- As we cannot travel to France at the present time I thought I would bring a bit of France over here on a Spring wildcamp.
With a menu of:
Pastis
Mediteranian Fish Soup
Crepe Suzette
Wine
Brandy
Coffee
Looks like its going to be a very enjoyable camp
You're the best mate! I'd happily share a few bottles of plonk with you. Thanks for all the cracking videos, they're very much appreciated.
Thanks Hazy and great to hear from you.....thanks Pat
Morning to ya Uncle Hazy...
would love to see you two do a video together!
2 of my favourite TH-camrs in 1 vid would be amazing. Make it happen guys!
Come on Hazy you 2 would make a great video if you can carry enough booze
Years ago a friend and I were hiking and came across a sign that said, "Pull the rope." We did. Someone had tied a can of beer to the end and placed it in the stream just off the trail. Perhaps the best half beer of my life provided by a generous soul.
Lovely story and a very kind deed, thanks Pat
that's amazing. there are still good people out there
As always - you remind us why you're the absolute legend of wild camping - great stuff as always Patrick
Wow, thank you, very kind, thanks Pat
Couldn’t agree more!
What could be better than a bank holiday afternoon with Patrick on the TV. Brilliant. 🤩
Thank you Andrew....Pat
"I've returned the campsite to exactly how it was before I camped. Nobody would even know that I had been here. And that's how it should be". And yet you still lived like Louis XIV in those few hours in a hedge. Such wise words, appreciation of life, culture and nature, and promotion of responsibility are why you are such a legend to so many folk Pat. Thank you for another thoroughly entertaining video! Cheers. Rich. 👍
Thanks Rich and such kind thoughts, it is so easy to leave a place tidy just as you found it, to be there for many more years....thanks Pat
"What's that smell?"
"Oh it's only Pat flambéing his crêpe Suzette in the woods". Brilliant video, thanks for all the effort you put into it. Really made my day.
My pleasure!.....yes a few people would be wondering were the lovely smell was coming from....thanks Pat
Glad I'm not the only one that does this in and around Sheffield, I go out most days in the surrounding woodlands to sit in the bushes and make a brew or dinner. so lucky here to have such greenery around our city.
Yes some beautiful spots all within the city...thanks Pat
You might bump into me 😆
That was wonderful. Must be a huge amount of work put into entertaining us for over 45 minutes. Thank you very much for brightening up our days. What a legend !
Many thanks!
Pat does Keith Floyd. Thanks for the videos Pat. They've been keeping us going throughout this crazy year.
Great that they have helped, all the best Pat
I would have watched another 90 minutes of that Patrick. There is never a dull moment and thank you for taking the time to plan and edit this video. Take car and I am waiting for the next one buddy with eager anticipation .
Wow, thanks, nice of you to say, thanks Pat
Christ on his bike Pat...😳. You are a genius. 🐸 legs and flambé crepes? What the hell am I doing with a dehydrated meal. Looking forward to me invite to your next pop up restaurant. Thank you for keeping me entertained. The local boy done good 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Paul, always like a theme to a video, and french food and drinks, just perfect. As you know with fiming it does not always go to plan, luckly with editing those mistakes can be hidden, got to think of something different now, thanks Pat
Your filming is great Pat. Blowed if I know how you do some of it - unless you're using the services of Universal Studios (or is it your wife doing those ariel shots on a zip wire?) Perhaps a behind the scenes video of your filming techniques would be very interesting (unless you've already done it and I haven't watched it yet)...? You are dead right about the temperatures - amazing difference between day and night this time of year. I'm watching this on the day that the French fishermen blockaded Jersey - good job your fish soup was Mediteranean and not Channel Islands!! Lot of pressure - can definitely see that - camping and cordon bleu cooking in a stealth situation in a Sheffield wood - great stuff!
Yes hopefully my how I make a video will reveal some secrets, basically for this video the opening scenes were made with the help of my drone, totally different angle to film from.
So cold at night, hoping to camp higher soon, may have to take some winter gear with me.... thanks Pat
Formidable! Thanks for 45m of sheer entertainment 🇫🇷
Your very welcome, thanks Pat 👍
Patrick thanks for the comedy show, been a fan for awhile now, before the shed pub, love a guy who can appreciate the simple things in life ,including a few beers ,meal was great, keep up the good work, you do make me smile.cheers.
Much appreciated....thanks Pat
If I ever stumble over a bin bag with a full bottle of wine I'll know what's going on
Haha, I always wonder if it will still be there when I go out...thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 We've all been tipped off now. The search for Pat's haul is on!
Ello Ello Pat. You had me and the hubby laughing right from the begining. Great to see you finally out and about . 👍👍 Can't wait for the next one.
Awesome video mate you are the king of wild camping chefs 🤌🏼
Wow, thank you
"Ello ello!" It's Pat on another wild camp. Good to see you again!
Thanks Sean
Thanks so much for your videos Pat. I suffer from some mental health problems but your videos always cheer me up and make me feel better. You are a Hero!
Hi and that's great that my videos are helping, all the best for the future.... thanks Pat 😊
Such a class act young Pat ! Thankyou for a little continental diversion , French style!
I miss France at the moment, so this was the next best thing...thanks Pat
"class act" - couldn't agree more. national treasure 👏
Nothing lifts my mood more than a Pat Dickinson video! Absolutely love your work and the hard graft thats put into these videos. Truly a inspiration and role model to all
Thanks Lewis, it's worth it for all the great comments......Pat
Here in Wales it's blowing up to a full gale and throwing it down but you've brightened my day Pat. Thank you.
Were getting it now....Pat
I'm in it meself, with a 5 ton motorhome, and the wind is all but knocking it over! And the rain, oyveh, the rain. But I'd be nowhere else by preference right now. No arty French vittles for me, oh no; just ploughmans x2 and 8 pints of stout. And PD on the 'tube. Class act, the bloke is.
yummy food....greetings from SW France
Thanks Simon, french food is just so nice, a different level of eating..... thanks Pat 👍
And there's me thinking there's no Bank Holiday specials to watch any more! - Cheers Pat! Glad to see you're escaping the shed.
Yes great to be out, looking forward to many more camps this summer, thanks Pat
i've watched everyone of your videos pat they never cease to entertain you make us feel part of it
thanks again pat ..
Thanks Andy, I like to think my viewer's are with me on these adventures..... thanks Pat
How lovely oooh la la, bonjour. I bet you are on top of the world. First camp in many a moon. Lovely seeing you today. God bless you,and keep you safe 💕
thanks mary, it was lovely to be back out, especially a woodland in Spring, thanks Pat
Inspired by your videos I bought a little tent a couple of summers ago, only got out once but this week have pitched it in some woodland at the back of my flat in Sheffield a spot very unlikely to be stumbled upon. I even saw a deer a couple of days ago, the first wild one I've seen other than in Scotland and north Yorkshire.
Up until a few months ago I had a large garden but I'll be spending my lazy summer days at my woodland hideaway wild camp site this year.
Yes these urban woodlands are great places to camp...thanks Pat
Not sure why but, with the music at the start and then you emerging from around the tree, I couldn't help thinking of the last of the summer wine lol. You do look a little like Compo too by the way ;)
I had thoughts of the French Ressistance, but it is probably nearer to Compo, haha....all the best Pat
Awwww flippin eck!
🤣🤣🤣
Nah that was proper ello ello that 😀👍
The problem is that I never liked Ello Ello (sorry, I just didn’t). But I absolutely loved The Last of the Summer Wine and Compo was a legend! Pat definitely fits into that second category :)
I have said it b4 and i will say it again..... You are the Keith Floyd of wild camping..... Top notch video.... Great to see you Patrick ....
Thanks Robert
Thanks for sharing this on a Bank Holiday, Patrick.
Its a pleasure, thanks Pat
Great business idea, culture, camping & cooking with Pat all polished off with a tipple of something nice. I’d pay for it, what an experience it would be. Yet another great video Pat!
Haha yes Barry I,am sure I would have a very busy time, I'll just stick to camping on my own,how I like it best, thanks Pat 😊
@@patrickdickinson6492 I don't blame you. Can't beat a bit of peace and quiet.
As I mentioned before you've been tempting me to go back to wildcamping here on Vancouver Island. We do tend to get bears and cougars near us however which changes the dynamic a bit ;)
We are very safe in that respect Jason, I would,nt want to camp if there were bears about... thanks Pat
same here in northern Michigan. Wolves have taken off like crazy, too. I legally can and do carry a sidearm.
You are such an inspiration to all congrats Patrick bon appitite
Thanks so much
i was out and about one day and a French man asked me if i liked pastis. i said i prefer sausage rolls
I think I like them all nice one, thanks Pat
Brilliant, saved this for my Saturday night ! What a guy 👍👍
Hope you enjoyed it Philip.... thanks Pat 👍
I forgot to say I am in my hammock watching you mate it's raind all night 😒😒😒
Forcast today is rubbish, hopefully you get away in the dry...Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 i never thought i would see a northerner eat frogs legs🤣
When I was younger (back in the 70s) we would wade beaver ponds here in eastern Virginia (US) at night with a light and gig to get our frogs. Delicious, like chicken, I would tell my daughters. Another wonderfull video, thanks.
Oh wow! amazing...mine came from a fish company frozen....thanks Pat
Wonderful. It takes me back to when I was picking grapes near Beziers. The farmer's wife turned up with a pan of snails cooked in garlic. Formidable!
Sounds just beautiful William...thanks Pat
I started watching this because I find M. Dickinson quite the captivating watch...but before long I became fascinated as to how one might cook up a fish soup on a leaf-strewn floor in the great outdoors. It's an impressive effort. Cheers!
Your very welcome, surprising what you can produce with a simple stove..... thanks Pat
Absolutely 💯 Patrick...... Best 👍 camping vids !!! Keep em coming matey ! ..... 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks, will do!
That is a magical place you have found Pat and you made my mouth water with your cooking. Thank you.
Thanks Stan, certainly my little bit of France for the night.... thanks Pat
Well that looked delicious. Love French food, and French food on a wild camp even better 😋
Yes jußt the perfect meal, in a perfect place, thanks Pat 😊
There’s only one Patrick Dickinson.
Fantastic.
No gamekeeper or drones looking in that neck of the woods.
I spent the weekend doing reckies.
Found a new isolated glade. Hopefully be using it at the weekend.
Great video Pat.
Loved every minute of it
Stay safe 🔥
Yes safe down here, might be a bit more wary now up on kinder, thanks Pat
Good to see you out in the woods again Pat on another wild camp 😀
Thanks 👍
A wonderful expedition Pat. Magnifique!! Thanks very much.
Many thanks!.........all the best Pat
It's good to see Patrick back to doing what Patrick does best, I am going to have a go at the fish soup
it looks very quick and easy to make, and that is the way I like cooking to be.
Hope you enjoy...really wasy and so tasty and filling, thanks Pat
I watched the last video again. I go to the sea myself for the summer, or really for the whole year. The house is what it is, but can withstand winds and gusts. Simple life but wonderful. I wish you and the family all the best ... I look forward to the new video. Respectfully. Dennis
thanks Dennis
Absolutely loved this one Patrick. Made me smile.xx
That's what counts most..... thanks Pat
Great to see you back out doing what you love Pat, top man take care fella 👍✌
Good to be back out David.... thanks Pat 👍
Magnifique repas, bien fait!
Merci Tony....all the best Pat
Patrick - I've watched your videos for several years and each time is as interesting as the last! Your videos are wonderful! Thanks and please keep going!
Really nice of you to say Jason, always trying to come up with new ideas...... see you on the next one.......thanks Pat
Bonjour Le frogs legs eater Anglais ! I ate them when I was working in France and was surprised how nicw they were ! Thanks for another semi-wild camp Patrick !
It's a pleasure Malcolm

Fantastic Pat, merci beaucoup👍🥂
Your very welcome Mark.... thanks Pat
Great cookery lesson Pat! You keep me going through the darkness! Thumbs up!
Been my pleasure, love cooking and love french food as well.... thanks Pat
Thank you for bringing me wild camping. I went last weekend with a few mates from work, we camped in Maryland, USA
Wow sounds great....good to have you along on my little French trip, thanks Pat
What an amazing camp cooking video
Very inspirational
Thanks Tony, love French food, and French drinks, so why not included it in a camping video, love making these types of videos...... thanks Pat
Good to see what you do best and now we have added fresh cooking to the list. No English breakfast though well you have plenty of time for those in the future. What a great camp location secluded in the woodland loving the birdsong and the french cooking the fresh soup looked good with all that fish. Stay safe and see you again soon.
Thanks David, yes a woodland in Spring, just perfect, thanks Pat
video of pure excellence ..that English woodland birdsong..soothing with any snap pat ...nice one .all the best ..steve
Thanks Steve, just being out in the woods in Spring, that was the best thing, the food and drink just a added bonus..... thanks Pat
Pat, you are brilliant. I believe that you could have been big in entertainment, even in the French film industry of the 1970s. Can you remember the great films they produced, a lot better than the Hollywood rubbish. For a Sheffield lad you carry so much culture. Peace be unto you.
Hi Martin, didn't really get into filming until I retired, great asa hobby, not sure about a career though, at least now I just produce my videos for pleasure and fun....... thanks Pat
That was superb sir. Great episode.
Thanks Adam....glad you enjoyed it😁, thanks Pat
Oh Pat you are a legend. Made us want to go find some Sheffield woods. Thankyou for sharing your adventures, inspiring 👍
Thanks 👍
What a legend ✋ one to cheer us all up after the restrictions of this bloody pandemic. A touch of class in the great outdoors. Take care buddy and stay safe 😷 ATVB from sunny and locked down Malaysia 😷🏕🇲🇾
Sunshine, not seen that for a while, but nice to hear from you Razif.... thanks Pat
Thoroughly enjoyed that Patrick.
I'm laid up with long covid.
It's keeping me sane. Thanks.
Hope your better soon Robert, all the best Pat
The little "hmm" at 19:07. 🧡 it. I have never had 🐸 legs, and I don't think I ever will. Just not my kind of food. My wife and daughters will definitely try it, given the opportunity.
Thanks for the effort and time you out into this.
I had to make an edit note
There is so much humour in this vid. Too bad I can only give 1 👍
Bon appetite 😋.
Edite note 2
You can have eggs and bacon when you have a (french) continental breakfast.
We just don't have the beans, kippers, sausages, and definitely no kidneys 😉.
Love trying different food, and frogs legs fitted the bill perfect and glad you got the humour, makes a video so much more enjoyable to watch, especially in the present climate, thanks Pat
Brilliant as ever Patrick. Very enjoyable.
Thanks Clive
Hi pat at least you done this right alone in the woods not like other people heading for hills and lady bower rez and getting turned back and stopped for camping great to see you out and about not stuck in your pub shed great video 👍👍👍👍
Yes at the moment it's sensible to keep a low profile and be stealthy were we camp, hopefully back to our old ways soon, thanks Pat
Love watching your videos and having a drink with you Patrick. Keep up the great work
Thanks Freddy, great to share a drink with you, thanks Pat
Sitting here at home in France watching. Reminds me of how it all started with me and a book my sister gave me for my birthday. 'Backpacking in Britain' by Robin Adshead........It disappeared over the years but I came across a copy whilst in an old book shop a few years ago. £2.50...... I couldn't hand over my money quick enough. Also remember having a 'Camp trails' catalogue which was the 'in thing' back then....I was young and had no money but my dream was a 'Robert Saunders backpacker' tent, a 'Camp trails' rucksack and a 'Trangia'....Eventually I ended up with a nylon 'Vango force ten' a 'Karrimor' rucksack and 'SVEA 123' stove....Still got them and still use them.....If only I had your cooking skills Patrick.........
Yes Richard, some old backpacking books were like bibles describing in detail the way to actually live comfortably and lightweight in the hills. The early gear was so well made, that,s why we are still using it today, thanks Pat
Awesome, epic, uniquely different wild camp as only Mr. Patrick Dickinson could come up with! 👏
Thank you Pat for sharing your wisdom with us.
All the very best.
Take care,
Steve. 👍👍🍷
Thanks Steve, a couple of pints and these ideas suddenly appear in my head...... thanks Pat 😊

@@patrickdickinson6492 Obviously applies to booze too Pat! Lord knows how you stay so slim! Fast metabolism!
You have to take your time, wait for it. This video is not a quick hit and run. Love the content, so individual. Really enjoyed it. Galloping Gourmet in a tent!
Yes, you got it, this is my idea of a wildcamp, all the best Pat 👍
I enjoyed every minute. Thanks Pat!
Thanks Doug, loved making it, thanks Pat 😊

Another brilliant camp Pat! Great to see you back again. I will out to leave a little stash in the woods on Thursday before my camp, what a great top tip... Thanks again. 😁
Used that method alot, especially when no water...... thanks Pat
I saw you on Sunday walking up Manchester Road and shouted hello, we were properly star-struck! The night before we were watching this video, roast beef dinner cooked in the oven, and Ladybower plughole, top effort! All the best 👍
Yes remeber a car going past and people waving, I was out for a walk with the wife, that's what she thinks, I was actually rece some campsites in the area, as I spent my childhood roaming about Rivlin valley, all the best Pat
As always Pat...another enjoyable video👌
Thanks Mal, a pleasure to make.... thanks Pat
Absolutely brilliant yet again 👏...by far the best TH-cam channel..
Wow, thank you!
Love to watch you cook delicious food . Thank you so much for your awesome videos. ATB Gail from Worcester Massachusetts USA 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Hi Gail, yes hope to be back out cooking later on, but enjoying a break at moment, recharge my batteries and hopefully comeback with some new ideas, or just the old ones........ thanks Pat 😊
Hi Patrick really enjoyed this , can’t wait till the next one thanks for sharing Best Regards Tim
Thanks 👍
Thanks Pat. I really enjoyed, as always.
Glad you enjoyed it
Bloody Cracking Video Patrick. We had Frogs legs 🦵 on a School Holiday. We all thought we’d had chicken. When the teacher Mrs Burns said how was your meal. She said you’ve had frogs legs. All the lads honked up. The lasses were laffing.
Fantastic Camp 🏕 thanks for sharing Fella.🙏🏻
Oh wow!....but I can believe it, just like chicken....all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 it was 1968/9 a coach trip to Switzerland via France. I was 11/12 “Frogs Legs” crazy cos we all loved it as chicken wings. Well that’s what we had assumed. 😂🤣😂
Great video Patrick, thoroughly enjoyed, thank you.
Your very welcome Dave.... thanks Pat
Lovely to see you again, Patrick! I was, however, hiding my eyes a bit when you flambéd the pancakes mind! 🤣...classic as usual! 😊👍
Thanks Dewi, nearly burnt my fingers there !!..... all the best Pat

I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I enjoy your videos. I was born and raised in Sheffield in the roughly the same neighbourhood (up near Whiteley Woods). I moved away as an adult, first to London for work, and then most recently I was living in San Francisco for 10 years. Last year I was thinking it was time to return home though, so started looking for Sheffield videos on youtube, which is when I stumbled across your channel. Your videos helped remind me how good it would be to be back here in Sheffield again. So I'm back here in Sheffield as of the end of last year, just a few mintues walk from the parks leading up into the peaks. Sadly with the timing of the lockdown, and unfortunately now going through cancer treatment, I haven't really got out much yet. But thank you so much for continuing to make these lovely videos. They make me feel happy to be back in Sheffield and remind me of some of the things I am most looking forward to enjoying when things get back to normal. I'll keep watching them for as long as you keep making them. Thanks again!
Hi Alex and hope yoy get back to normal soon, yes I was born on Oakbrook Rd oppostite Whiteley woods, but I never left and still live only a coiple of miles away.
Yoy may of noticed the city is changing rapidly due to all new contruction works, but luckly the hills and parks have stayed the same.....all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 Felt a bit surreal bumping into you today. Thanks again for all the great videos you've shared.
@@lxpollitt Hi Alex, just found your comment, great to bump into you last week, always nice to meet my viewers, we both live in a lovely area, just walked up to Nethergreen where I was born, nice cup of coffee in the cafe on Oakbrook rd, may bump into you again, hope everything works out OK, all the best Pat
A Sheffield legend..love your videos Pat
Thanks Paul, nice of you to say, thanks Pat
Allo Allo Sir Patrick! Classic Allo Allo wild camp and Allo Allo was a classic tv show which was so funny to watch and Gordon Kaye was the best in show. Great French food and classic wild camp. You picked a great little spot and the French meal looked very nice!
I've never tried frogs legs but I've tried squid and was nice.
Great to see you out camping again so things are starting to look better now that we are slowly getting back to normal now. I've bought new tents 4 season ones that's so lightweight.
Friday I did a wild camp in the highlands near the Cairngorms national park and it felt fantastic! Last night I got back home and so so tired because it was so much fun!
Glad you enjoyed that French meal and soup take me back when I had something like that in iloret de mar in Costa Brava seaside resort and I remember the scotch corner to get great meals.
Those were the great days
Glad you got a good day for cooking french meal and wine to add the flavour! How about a last of the summer wine wild camp theme and another great classic British tv series. That would be awesome as nora batty and compo were so classic together!
Another classic wild camp from you and stay safe and well!!!
Hi and glad you got out on your wildcamp, such a great feeling, and your right very tiring, the physical side of it, but also the mental side of it, has your planning gone to plan.
I like to have a theme for my wild camps and as I can not travel to France, this was a good excuse for a camp
Looking forward to a better year all the best Pat 😊
Pat you have the best wild camp ideas!
A couple of pints and the ideas just appear in my head....thanks Pat
Quelle superbe vidéo, j'ai beaucoup apprécié Pat. Au revoir pour le moment.
Merci Stu, so good to be back out camping, hopefully Kinder Scout next....thanks Pat
No one can ever say you are boring! Thank you Patrick.
