රුවන්වැලි සෑය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පොහොසත් සංස්කෘතික උරුමය සහ ගැඹුරු ආගමික වැදගත්කම පිළිබඳ සාක්ෂියක් ලෙස පවතී. අනුරාධපුර නගරයේ පිහිටා ඇති මෙම ඉපැරණි ස්තූපය ආධ්‍යාත්මික පූජනීයත්වය සහ වාස්තුවිද්‍යාත්මක තේජස මූර්තිමත් කරමින් ලෝකවාසී බෞද්ධ ජනතාවගේ හදවත් තුළ ප්‍රමුඛ ස්ථානයක් හිමිකර ගනී.
ක්‍රිස්තු පූර්ව 2 වැනි සියවසේ දුටුගැමුණු රජ සමයේ ඉදිකරන ලද රුවන්වැලි සෑය වාස්තුවිද්‍යාත්මක ආශ්චර්යයකි. එහි දැවැන්ත ගෝලාකාර අඩි 300 කට වඩා උසකට ළඟා වන අතර එය ගෞරවයේ සහ ගෞරවයේ සංකේතයකි. ස්තූපයේ ඉදිකිරීම් සඳහා ගඩොල් මිලියන ගණනක් භාවිතා කර, ඉතා සූක්ෂම ලෙස සකස් කර ඇති අතර, පුරාණ ශිල්පීන්ගේ ශිල්පීය හැකියාවන් විදහා දක්වයි.
