Thank you for your video. It was of immense help to me today as I changed the heating element and cleaned both filters. We're running our 12 year old dishwasher for the first time after this first time maintenance. Wish us luck and thank you again!
TRUST THESE INSTRUCTIONS. You will see they are detailed and perfect. (HINT: you don't really need to take the chopper knife and screen out, clean in place is probably enough) PERFECT PERFECT. Another video came close. This guy is better. SUBSCRIBED

You saved me at least $60 bucks in a service call and great satisfaction in fixing it myself. The chopper shaft was completely covered in 13 yrs worth of food and plastic and the plastic shaft was broken. I also didn't know I was missing the top spinner. $25 worth of parts has it working like new!

Fantastic, thanks so much. I have the exact machine and every time I opened the door the inside smelled awful, even after running several cleaning solutions through it. Following your directions I took mine apart and the underside of the filter and the grinder area was disgustingly filthy. Cleaned everything up and ran some cleaner through it and it smells great now. I am sure you saved me at least 75$ Thanks again

Your video is really good and helpful. Your camera work and explanations are excellent! Thanks for making this video! When I did this maintenance, did not have a magnetic screwdriver so I had to put a towel over the floor of the dishwasher to prevent the screws from falling into the drain openings. Also, every part I removed and every exposed surface was cleaned as well as possible before anything was put back. Took much longer. .

What a great video! I am not mechanically inclined at all and was able to disassemble, clean and reassemble in about 3 hours. However, I had the same problem as another viewer. When reassembling I could not get the lower arm to tighten properly. I posted a question at appliancevideo.com and was referred to the parts breakdown. This was the key. I had reassembled the hub in the incorrect order. Once I followed the parts breakdown, everything came together as it should. We live in a rural area so a service call and labor would have cost $300 or more. This video saved me money!

An excellent video with a few points to mention: it would have been useful to show the actual removal of the chopper assembly, reattaching the water distribution tube was obscured by having your head in front of the camera and before using the shop vac to vacuum out the sump area, the check valve should be removed so there is no chance of it being vacuumed up too.
***** Just trying to help you step up your game a little. Hey, I have a clothes dryer here, a Sears Kenmore model #970-C69042-00,squeakin' like a MoFo, loud metal on metal sound with some rattling like small pebbles caught in the back of the drum. Mark. The water line coming into your dishwasher is typically a hot water supply line. Additionally, there is a heater element (just like you see in an oven) )in the basin of the dishwasher that will provide supplemental heat for cycles that require extra hot water, such as the anti-bacterial or sani-rinse selections.
So they both heat the water. I always wait for one hour after the clothes washer (or shower) is done before I start the dishwasher to insure that I'll have enough hot water for the dishes. The service guy told me to run the kitchen sink hot water for maybe 10 seconds before starting the dishwasher. Do either of these make sense? Thanks.

I have a question. I am now putting it back together. When screwing that top round nugget piece to attach the bottom spray arm it is not tight at all and wiggles extremely. Do you know what I’ve done wrong? I tighten it completely to where the threads stop and it wouldn’t be possible to turn any more. It wiggle so much that they spray on wood actually hit the metal heater bar.

The middle and top spray arms on my dishwasher are not moving. Could debris in the bottom of the dishwasher be keeping the water pressure low and not making them spin?

Hi Adrian, I have exactly the same problem. I tried to you use the pliers like he did but it did not move at all (of course I remove the screw with a T15 beforehead), everything else was easy. How did you end up doing it? Did you see another video somewhere that could help? Is there another screw on my Maytag model that I did not see? I really do not wish to force it in order not to break the plastic part. I am at a loss here....
I had the same problem, but mine has another small part with some slits in it that comes out but I can't figure out how to get the cover for the chopper area off. Looks like there is a small plastic clip on the right hand side, but the section that covers the blade looks like it is part of the entire assembly. However I was able to stick my figure in the one opening and feel the chopping blade and spin it.

An excellent video with a few points to mention: it would have been useful to show the
actual removal of the chopper assembly, reattaching the water distribution tube was
obscured by having your head in front of the camera and before using the shop vac to vacuum out the sump area, the check valve should be removed so there is no chance of it being vacuumed up too.

Is the water that washes the dishes heated in the water heater in my basement or is it heated by the elements inside the dishwasher?
