Should have won two Oscars. Both lost in their best sporting actor categories that year. And no one cares about Michael Caine in Cider House Rules or Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted now.

i remember him winning the award for best supporting actor but I was a teen at the time but I remember him being the youngest to win and I googled it and it said he won but then another time I looked it up it said the movie was nominated for many but didn't take home a win but that answer doesn't make sense to me because I remember hearing about the win when I was a teen

I saw this several times before I noticed Vincent and Cole both had a small shock of white hair by their right ear. Cole tells Malcom a good story needs a twist. While well known for his twists now, this was our intro to M Night so we didn't know or expect a twist so we were all shocked at the ending. What was especially cool in 1999, there was no social media to spoil the ending for those who hadn't seen it yet. Phenomenal movie.

  • @toukie

What breaks my heart about this movie is you learn his wife was depressed because she somehow could feel him in the house, so she couldn't let go and be happy
And you learn that Cole's grandmother couldn't pass on until she let her daughter know how proud she was of her.
One thing that broke my heart on rewatch(es) is you see the exact moment Cole decides to tell Malcolm how to talk to his wife, and by doing so, meaning Malcolm would pass on and he would lose his confident. Yet, even know that, he still helps Malcolm.
Also, the step mother had started poisonning the little sister. When they walk up to the house, you can hear someone say in the background that the little sister was also getting sick. The big sister saved her little sister by going to get help from Cole.
This movie never gets old. Even if you've watched it again and again, it always gets to you.

Yours was my favorite Sixth Sense reaction...I've watched them all.
Everybody acknowledges Haley Joel Osment's performance, but you seemed especially appreciative. Do yourself a favor and watch Christian Bales' first role in Spielberg's 1986 drama Empire of the Sun. For some reason (maybe three-hour duration) nobody has been put on to it and I think there's only one reaction to it from a couple years ago. It's impossible to like it less than the Sixth Sense!
Thanks for your time and effort...your newest sub.

Go back and watch it again. Look for all of the red in the movie. It's a clue that there is something happening involving ghosts : the red crystal doorknow, the red church robe, Cole's red tent, the statue Cole took had a red cape, Anna wears a red dress at the anniversary dinner and a red shawl when she sleeps, Kyra's mother wears a red suit at the funeral, the red balloon at the top of the stairs and Cole's red sweater when he's attacked, red ink on the "upset words" paper, etc. Red is very purposefully used in this film.
Another thing to note, Toni Collette, who plays Cole's mother, was mourning the loss of a loved one, and was sad to see that her dreams of being an actress had not come to much. She'd had plans to taking her own life just before she was handed this script by M. Knight Shyamalan, to read her part right there to herself in front of him. She accepted on the spot. She said in an interview that this film saved her life, and helped her to grieve properly. She was so good in this role. Everyone was, actually.

One thing that confused me when I first saw this movie was why he wouldn't have his ring in his ghost form. After seeing a few of these reactions I realized why. Marriage is 'til death do you part.' He didn't have it because as he's dead, they aren't married anymore. I really like that detail, especially he first started realizing the truth after seeing his ring-less hand.

Wonderful reaction!! If you haven't seen the GOAT trilogy The Lord of the Rings, then do it!! Don't be put off by how long they are. I've yet to see a reactor who didn't howl at the end of each movie because it was over. In facr, the extended cuts do the same thing and make the lore a bit more cohesive. The fan base is enormous and can jump start a new channel. We watch to see who you are , and from what I see so far, you'll do well.
If you have seen LotR, then I recommend The Back to the Future trilogy. It was #1 until LotR replaced it. And it held first place for 25 years.

Why do guys feel this need to "hold it in like a champ"? It's a messed up world where we think like we're not allowed to feel things and be affected by them. There's so much beautiful stuff out there to enjoy fully, and we shouldn't be ashamed of that or afraid of it. Masculinity doesn't have to be toxic.
