Snails take no action to pick up or release the flukes, and you'll likely never find the one that hosted the parasite that infects you, since it lasts 2 days after leaving the snail. Mosquitos on the other hand, can only transmit through direct harm to you.
It's like a person that unknowingly buys food someone tampered with, eats some, then puts it in the kitchen where we can have some too and we both get poisoned vs. a serial shoelace thief that is sometimes followed by his friend that likes stabbing people.

Snail bounces off a rock, cracks its shell all to shit, and lands in the grass. Snail lies there dying. But it doesn't die. It eats some grass. Slowly heals. Grows a new shell. And after a while it can crawl again. One day the snail up and heads back to the front of the house. Finally, after a year, the little guy crawls back on the porch. Right then, the man walks out to go to work and sees this snail again. So he says to it, 'What the f***'s your problem?'

If you have ever had "swimmers itch", then you have been infected by a cercaria larva that was looking for a waterfowl host but burrowed into your skin and died. Swimmers itch or duck itch is caused by a species of the same family of flukes but they are specific to waterfowl. The foreign body (dead larva in your skin) causes your immune system to create histamines which then cause the itchiness.

They are parasite worms, you know. And as all the parasite worms, they have no need other than reproduction. They need no developed digestive system, because blood cells around them can easily be digested even with the inferior one; inside the host's body these parasites have no no threats they need to actively respond, so they need no neural system either. The only thing they need is to breed, and so they did the breeding throughout all the evolution, aand of all the parasites only the ones with exceptional reproductive systems persisted through natural selection. So, that would be strange, if this exact species did have a pretty average reproductive system.

edit: this was a joke and reference to plague inc, but I do actually develop my symptoms before my transmission, as they're cheaper. I do however try to avoid any lethality until i've infected every country.

I usually start with transition between people and THEN with symptoms, since you have to kill all the humanity - you need to infect everybody, plus the symptoms could mutate and appear but itself and evolve into lethal one which you don’t want to use
      Yet
Unfortunately it’s working only on few plagues, not for everybody, coz for some you need to spread and kill victims instantly.

THANK YOU! For a wonderful and informative video. I just discovered you today.
Schistosomiasis or bilharzia is a very real and present problem in Sub Saharan Africa as you state. I spent a couple of years there several decades ago and we were warned about watching for snails before we entered any fresh water system. I was a Biology major and knew a good bit about tropical diseases before I went there so I was glad the orientation program included a decent section on such.
Copper sulphate is often used as a disinfecting agent in swimming pools in that area (not that there are MANY of those!) and this chemical will dye the hair of blond people. I remember a scene of three ladies with long blond hair sitting on the edge of a pool... with GREEN TINTED hair! At least they wouldn't be getting Schistosomiasis!
