      @@bestflockingfriends well so far I have made kabobs, and the bond building breakfast, and banana beaks... but I'm noticing that my Senegal will not eat anything with pellets. He'll eat everything else. I gave him a taste of the breakfast before dinner and he loved it... but with him loving bananas I thought he'd love banana beaks, but nope. 😆 At least I'm not feeding him seed except for training.

  • @amandaWL
    @amandaWL 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does that corn bread recipe call for the milk? I’ve heard birds cannot digest milk so water should be used in it instead? I’ve been thinking of getting the feed system books but seeing the milk, cottage cheese, corn bread mix and tuna (esp canned with the added stuff that goes in that) and even wondering whether the broth with the salt and who knows what else is safe makes me wonder if I want to cuz I’m not sure some of these ingredients would be good for birds. Also canned beans are okay? I also read it was best to avoid canned stuff. I love BirdTricks stuff and know they do their research, but I’m not sure I want to spend so much money on something like this if the ingredients concern me.
    Also, too bad they don’t sell a cheaper version with just the seasonal chop recipes. I would love just those without the extras. 😅

    • @bestflockingfriends
      @bestflockingfriends  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dairy should not be fed in bulk or majority of their diet because it’s just harder for them to digest well. It is not *bad* for them unless overfed. That goes for the majority of dangerous items for parrots, all can be fed but should be done in moderation. Most people do not consider a portion for a parrot is not equivalent to that of a human.
      I do use canned beans when I cannot find them raw/uncooked. It’s best to buy unsalted which is the primary concern with anything prepackaged. Rinse well regardless, but avoid salted foods.
      Honestly the cookbooks are worth the purchase just for the seasonal feeding recipes. There is so much helpful information in there! And I think it’s great you’re being cautious because we should never fully trust the information we are being given, always do your research as well as consult your avian vet.

      Most fruit is OK in moderation, but contains a lot of sugar. Use fruit as a treat or snack and do not over feed.
