    Big Updates:
    1. This video is a reupload. The original was deleted by TH-cam automatically for "spam" because of a sponsored advert. I appealed this and won! 🥳The warning on my channel was removed as well.
    2. This video received a lot of attention from Chinese players. You are all amazing people. You have corrected a lot of the translations and left kind words of support in my journey to learn Mandarin.
    3. I've seen your comments! The spreadsheet has been mostly corrected. There are still some errors, though. If you would like to help, consider joining my Discord server and sending me a DM. www.discord.gg/Wubb
Thank you for being a kind and supportive community! I love the Chinese players of War Thunder!

2:58 : to collect player names, why not just use the list of server replays from warthunder website instead of struggling with OCR? not only the text is selectable and you have links to player profiles, you can also track games from other players.

Here are all the inaccuracies fixed. Any username that was in the video but not in this list was translated correctly.
5:51 炽羽 - A name that may be a reference to items and characters in many different Chinese pop culture, like Chinese PUBG and Chinese Pokemon, to name a few
5:54 無名客 - Literally "Nameless", reference to Honkai Star Rail
6:06 - Correct, but "大钢针" (Big Steel Needle) is better translated as "Big Dart", it is the usual word used for APFSDS
6:46 帮帮我施瓦克先生 - Actuall translate to "Help me Mr. ShVAK", ShVAK being the Russian 20mm. It is in the format of "Help me Mr. Svarog" from Honkai Star Rail
7:45 - Correct translation, but it is actually a pop culture reference to the movie "The Great War of Archimedes"
7:53 - Correct translation, but "燃烧你的梦" is better translated as "Rage Your Dream", which is not only a reference to the Initial D opening song, but also a hidden your mom joke, I will not elaborate further here
9:14 - This involves a Chinese meme. If a vehicle is so overpowered that even a disabled person can be good in it, that means it must be made for the disabled people then, and therefore it must be a wheelchair. So the guy is saying that he loves using overpowered vehicles
9:22 - This is actually an anti-communist statement. Do you own research if you're interested, I will not elaborate further here
9:41 我是山里灵活的狗 - A meme that originally says "我是神里绫华的狗" which is what Genshin Lumine's Chinese VA said during stream and means "I am Ayaka's simp". The meme has since evolved to say this about "nimble dog" because it sounds very similar in Mandarin
9:44 马踏兔兔 - A reference to "马踏飞燕" (Horse Tramples Swallow), which is the name of an ancient bronze relic that depicts, well, horse running over a swallow
10:03 - Correct. It is actually an excerpt from the "强军战歌" (Strong Army Song), which is a song widely sang by the PLA during training

In this regard, I'd like to know your opinion on the demographics of username holders on Chinese. Are they mostly players from mainland China, islands, or not Chinese at all? • @hanswang7891

@@Scorchluck It is very difficult to judge the demographics from username and in game behavior alone. I have had Indonesian, Malaysian, Polish, Canadian, and USA friends came to me to write up Chinese usernames for them, many of them are Chinese mains in game as well. However there is 1 thing that is pretty certain: if the username uses Traditional Chiense writing, then the username holder is 99% likely to not be from Mainland China, because Mainland China have no Traditional Chinese users. Of course there can be people who uses Traditional Chinese as an inside joke or something, but I'd say that's quite rare.
Edit: for shorter names, there's also the possibility of someone using Traditional Chinese writing to avoid username conflicts too

12:06 "192号可碧烙达" can be broke down into "No.192", "Kebi" and "Laoda". Well, its a meme about Kobe Bryant. "Kebi" is Kobe absolutely, and "Laoda" means "My boss", which is the nickname of Kobe Bryant in China. "No.192" comes from "Laker 8" and "Laker 24" (8×24)=192.

Chinese who mains China here. The problem is we can't really make usernames up like in English. For example: "PhlyDaily" "Spookston" or "OddBawz" none of these names mean anything. They are constructed like normal English words but are actually jibberish. But you can't really do that in Mandarin when every character means something. You can try, but it usually ends up sounding incoherent to Chinese speakers. This is why we opt for stuff you've seen. Now, I watched your full video twice and I still don't understand what the problem is. @@domaxltvyou mean the money they spend on consultation and the game is still broken, in-game menu lagging since 8 years.
Consultation on airplanes are a joke the British electric lightning during test and even the F5 was able to reach mach 1 and keep speeding up with full tank of fuel, whereas in WT barely can speed up to 4-500km/h in a 45-50 degrees angle😂
Game servers are a joke again, laggs, desync, ammo works in one match then you can’t even kill a Locust with it in the next 3 then works again
Most of the ground maps are broken yet they keep adding without proper testing of the community or reworking the current ones.
We don’t need new maps, fixing them and rotating that you can’t have the same map in the next 10 would be much better than seeing the same broken version of the same for 5-10 matches or if i switch that one allowed ban to that map after the second times…
They can’t add new game modes that are permanent, because of their inability of improving and work with the community.
Thousands of ppl waiting for Ground only AB/RB/SB, yet only air has it’s own mode
They “balance” certain ammunition right before a tank event or patch and suddenly other parts of the game is broken too (wink wink at the missiles ignored countermeasures recently)
Hidden updates that break games when they fix one simple thing.
Anti-cheat and not banning blatant cheaters are the highest.
Even a simple player looking at other players upon spawn for more than 30-60 seconds and keep locking onto players through 3738 obstacles still not results in a banned account immediately, maybe 1-2k matches later.
Missiles launched from launchers dipping and often hit ground whereas IRL they go straight out of the launch tube and fly towards the directed target 😂
Russian 5mm rubber skirts eat rounds that are couple hundred more times of pen, thus overmatched should happen, instead of “hit” or “non-pen” or “shatter”
35-40mm AA cannons has ammo that has more shrapnel than a 152-155mm HE round
HESH is more often worse than APCR/AP whereas IRL a 165mm hesh shell would decimate everything inside a tank.
Manual loaded tanks load a shell in 5 seconds at 60km/h
Tanks balanced based on statistics, rather than capabilities and ammunition and effectiveness (200mm solid ap shell in 8.0 french)
Bug reports often mislabelled as “not a bug” or “nothing changed” until 1000 ppl report it, even tho there is video evidence that it happens 2 out of 10 times
Often bug reports go missing and gets deleted 😂
Diesel in tanks explode and kill, but suspiciously only in Russian/Asian and french top tier tanks
Whereas in Leo 2 and challenger not
Diesel fume that can catch on fire, liquid itself isn’t….
Ghost shells returning, allowing to play WT from VPN servers even tho the player has 10mbps connection to the local VON server in remote areas, currency conversion tricks and refund bypassing
Bugs returning from years ago (e.g. you can shoot but the circle is still red, ZSU-57-2 can shoot without gunner or with broken barrel)
In-game packs are getting more expensive at the same time the game getting worse by day.
Few years and WT will bankrupt Gaijin.
Look at their battle royal game CURSED or FOAD or whatever it’s name now…pay to win
Only game Gaijin has and makes money is WT and they treat it like welcome floor mat in front of a pub.
Do you want me to continue whats wrong with WT and their philosophy?

At 9:22 it's actually a funny political joke. This exact phrase comes from an interview with Mao's former secretary, 李瑞/ Li Rui, when he was on his dying bed. It is a wordplay involving the family name of Mao Zedong and Xi Jinping.
Mao's name 毛 is the exact same character used in the word 毛病 Mao-Bing which means fault/trouble. But 病 by itself means illness/disease. While Xi's name can mean habit as in 习惯 Xi-Guan.
    P
Therefore when put together, 毛病不改,积恶成习 can have two interpretations:
    1. without involving the wordplay of the names, it simply says "when issues aren't overcome, they will accumulate and become bad habits"
    2. with the wordplay involved, it could mean "when Mao's issues aren't fixed, they will accumulate and become Xi".
This interview happened in 2018 when Xi has been in office for about half a decade and his ambition to amend the constitution in order to become president for life became apparent. Li Rui made some other honest but negative comments about Xi during this interview as well. The whole thing was comically entertaining to watch.

12:05 “192号可碧烙达”actually refers to“192号科比老大” or "科比牢大“,“可碧烙达”is a homonym for "科比老大" or "科比牢大” 。“科比” is the NBA star who died in a helicopter accident ,In China, some of his fans like to call him "老大" = ”boss“,but because Kobe was once jailed, people who don't like him call him "佬大", "牢" means prison, "牢大" is pronounced the same as "老大". After his death, some fans said”牢牢记住,死者为大“= "remember, the dead man is big" when they stopped others' insults or objections, so the name "牢大" gradually became a meme after Kobe's death, even a person who never watched the NBA may use it as a joke. 192 is 8*24=192, which is the number of the jersey Bryant used.

7:53 "Gajin, I will burn down your dreams"
"I will burn down your dreams" is a word play commonly used by Mandarin speakers (but I'm sure it's a gen z thing)
    It actually means from: 燃烧你的梦
    to: 日si你的妈
simply because in how they pronounce or the "pinyin" we used, the two phrases both start with "RSNDM"
OK now pardon my French, it is extremely uncivilized to show you the whole thing without any censorship.
But that username really just meant "BVVD I will f*** **** ***"
    k now on a less serious note, the one just before that at 7:50, I'm pretty sure they are referencing to a meme "it turns out you also play Gension Impact", from one of Gension's ads;
at 7:46, it's referencing to another well-spread meme, from a Japanese movie "アルキメデスの大戦". Relatively close to the start of the movie important figures of IJN are talking about whether to build aircraft carriers to substitute dreadnoughts, and one of them advocating for the dreadnoughts said the exact same thing.
9:46 is yet another Gension meme that is probably not very compelling to most of your audiences lol, but with a pun.

Yes, it is possible to moderate NSFW usernames, but most chinese players live in a system where you know, it is already done so, so they use homophones instead, and they also have plenty of methods to avoid moderation. Guess it is just a skill required to surface the chinese internet now, so there would be no way that gaijin would be able to moderate it, unless they pay like 50 people who is willing to do it and keep them with the basement guy 24/7 to do the job, as no bot or automated system can moderate these usernames. + if you do understand them they kind of mastered the 'concealing' part in their usernames which is quite amazing as they do require some level of skills in literature and the language itself to make.

A famous example in history: A poet wrote "清风不识字,何故乱翻书", literally "A breeze can't read, why turn the pages then?" describing how books pages got turned by a sudden wind when the poet was once drying his books under the sun.
Now, 清 literally means "refreshing" here, is the same character as it is in 清朝 Qing Dynasty. 清风 literally a refreshing, soothing breeze, can be explained into "the ethos of Qing Dynasty". The line therefore was distorted into a satire towards the rule of Qing Dynasty and was reported to the Qing emperor.

See calligraphy is the main way Chinese is written before pens were introduced from the west. Basically you had to write with a brush and it was a hassle, so short form/classical Chinese was invented to simplify writing.
      For example:
In spoken Chinese, one may say
      “你媽媽過世了,快回家”
      Meaning
“Your mom has passed away, come home asap”
      If written Classical Chinese
      It may be
      “汝母亡,速歸”
Meaning “Your mom dead, speed return”
      Basically the same meaning

So many times people mistake my username as Chinese and try to teamkill me, ram me out of the air, harass me in chat and DM, etc. I honestly don't know how does one fail to distinguish the two when the differences are at least as clear as between Latin and Slavic languages. Guess it shows how dumb the lower end of WT's playerbase is.

I have just over 1000 ARB games in total, so keep in mind the small sample size might skewer the data.
Most occurences are in my F104A (five times out of 272 games), P51H (2~3/207), F2H (1/125), and surprisingly for me, Persian tomcat (1/178), a lot less than i expected it to be.
I had a few other incidents in the F8U-2 and F86A5, but I don't think they did it with intent so I'm ruling those out.
I played a lot of ARB since the tomcat event, so it's like happening once per two days for me during the event period.
To be fair the points grinding might have gotten into players' nerves and made them more aggresive than usual, however it's still way more than people calling me out in ground rb, which is like maybe once in 2023.

6:08 Well...maybe, but tbh names in this format are all refering to the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" which the movie Blade Runner is based on.
6:46 that is not Stark reference, it's Mr. ShVAK (the characters read shi-wa-ke), yep that 20mm soviet cannon. ShVAK used to be underperforming for quite a long time (not anymore, ShVAK rocks nowadays), maybe that's where the id come from. They even gave ShVAK the nickname 屎瓦克 (same pronounciation, but the first character means "sh**ty") during that period of time.
7:46 I'm pretty sure that's a reference as well, maybe he also hates CAS.

I was glad to see he didn't needlessly take the objectives near me and we began to co-operate with pings and radio messages. Eventually we started talking through translators and spent most of the three hour timer chatting about life - turns out he was a guy around my age and it was eerie how similar our perception of the world was, a very human moment. From the perspective of someone who has worked on moderation teams for user bases in the 10k-50k range, and who will never play War Thunder: this video obviously required a lot of work, and seeing the breakdown/discussion of chinese usernames was really interesting! All that cool info ended up feeling like it was the actual point of this video, and that may not be what you intended. If you wanted to build a solid argument about how more moderation is needed and that Gaijin is too greedy to care, the remaining runtime of the video didn't leave you enough space to do it. Unless the viewer is simply assuming the truth of the premise, it's not convincing.
Why is more moderation needed? How does the alleged deficit in moderation create harm? How much harm is it creating? How would "more moderation" be implemented? What tools and which people will be entrusted with that job? If Gaijin agrees to implement "more moderation," do we have confidence that it won't simply lead to "Gaijin's misguided moderation is a tool to actively milk players for more money?" If you want to argue that this game needs more moderation, the argument definitely deserves it own video. I'd be interested to know how the larger player base feels about it as well.

Fantastic really and the fact we won the match make it one of the unforgettable match for me.

Some comments on rocking a wheelchair: it’s a meme in Chinese gaming community that “rocking a wheelchair” means brainlessly playing something that is extremely overpowered.

Yeah, I'm also using non-latin username. Mine is 「格闘戦狂-ガンキルしか勝たん」which means, "Those who is addicted to dog fighting - only gun kill is appealing me" in Japanese. I chose this when I got first post-WWII jet because I just wanted the dog fight like good old A6M, but what I saw is the lazy who only shoot missile just like American doing math with their calculator or new players who bought premium and don't know how to use guns. As a Japanese Tech tree main, it is pain to grind since we don't have countermeasures until rank 7.

Some errors in the video the i could recognize,
in 9:15, "I just like rocking weelchair", it actually means that "I like to play easy and OP vehicles"
in 9:42, "I am the most nimble dog in the mountains" is a Genshin joke, which in Mandarin is originaly "我是神里绫华的狗", which "神里绫华“ (Kamisato Ayaka)sounds really similar to "山里灵活". This joke is created in a Genshin special program when the cv of Kamisato Ayaka saids it. So what it really meant is "I an the most nimble dog of Kamisato Ayaka".
In 10:43, "If you can, then kill me", is actually meant "If you can, then f*** me"
In 12:06, "No.192 Kebiloda", means the famous basketball player Kobe Briant, 192 is his shirt number 8 and 24 multiplies, and "可碧烙达” is not “Kebiloda”, but "Kebilaoda" in pinyin, which in chinese the right way to write is “科比牢大“, "牢大” is meaning like "big brother".
If you need help on further translation i could do some helpings also :)
