I had a 1984 KDX 80 for my second bike. What an amazing motorcycle for a child growing up in the early 80’s. Thank you for reminding me of those childhood memories Mr. Kaplan! Those were the best days of my life as a child.
I had a 82" in 1986.. I was 5yrs old. My dad brought it home before I even had my training wheels off my pedal bike.. True Story, I ran it into the fence, the swing set, the side of the house!! Lol I loved it!!
Bless your heart Ken. It’s got to be a bummer to get to revisit all of these fantastic bikes and reminisce when they were in their days of glory. Thank you for the memories brother!
i just picked one up tonight for 200 bucks. motrs got great compression. trans felt tight. its about 90% complete. gnna restore it for a lil toodler round the rivertown. i worked on a yamaha gt80 last week and really pepped my interest in an old small cc 2 smoker.
I had an ‘86 also. Thought it was the cats meow until the day I got my ‘87 KX80. Then I realized what a real beginner bike this was, bulletproof or not. The KX ripped!
Do u have the wire layout for this or know where i can get magneto coil cdi or what is to make this fire i bought it and it was apart need to see the wire layout
He said that early 80's air cooled 80cc two strokes were statistically easy to flip I had a 79 KX 80 and an 81 KX 80 and I flipped both of those so many times riding wheelies so the statistics were right I always thought they flipped easy because of the powerbands on those 80's
@@hamburgerklay7679 the back fender is different the original had a bend in the rear fender kinda looked corny I see why he put a different one on this one

Bought this bike at 13 for $100 out of my own savings. Rebuilt her up after like $500 bucks and owned her for several years. My first dirt bike.

I have a 1984 kdx 80. That was my first bike and my dad and I restored it. I believe that was the only year and model that Kawasaki made red.
That was hands down the toughest 80cc I ever owned, and I've owned most!
My brothers first dirt bike! That sound brought me back. Thank you for sharing Brother 👍🤘😎

I put A LOT of miles on one of those as a kid. I had kind of forgot about it until I just stumbled across this video.
I had an '86 when I was but a wee tot -- these bikes are bulletproof. In tight woods, I could outrun my friend's CR80R.
I had an 86 also. And could out ride both of my friends on the track that had a YZ80 and a CR80,they werent great at track riding .Fun times
I always found that uni-trak linkage pretty cool.

The 85 and 86 were super cool! They had those bad boy much needed side number plates like the big brother KX80. ❤
Find a mint 1989 kx80 💯 awesome looking kdx you got there
I loved my kdx 80 I could climb anything
I yearned for this bike along with the other 2-stroke 80s.....my dad wanted a 4-stroke for me....nice xr100 but man it was slow.
You gotta try a kdx! They’re reputation is mostly underrated, but get a nice luggin e series and you’ll probably never let her go.
I'd love a KDX 200/220 kitted to be a dual sport.
You have got the best job in the world 👍

Surprised I haven't seen a Yamaha Big Wheel or Honda Fat Cat on this channel yet. I gotta go down there some time

The kdx or the xr couldnt touch the yz or rm of the day.
The XR was a 4-stroke.
