The funny thing about Steve Smith is that he's a TV analyst now, and he's one of the nicest guys ever. Always compliments the players after games and has great back and forth with them. But when he puts that uniform on, you know you should not f% with him. Not sure if there will EVER be another player as small as Steve who plays with the same fire and physicality.
The craziest play I saw Smith make was going up at the goal line, making the catch, coming down onto the defender, breaks his arm that the ball is tucked into, switches the ball to the other arm, stays on his feet, and scores the touchdown. Unbelievable
Smith such a beast. One of my favorite plays of all time. I've been trying to find that clip to show my bro in law. Tryna get him into football. And been showing him different players.
He was incredible to watch. I nearly cried when Carolina got rid of him. He fiesty because he was told he can't play because of his height showed everyone what was up
@@yourbadger5486 it's dumb because i said imagine being in the locker room with both of them 😂. If you've ever been in a football locker room before, that would be the livest locker room ever.
one of my first videos of yours watching very impressed with your player recognition of other players in the highlight outside of Steve Smith especially for a guy who's new to game
My all time favorite receiver! Dude was tough as nails and always made his team better! As a ravens fan i wish we woulda had him for longer! Even his retirement letter was epic! He would catch a td stiff arm a linebacker and punch someone in the mouth all in the same play plus he'll make sure to tell u about it
One thing this video didn't mention was that in addition to being an elite receiver, Smith was also a great kick returner in his early years. He had 4,055 special teams return yards and 6 touchdowns, to along with his 14,731 receiving yards and 81 touchdown catches. Smith was even a pretty good rusher too, racking up 387 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Smith's career total of 19,180 total yards is currently 8th on the NFL's all time list.
@@kiwikicker9263 Yeah I have the utmost respect for players like him, who still returned kicks despite being a starter on offense. Usually the team's kick returner is a specialist player who does nothing but return kicks. Teams generally don't have their starters on offense or defense do it because they are concerned about the risk of injuries. Tim Brown is another example of an elite player who also did double duty as a kick returner. You should do a reaction video on him some day.
I know u have looked at some of the Nebraska games. And have been told about Nebraska Football. While we are trying to get back to what we were when Devaney and Tom Osborne were our Head Coaches here is some of what we are trying to bring back in FULL FORCE. Our Black Shirt Defense. Known to be one of the toughest college Defenses in the country from the sixties through two thousand. And had a brief blip for a couple years in the mid two thousands. This is a short video. Nice thing is we think we have the coach that will bring us back to playing this hard nosed kind of game again. His name is Scott Frost. the Last QB to win a National Championship for Nebraska and it was during Tom Osborne's Last year of coaching. Frost has had two Head Coaching jobs that so far are two years each. In the 1st one at the U of Central Florida he took a team that NO wins the year he got hire to two years later having a 13 and 0 team and in the bowl game they played Auburn who was the ONLY team that year to beat the National Champs, Alabama that year. And we are just about done with year two of Frost having one more game left for the reg. season. We only have 5 wins so far this year which is better than last year and we need one more win to go to a bowl game. The Last coach, Mike Riley was a nice guy but a CLUELESS coach and really destroyed our program. He really left Frost little to work with, And that is IF his kids stayed which most didn't. some even waited to quit until the season started or when they lost the starting job during the season. Our starters are almost half true frosh or sophs. And we have Jrs. and Srs. that do not start cause they are not as good as the frosh or sophs. Give us a couple years more and you will see the start of something REALLY SPECIAL!!! At NEBRASKA AGAIN. Here is a decent small sample of the Nebraska Black Shirt Play!! th-cam.com/video/JenzO7vqdZM/w-d-xo.html
What was so amazing about Smith is he was so short...comparatively. Megatron, Moss, Green are all all-stars but it’s a lot easier to snatch the ball out the air when you’re 6’4+ and can leap over all defenders. Smith had to fight harder for positioning. His strength and tenacity def added to his skill set. Loved the video
Steve Smith was the GOAT. They brought him back into the Panthers organization when he retired. The new owner put him in the hall of honor for the team. Gettleman was the GM who let him go and everyone was so shocked. Cold blooded.
2nd Carolina Panther to have his jersey number retired, which happened this year. 1st one of course, was the late Sam Mills. His QB was Jake Delhome who was the 3rd panther to have his # retired at same ceremony with 89
👍👍👍 Dude, Steve Smith was brawler. He was short but mean as hell. If Mike Tyson had of become a football player he would have been Steve Smith. The most intimidating little dude in the NFL.
"That quarterback" is Jake Delhomme. Basically a journeyman QB who played in NFL Europe and got signed as a backup QB. He got his chance when Rodney Peete got injured and played very well for a few years until he injured his arm and had to have "Tommy John" surgery. He played 2-3 years more but he was a turnover machine because his throw strength wasn't the same.
I'd honestly never heard him referred to as Agent 89 before now lol. For another tough player, check out John Lynch, former safety and current 49ers GM.
As a Raven fan, I was ecstatic when we signed him. He’s the exact type of WR that team needed when Boldin left. Too bad his QB was Flacco and not Lamar. I loved watching him play.
You should do a video for LaDainian Tomlinson. One of the greatest RB's of all time. One of, if not the greatest pure talents in the last 20 to 25 years. He's retired now.
The last 10-15 years the list of Truly great Hall of Fame worthy wide receivers is really short. It's basically Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, Terrell Owens, Larry Fitzgerald, and Steve Smith. That man did it without the natural genetic gift of hieght. He was 5'9 and he was absolutely a Dogg
Jake Delhomme was Steve's QB at the Panthers most of his career. That's the guy you asked about. I personally thought he was a top 5 QB in his prime. He and Steve did a lot of damage.
Panther local here - the most prevalent and likely rumor was that they really wanted Cam to grow as the face of the franchise and locker room and Smith was simply too big of a legend and veteran to allow Cam to lead the team as long as he was there. Something along those lines. He had declined and contract wasn't really the issue so it would appear to be something to do with attidude or other factors. We sacked the GM who did it a couple of years later after he made a few other questionable choices.
You should react to Stefon Diggs or Adam Thielen or Both. Their both with my home team Minnesota Vikings!! Loving the great content, and keep up the great work!!
You got to think of how small this dude is to these defenders and him to grab a grown man like that and not even get knocked back or struggle, just snatch him "lemme talk to you" type of grab. I swear 89 had to work on a farm before he went into the NFL.
That's because there's a silly idea that if you're 5' 8" then you're small. 190 lbs on a 68 inch frame is a monster and then you add in leverage from being shorter.
Steve Smith is man of men! At least that's what I'd tell him if we spoke face to face. His catching ability is only superseded by his ass whooping ability and I'd like to keep my eye orbitals lol
