    I purchased one of theses units from Costco on line. Shipped quick. Following instructions and pleased with sound level, power etc for my RV.
    I note in some comments about “breaking oil”. Should not need this type of oil. Breaking oil used back 60 years ago in engine with cast iron piston rings, new technology etc results in better engine machining etc.

      Yes, but they do recommend changing the oil after 5 hours of run time. I did that in this video:

    how long does it run on a propane tank at low/idle load? I know it's quoted 14.5 hours at 25% load, but what about lower than that? Any experience with that?

      Sorry, no.
      I haven't run it continuously yet. I bought it 2+ years ago because our local utility company (PG&E) was turning out power off every few weeks because of fire danger from potential downed power lines. Of course, since I bought it, we haven't had another one of those. lol.
      So I guess it's doing its job. :)

    I can't seem to find this in stock anywhere in Canada. Why is this so hard to find? It seems like it's just disappearing from all the websites that used to carry it.

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's too bad. It's in stock at Amazon in the U.S. Can you order it from there and have it shipped across the border?

      @@BetaCygniBlog Amazon.com won't ship it across the border. It's probably because of its size...maybe. I'm going to try contacting them to see if there is anything they can do. It looks like a fantastic unit so it would be a shame if it wasn't available anywhere.

    It seems louder than 60db

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you're right next to it, it's over 60 db.
      The specs call for 59 dB at 23 feet. If you turn on close captioning you can see that when I'm about 23 feet, the sound is about 59 dB.
      Check out my other video where I test the sound levels at various distances:

      Does seem loud ...

      I've had this one for 8 years. It's pretty quiet, but if you can direct the exhaust the opposite direction of where you are, and keep it away from sound-reflective surfaces it'll be real quiet. Now I have mine in a tool shed and can't even hear it at all. Also, using eco-mode keeps the RPM and thus the sound to a minimum.

    Will this run 2 large fridges and lights?

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think so. It handles 30 amps. I only tried it with my large fridge (25 cu feet) and average size microwave.
      It's designed to power an RV.
      I'd check over on Amazon to see what people say over there:

      Good video test. Last year I told you that I was going to get a similar generator, but PG&E never turned off my power (I think because we are so close to the shopping center, and I think PG&E would get even more grief if businesses started complaining that they can’t make a buck during fire alerts).
      However that being said, it is a new fire year, so who knows what will happen?
      Interesting if you could have taken video (or if you have a dB meter...they probably have apps for smartphones that do that), you could record the sound level at the generator, then do it again at your backyard fence to give an idea of how loud this thing is. I was surprised it was this loud. If you can barely hear at your fence line, then the adjoining neighbors have no basis for complaining!

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sunsetcoastswl6988 Thanks for the idea! I'll use a dB meter the next time I do a video (the next time I run it). The specs say 59db which was the lowest of any similar generator on Amazon. The engine is enclosed which cuts down on the noise. The generators with open engines were 69db

    Cheap foreign made battery lasted about 5 hours. I'm happy with it after spending $110.00 on new battery.

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Does your battery have enough power to run a refrigerator? We had our power out for 3 days once because of fire danger. I don't know of any reasonably priced battery solution that can provide power for that long. For 5 hours, you can just leave your fridge closed and the food will do fine.

      @@BetaCygniBlog I think they mean that they replaced the starter battery with a new one. I did as well, with a nice lithium motorcycle battery. Now I don't need to worry about a trickle charger--the lithiums don't lose voltage over time like lead-acid batteries. It was around 150$.

    After you put oil and gas or hook up propane run these for 5 hrs with no load!!! Then drain your oil and put new oil in.... Old oil you will see metal fragments in it👈👀... That's gonna save your engine for years to come👍💪💪💪

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right. I didn't run it for 5 hours all at once but I cover changing the oil in this video:
      th-cam.com/video/hUL-o7B8tHU/w-d-xo.html
      You're also supposed the change the oil again at 100 hours run time. I cover installing an hour meter on the generator in this video:

      Yes! It's prefect for our needs> backup power for our fridge and something else like the microwave during a power outage which we tend to have here in CA due to fire danger.

    Don't use choke when run propane, that's for gasoline only!

    • @BetaCygniBlog
      @BetaCygniBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I thought. However, if I use it on propane it starts up better. I usually just have to have it out on start and as soon as it starts, I push it in. If I don't use it, I have to crank the engine once, and then do it again for it to start on propane.
