@@toddknutson6317 thank you Todd! Yeah, it warmed right up that day. March fishing can be a mixed bag; one day it’s snowing and the next day you’re in a t-shirt. And I am a big fan of dad jokes, I guess I better come up with a good one for the SRT 2025 intro. 😁
@RAGEFISHING im about your age, long story, but my dad was the first g loomis dealer up here in sw Washington. He passed in 2019 unfortunately and I never got into steelhead fishing like him, we used to golf together. Last summer with some help of your videos and a very good steelhead fisherman of mine, I landed my first steelhead with a gloomis in my hand! I knew he would be proud and now I'm hooked! I have 5 loomis rods now. I went to the factory in woodland to get one repaired last summer and told the staff between you and my dad, Loomis was it for me. Thanks for doing what you do, love your videos!
@ thanks for sharing. That’s awesome that your dad sold Loomis rods. I found them 25ish years ago and they quickly became my favorite. I own an embarrassing number of them. 😊 Bass, trout, steelhead and salmon rods. Congratulations on your first steelhead, may you shake the hand of many more, I’m sure your dad is proud. 😊🎣

@@Dream-season thank you! I appreciate the feedback. These ones offered a little more of a challenge due to 3 fishermen with cameras, usually I’m only dealing with 2. That’s okay, Braden did a good job on his first Rage fishing trip, hopefully he gets some kick backs from Mott’s. 😄🎣
Woohoo! You can tell it's December, because Barry and friends are on the road searching for late winter fish from the previous March! Been looking forward to this for months! Nice buck, Barry! He is eligible for Frequent Flyer Miles! Braden is s future slayer for sure. Maybe very soon, he will pop his SPC! Great start to this season's series, thanks!
@@dwaindiffey6145 thanks Dwain! I have a GoPro 13 setup and review video coming out in the next few days. SRT PT. 2 will be Friday at 6PM. There will be 4 parts of the road trip due to the amount of footage.
Best stream choice for catching a winter steelhead that I know of Barry😉. The level was a touch higher than I like, but still fishable. Good on you for teaching Braden the in and outs of bead fishing. Steelhead fishing is an addiction that I bet he will learn to love from your excellent teaching. Like always, just another fantastic video. Definitely getting me pumped for the up coming winter steelhead season.
We need to get the 2025 SRT trip on the books. I think releasing the videos in December could be the future instead of rushing to edit them before the end of the winter season.
I use bait casting reels for drift fishing and throwing hardware, but I like using spinning reels for float fishing, especially while using lighter floats with beads and jigs. I have used both for float fishing and just believe I can have better uninterrupted drifts with a spinning reel.
@ I’m a huge drift/float fisher and started out using bait casters till I discovered centerpins but it made sense cause you can leave the reel in free spool to get a drag free drift with a better control on the line where as with a spinning reel you have the belly in the line and you have to open and close the bale to let line out or tighten up on your drift. I’ve seen so many missed hook ups on that popular TH-cam channel cause of too much slack line from a spinning reel. You rarely see spinning reels used for drift fishing up here in BC, Canada.
Great video. Not going nba ask where you are but I am looking for Oregon rivers that don’t require doing a lot of driving between holes looks like you can walk a lot of this river. Don’t need any river names but what area of the stater are You in? I normally fish around Tillamook
Thank you! If you look in the description field of this video, I posted that link to the article listing all the steelhead rivers in Oregon and the ODFW catch statistics page. Look on both websites for the north coast area, you are in steelhead territory! Some of the rivers featured over the years on my channel are in your neck of the woods, and they are definitely rivers with easy road access.
@ yes I know all the rivers over here. Been fishing them my whole Life. None of them are very hike able. I was just curious what area of the state You were fishing here. Jealous of the cool trails so close to the river that seemed to follow it a Long ways.
