This is 37 years old and still vastly more playable than any Moto GP game- despite such stunning graphics. Sega always delivered perfection on all levels and pushed the limitations of hardware.

I went to a yard sale with my dad when I was a little kid (early 90's) and the guy had a Super Hang-on cabinet (with the bike) for sale. He let me free-play it while my dad talked to him. It was awesome.
*Watches entire video, grabs bike keys, gear up , starts up motorbike and rides the back country roads while jamming to the Super Hang On soundtrack!* :)
This also shows how insanely difficult those arcade games were. Absolutely perfect run on the "Beginner" course with maximum speed almost constantly and in the end you have only 4 seconds left...
From Atari's Night Driver to this in 11 years. Amazing time to be in the arcades. All the classic were released and all brought something you had never seen before with the advances coming so quickly.
I remember playing this when I was about 6 years old. I'm not sure my mom gave me any money but I was probably happy just sitting on the motorcycle and watching the standby screen. I wonder if these are still around.
I have seen a restored " Operation Wolf " working cabinet with vibrating gun in a Arcade a few years ago, , So the engineers can fix those, The " Super Hang on ` " Came in two types, Just a handlebar connected to the cabinet and the one you remember with the motorcycle seat, I guess maybe there might be a few about, Probably in a good retro Arcade that specializes in video games

Super Hang-On Longplay (Arcade) [60 FPS]: Hold on to your seat in this blisteringly fast bike racer from Sega. Read the video description for my review!
Impresionante partida, impresionante juego que me dio horas de diversión en mi inolvidable Sega Mega Drive, mi admiración hacia ti amigo jamás vi nadie jugar una partida apabullante como esta, gracias.
In the Genesis version ("Mega Drive" here in Europe), the ending is different: a woman approaches the rider, presumably to kiss him, but she walks away awkwardly when the rider pulls off her helmet, and is shown to actually be a woman.
@@cesar_onada The same old geezer that was the biker in the arcade version also appears in the Genesis/Mega Drive port, seen applauding next to the woman biker during that ending cutscene. (Perhaps she’s a relative of the ol’ fella, who knows?)
not only OST was th most crazy, but the biker who never hit an obstacle!!? at times, used to spent time and money for finishing one mile stone, and even, at the end, we wanted to watch the progress map
You're an incredible player, I was stuck on my chair watching this :-) And kudos to Sega for the humorous nod to Metroid at the very end of the game! Well worth watching 😂😂😂
Use an overclocked emulator and you will get exactly the same smooth framerate in all three Road Rash games on Genesis, it feels great! I personally can't go back to original slow as hell performance anymore, emulation improves the experience so much that it almost feels like a miracle lol.
@@dastanbastan9621 How much of an overclock? The Genesis 68000 can be overclocked using an external crystal oscillator, YMMV how far you can get though. 10 MHz is usually easily attainable if a genuine Motorola part is used, but the 3rd party clones are generally less tolerant of overclocking. Signetics 68000s are known to be some of the worst chips when overclocking. I replaced the stock 68000 in one of my Genesis consoles with a 16 MHz rated ceramic 68000 and I can sometimes get it up to 12 MHz, it just depends on the game. At higher speeds, the rest of the console starts to become the bottleneck.

As a kid, I always liked racing games, and one of the biggest reasons was the soundtrack to the games, giving us fantastic music. Super Hang-On is a definitive example of that (Power Drift also fits the criteria).
i just recently bought a 3ds xl and saw that sega have released 3d versions of this, outrun and space harrier amongst other games. it goes without saying that i will be buying them as soon as i have the cash as i love the arcade versions. great times playing them :-)
What an amazing looking and sounding game for 1987. I remember it was an experience to play at the arcade with the bike and you really felt like you were riding a real crotch rocket. Great fun but a real quarter muncher!
Namco's Suzuka 8 Hours is the cousin of Sega's Super Hang-On. Their motorcycle based arcade game had a product placement for the extremely popular Coca-Cola soft drink brand. It has been released for the Super NES game console a few months later.

O agree
The colour swatches in this game are so beautiful... ...such classy art direction.
No other modern games give the same speed feeling. And the palette is perfect. This is not nostalgia, it's a fact.
The old guy surprise making everyone faint at the end was it for me. Loved it

A game I fell in love with. loads of fun with the TURBO 🏍️
That turbo is the shit, I finally beat the last track a year ago. On my ps3
This was so loud in the arcades! You couldn't hear any other game when someone was playing! Fantastic music!!
*Watches entire video, grabs bike keys, gear up , starts up motorbike and rides the back country roads while jamming to the Super Hang On soundtrack!* :)
My 7-year old self is jealous at this awesome gameplay!
Me: “There are seven other racers.”
Game: “There are over 137 other racers.”
The feeling you get after you modify your bike and hit that TURBO on the Genesis. Love this game!
This also shows how insanely difficult those arcade games were. Absolutely perfect run on the "Beginner" course with maximum speed almost constantly and in the end you have only 4 seconds left...
(to be fair, that's because the person playing didn't use turbo for the first stage)
...and never used the turbo on the beginner course...
Man, the framerate on the arcade version is so pristine compared to the Genesis version.
I miss these arcade days... home hardware has become ridiculously powerful but nothing can beat the feeling of riding on that make believe bike.
This was a relic back in the days...
I love it..
Awesome graphics. Really held up nice. Great time in video game history.
