pantlaza pilot here! congrats on the win man, it was great meeting you! this was probably the most fun i’ve had at a tournament yet, can’t wait for the next!
@@snipadipa221it has been the most fun deck i’ve ever brewed! it’s action packed with about 1000 ways to combo while every one of them flow with each other.
@@TheBreachBoysMTG do you have a primer or guide on how to play it correctly? Or do you stream mtgo on twitch? I’m thinking about building this as my first cedh deck and I’ve not played magic since 2018/2019 (played legacy/modern competitively before quitting).
Hey there! Kiki-Jiki player here! I really appreciate you covering my deck. Really wanted to give him some more visibility as a commander in cEDH! He’s a contender! Super jealous of your tattoo. Glad to meet you and congrats on winning the largest cEDH tournament!
Rog/Thrasios player here, congrats on your win and thanks for the comment on the deck. The beauty of [[Order of succession]] is that it doesn't require you to have a creature in play (helps when being under a Drannith Magistrate), and it doesn't target (so screw ward and effects like that). Regards.-
Your deck is super cool! Pulled a copy of it into moxfield to play some ghost hands, thoroughly enjoying its play patterns and options! Consider me inspired.
Dude top 16s every tournament and wins MORE THAN his fare share. Definitely would have won a championship series if cedh was scored by the season like Nascar, or by points like high school playoff selections
Gratz again! You're the GOAT Ian. The Tom Brady of cEDH. Tom Brady took a terrible franchise to a Championship to cement his already impeccable legacy. You must complete the prophecy Ian. Orzhov needs a hero. You my friend, are destined to win a major tournament with only white and black mana at your disposal. (TLDR: Major gratz on another huge acomplishment and i would love to see you give it a go with something janky like Orzhov!)
Sometimes you don't need an outlet for a Hullbreaker horror. Sometimes men just want to see the world burn (Bounce things back to hand for control). Glad to see my two pet decks Pantlaza and Sauron make it to top 16!
Malcolm/Tana player here, wanted to say that this tournament was indeed one of the best. Not only did games go well, but I was able to remove bowmasters almost every time. Now dauntless dismantler.... dont get me started 😂 Look forward to playing with more top players and having solid games. P.S. - Ian, we didnt get to play this time or ever but when we do. Im gunnin' for the win 💪
dauntless dismantler you say? maybe ol’ pantlaza over here had something to say in his games 😂 had a great time jamming with you as always man! still, very proud of us :)
Loving the content! Will you be covering the lotus series 3? Was interesting to see the meta when so many of the top players were at the boil, managed to top 16 with Ellivere. Keep up the tourney reviews, I love to watch every single one 🎉
Great video! Thanks for breaking down the meta and how some the decks work. Just getting back into magic and most of these new cards were/are foreign to me, so this was very insightful.
Dosan is GREAT - grabbed by green tutor slams, turns on mox amber too. I really saw the writing on the wall when Kinnan was released in 2020 and bought a FOIL NM Dosan for 20$ - thank goodness
Awesome win congrats. I am literally running ur deck bc i love the build soooo much. Im still trying to see if nykthos is a viable replacement to cradle bc i cant afford one
I got a totally random question about the manabase, why maximize the blue fetches over the green? Wouldnt you want more chances to fetch basic forest incase of blood moon? I'm probably missing something coming from a legacy pov. Also, congrats!!
@@ComedIanMTG Its pretty even according to the list breakdown on moxfield. I guess my min/max brain is debating the importance of a t1 blue source for a counterspell v a t1 green source for a dork. Its pretty irrelevant outside of an opp t1/2 jamming blood moon/back to basics; 9 out of 10 you're probably fetching the trop.
Is Kinnan the only deck that can take advantage of Trinisphere due to being able to produce an absurd amount of mana? Or can Trinisphere be used in other decks that like to hold up mana for interaction and also a creature that has an activated ability?
So i had slicer vs the rakdos deathtouch transformer and they had shadow spear to take away indestructible from my mithral coat, Stickest top deck magnetic theft stealing the shadow spear for the win
I am telling you, I’ll scream it till the end of time(aka maybe summer, I dont know what wizards are gonna print), the non polymorph versions of thrasios/rog (and Urza) are significantly underrated. The value of having a guaranteed 1 card combo is invalidated if you can successfully craft a critical mass of other combos so that a combo still comes along by turn ~2-3. A similarish argument can be levied against the Thrasios/Dargo list, that the one card combos Dargo provides is less valuable than the cards rog allows you to abuse. You still have all the grindy goodness for the mid to late game that thrasios and temur offers as a whole, in combination now with an early game package that can rival all but rog/si in speed & even then rog allows ThRog to interact with rog/si. Too many lists are falling for the midrange dream, forgetting about all the threats turbo decks can dish out. (Wouldn’t be surprised to see even a shimmerZur list make a resurgence tbh) Monogamous ThRog can just win at and present interaction at every speed
Is there a reason you dont play [[pemmin's aura]] or [[Freed from the real]] in kinnan? You almost always have a mana dork in play and it makes them go infinite immediately
I'm always wondering how a multiple players format can be played in a really competitive environment? It seems to me with try hards, it's proned to have collusion. Or even, bad threat assessment from opponents/king making. Does your magic skills are what makes you a great player or it's more your political skills?
Hay Ian! Congrats on the win. If you see this I have a super spicy cedh deck idea. I have it built but I know it can be better. If you see this reach out to me if you wanna help build a......jank cedh deck that I think can show some results
To me, Pantlaza seems like a worse version of Rocco, where Rocco gets what you want but Pantlaza gets whatever’s on top. It’s he other big difference, Rocco is mana hungry. But from what I see in comparison, pantlaza is too? Idk how I feel about it, I’d have to give the edge to Rocco
You covered a Clam Chowder list back in June 2023 from RiledUpWhiteKid on your Channel for the Salt City Utah tournament. And you called it weird back then.... But even though Riled's is one of the lists on the cEDH DDB and now Mikey's the one who gets credit for "trying it first" and now it's "super cool"? Kinda sad to see.

Leaving a hullbreaker out there and not winning the game is just punting the game away when it gets cloned

Good stuff dude! Grats! ❤❤❤

Definitely check it out!
Another alternative for this Dosan, the falling leaf effect is Tidal Barracuda. Ian Congrats for the WIN!
Tidal Barracuda wouldn't be uncounterable when cast by delighted halfling.
Containment Priest doesn't interfere with Underworld Breach'ed creatures, as they are still cast.

Blue is just the more relevant color for the list overall. Especially when you consider how much green is made off of cradle and our green dorks
