of growing up with it so I'm envious you got to grow up with it lol! Wish there was a SNES port or game as well, missed opportunity I think...

      SNES was my first system so I'm always gonna be ever so slightly biased by just microscopic bit lol! But yeah the Sega Genesis kicked major ass and still does today for my money. All my friends had one and I ended up with one (two actually) not too long later when I was 8 and it was my second console so I'm always gonna be very fond of it and the whole 16-bit era for that matter. But yeah, the music in this game seems to be everyone's favorite aspect/feature of the game and its very, very hard to not agree with everyone because it is awesome and probably one of the best soundtracks on the system. It's got my vote! Just wish that either myself or one of my friends had the game back in the day so we could have enjoyed it much earlier lol!

      Thank you! Lots of practice I assure you and I usually play it a few times a year consistently for years as well. A much more "fair" game then say the NES version which does get very tough in spots very quickly. Both are great though!

    Looks interesting. I like the NES one but the damn gears in the cathedral kill me every time. Plus the graphics look better. Black batsuit instead of blue. Id like to find this somewhere looks like alot of fun

    I was playing this game in 1991. Facing the Joker, he had half a bar of life left. I threw the decisive batterang but before it could kill him my older brother unplugged the system!

      Ughh...that's a total drag! I remember restarting my dad's game on Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past right when he was on Ganon at the end of the game. Yeah....I accidentally deleted his save file and that did not go over well. Hence, I started gaming in order to get my dad back to that level....the beauty of a 3 yr old brain lol. Karma eventually got me back when I was playing Link to The Past and my brother in his curiosity to what I was playing not only accidentally unplugged my console, but also deleted my save file as well unknowingly. So you could say that I can understand your plight to a certain degree lol!

    This game art style and general gameplay reminds me a lot of SMS's Vigilante, I wonder if there were any artist who worked on that one but it has no credits to compare it seems.

      Vigilante was done by Irem, this by Sunsoft, so I'd have to say no. I doubt these companies shared any staff.

    Artistically this game is pretty strange. Things make sense until the ending when we get the strange ending music with Joker's corpse forced into view...for minutes. I realize it's a powerful cinematic moment but it's a bit overemphasized here.

    I didn't really have an issue finding a copy of it, took a little time after I started full time collecting to get it, but then again I wasn't looking for it first of all. Just sort of stumbled upon it at a Buy Back (long gone sadly), and for $11, I got a copy.

    • @RentalRewindGaming
      @RentalRewindGaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lucky find indeed. I got a CIB copy on eBay many years ago now and while it wasn't cheap like say Batman Forever is, it certainly was a good price hence I jumped on it right away. Yeah it's not that way now lol!

    Lol… I got completely stuck at 5:04, not realising there’s some sort of double jump. It’s a tricky game until you realise how generous the enemy hitboxes are.

    • @RentalRewindGaming
      @RentalRewindGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it took a bit of time to get the timing of the double jump perfected but it really helped out in spots. The hitboxes are thankfully pretty forgiving so that can also take the edge off of some rather tight spots which would other wise lead to a few more unwanted hits or unintentional deaths.

    • @CalacaRoja

    • @RentalRewindGaming
      @RentalRewindGaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that was the thing though back then. If you knew what to do and where to go these games were pretty quick but how many hours and days and weeks and sometimes years would you have to give to get to that point of where you had it under your thumb to that degree. I think that is the big difference now when you compare the old games to the new ones. The new ones I find are not really that tough overall but take forever to beat because of their length whereas the old ones are usually pretty short but take forever to beat because they can be tough SOB's on occasion and more often than not lol!
