it's the lowest culture of 'art'. There's a reason it's a crime to destroy other people's property you don't own. Maybe you would love your house to be 'bombed'.
My best advice would be for anyone who feels like they can’t wrap their head around it, look up the people who do it completely legit at least quick. There’s channels that record themselves doing it illegally (I think art is still good but people obviously will disagree between right and wrong) but the channels/artists that respect others are the easiest to digest and appreciate the art form in my opinion, unless you don’t judge people for maybe breaking the law if the ends justify the means. Some beautiful things have been done without permission, sucks to see it covered sometimes

I write “BEOR” currently. I used to write “DAOS” but got arrested on that name and didn’t like how blocky the letters were. After I got arrested I was thinking about how I could continue graffiti or I could not continue. To BE OR not to be, that is the question. I felt like that could be applied to basically anything, not just to graffiti. So I started writing “BEOR” cause that meant something cool to me. Every once in a while, I add “NOT” so it reads “BEOR NOT” and sometimes I just say fuck it and put up a “WHERE” throw up cause I like that it isn’t connected to BEOR so it’s not obvious it is me and people who see it later on don’t know where it came from. I like that when I do graffiti, even if the viewer doesn’t know it, I’m asking a question and hopefully making them think. I know the letter combos aren’t the craziest in the world, but I like it. Edit: spelling errors
@auxin903 tbh it wasn't that bad. They didn't get violent or anything. There was nothing I could really do, because they drove past me as I was tagging and flashed their lights. honestly DISK just as it is is good but with a mix of this and my current style it looks okay, and if you are wondering why i chose it cause it is simple but when something good is done i can hold a lot of space
My 10yr grandsons has changed his tag a few times he stated at the age of 7yr I went out the first time he went graffiti he was frightened went back out with him a few days ago he so confident now he as good as most adults
Yarn bombing has always been my street art of choice, but I stopped this video in the middle to play around with letters because it's just so interesting. I'm moving soon and I'll probably use some of this information to make a new yarn bombing name.
I’ve gone with ‘Crow’ mostly because when I was a kid, my childhood home had a crow family living in the tree in the garden, and I got really close to them and once or twice they’d bring coins and cool little trinkets (which I’ve all kept btw) and also because you can do some pretty cool things w the ‘o’ lol
I’ve done pyro, syno, diko, synth, s36, but I’m now on w73. I like the roll of w and 7. Just the way that after you finish up with the w and drag the marker upward it’s naturally ready to come back down with the 7
You add the line on the beginning down and add a slash in the bottom point?? Like a crocked n and a t...? If u get what I mean. I don't remember who showed me maybe my dad or my mom but they must've learned it from their parents.
I'm super new to graffiti, and ive loved this art form for a very long time now. ive hashed out a word that i like and ive got it shortened and long... however i only seem to like doing it in a bubble style font. my word is baesik or baes in short.
Sometimes it does take longer to find the style of the name in other ways but at the same time there are lots of artists that are just recognized for one style
Awesome vid! Definitely giving me ideas on how to evolve my style. Started out as "Mess Hard" going off my job. I'm a bike messenger. We in the culture call it mess life. And i do that shit hard hence the name. My good homie actually evolved it for me when he called me "messy" one day cause my shit was sloppy and bad. Lol I found a font I liked and just started practicing and coming up. I think it's time to get a marker and pad and see what my next iteration is. 🤙✌️
I've been using "Spoon" as mine for a while, but I still haven't found a way of writing the two "O"s together. I really enjoyed the part on negative space. Makes me want to get back to the drawing board.
This is what i was looking for, understanding letters for can pick the best flowy combo, this must be the best video on how to pick a tag name! Good Job bruh! Love it, you really helped me out and a bunch of upcoming graffiti artist coming up
i'm thinking about getting into the scene but i'm having trouble thinking of a good name, this video helped me see why some names work better than others
I'm rolling with PULS right now and I was wondering why I liked doing it so much and now thanks to your vid I now know it's because of the utilisation of negative letters.
mine is makz, i first started of writing sage but after awhile i felt it was too common so i started writing makz, i came up with it cuz of my last name. havent really thought of changing it, sometimes i dont write the z and ive slowly been getting better and more consistant.
all i've been trying to do for the past week is make a few graffiti graphics to put on the walls of my COD map, and now i'm obsessed with graffiti typefaces.
this is really cool, and I'm learning more and more about the art of graffiti! I even started playing around with how different words look while watching and came up with one I really like. great stuff!
Hey nice video, im painting 'Akra!' wich is a french carribbean snack (look for acra de morue). I love the K R combo, but the fact that Akra begin and end with the same letter make the name really hard to master. Picking a name with two time the same letter might not be a good idea when you begin. Also i have a question, in France it is very common to add letter and substitute other, for exemple "Akra" can be "Acra", "Aqra", "Ackra" or even "Hackra" its a thing i love cause it can totally change the way you write of course but also the meaning of the name "Hackra" can be translate to "Will hack". Do you guys practice this too ?
Love the story haha I’ll have to check out the snack. Maybe a bit less common for the alternate spellings but I’ve definitely seen it done haha always catches me off guard
Mines Zinx but i'm struggling with putting the z and the i together my tag, and also trying to get the shape right. I got this because I just liked the letters. I know it probably wont be this forever considering i'm still on paper. I have actually seen how it is in spanish and I like it, so I might even right that as my tag too. Love this, I have actually learnt more about graffiti from watching your videos, so thank you!
Nice, definitely has some tricky negative space in the mix. I could see an uppercase I helping with the fitting well with the z. An nx combo is no joke either!
i have a five letter one. my tag is CASHK. its my nickname and it was hard to make it look good but now its very cool! i love the videos, keep up the good work!❤️
I’ve always just used my initials, and an X, but I know that I’ll probably get busted for that pretty easily, so I wanna find a cooler one., this was great!
I usually alternate between 3 names SopPop, Warfl, and YerToast. All my names are based off of foods and pop is the sound a soda can makes when you open it. SopPop got annoying to write because of the double P so I usually write Sopop or just write Sop. Pop came from the word Soda Pop but Sop is a modification of a nickname my uncle calls me
I chose the name Hatter, and the double Ts in the middle are so hard, but I love the Mad Hatter and I'm sticking with it, with practice it will become easier
Ive been doing tagging and graffiti for a while and at the start i just went straight into it. Now i learned the Alphabet technique and i understand it alot more my name which i chose is Silo even tho the L has some space i changed the style of O and now its beautiful.
Lesgo banger vid, i picked in2ition or in2it for short, just thought it sounded pretty cool and fit me pretty well, but the letters are pretty hard to work with
I'm a few months into writing and have a few names I've been messing with, BOLD and VIKING which was abandoned for looking too toy for me. But the ones I mess with most are DRiP (which I feel has to be taken but it's fun) and different ways of doing "&THEN?" more or less punctuation, changing ampersand style or spelling it ANDEN, NDN. I'm also trying other words and practicing alphabets in case something else comes to mind
I tried looking for a graffiti and thought that a different language would be interesting. The Cyrillic alphabet is pretty interesting to me and I’m trying to see if I can work with that
These videos clarify so much … a year in I can’t stick to one name for shit but some lessons I’ve come to naturally like your point on negative space. Not sure how but coincidentally one of my favorites I’ve written is LAPS. The letters create the style before you do. I gotta send some stickers in soon love the channel
I started with (and still use) MISTERY, sometimes written a little different (I.e, a 1 instead of I, an O on the end, and a couple other ways). It means absolutely nothing, I just though it sounded cool :P
My graffiti name is SOCK and in short "SOC" what i normally go by and ive been using this name for about a year or two and ever since i started i watched "Graffiti Bloq" and you "SIVE" for information on graffiti letters in general.
I chose Otis B. Onions, a mouthful I know so I just throw up OBO. I know nobody will ever know what it stands for, most people will probably assume I play the oboe or something. I combined Otis B. Driftwood, from House of 1,000 Corpses, and Onions, from the Buckethead song ONIONS UNLEASHED, both of which are played by the legend Bill Moseley. It reminds me of watching Rob Zombie movies and playing GH2 with my big sister, I'd just play Jordan by Buckethead over and over and then she'd play Heart Shaped Box over and over while Devil's Rejects played on the DVD player.
Nice video. 👍 The story to my name EATNO is: First of I just wrote EAT, but like you sad, it could be readen as a crews name So I put "911" behind, cause I thought it would be cool, just like "Hey,this dude eats cops" or so. 😂 After a while, and cause I was tired of the numbers, it changed to EATNO. Writing it since 2008, made a longer pause but am doing in stickers and such for all the time since.
I'm gonna try and figure out JAX cause my parents were gonna name me, my name, or jaxon. And I like how it sounds cause it reminds me of jackal or my favourite cryptid, a jackalope
Current name is no one. Very easy to make swoopy. I used to write panda a long time ago. I'm thinking of changing to something with an r or k at the end.
I picked the name SPAZZ because my favourite band is named like that 🤣 Not original but I grew up with them and they basically helped me through shit over the years so they deserve that spot
I recently sprayed over "Anal Knight", so i guess that's something? I don't actually have a name, I would usually draw a piece instead of writing it so i just put a cat to symbolise it's me

honestly DISK just as it is is good but with a mix of this and my current style it looks okay, and if you are wondering why i chose it cause it is simple but when something good is done i can hold a lot of space
I’ve been using my tag ‘Zyrk’ for years and I love messing around with those letters :)
I remember how huge it was in the 70s and 80s especially in Yonkers, NY and NYC.
I'm loving the Graffiti though i! The styles colors and culture, each artist has a unique style . The more colorful the better in my opinion.
I never thought about negative space. Love the bottom of your "I" in jirk. Super sweet!
“H-O-W 4 VERY POWERFUL LETTERS “ (me wondering if i missed a step in counting my whole life )
me, in accelerated math: h-0-w its CLEARLY 6 letters divided by 3 times 2 divided by 2 times 3 times 2 smh /j
I’ve done pyro, syno, diko, synth, s36, but I’m now on w73. I like the roll of w and 7. Just the way that after you finish up with the w and drag the marker upward it’s naturally ready to come back down with the 7
Gotta love when the letters flow nicely into the next
Love the story and can definitely recommend taking it to the page to see what flourishes
I picked the name DEETS from being a city detailer, always putting my personal touch into the city around me.
haha this is too good!
Ive recently been getting into graffiti. This video has been a massive help! Still trying to find my tag name but I'll get there!
Great video. I've been trying to get some letters to work that don't naturally for a while and this helps a ton. So much insight here. Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Best of luck
I've been using "Spoon" as mine for a while, but I still haven't found a way of writing the two "O"s together. I really enjoyed the part on negative space. Makes me want to get back to the drawing board.
Double letters can definitely be tricky, can’t say I have found a perfect solution for most
Sp∞n
what abut using them as eyes?
@@vortex3012 on some pieces, I have done that. I'm talking more about tags, tho.
u can bind them together like in olympic logo.
something that i do with my O's is i make them more of a diamond shape to take up that space in the middle, just a lil something to think about
Started of with nicknames, now I write my own initials with is MCAP Nice letters that combine good.
Nice! The negative space at the top of the c is always a challenge for me. Good luck with it
i've been wanting a video like this for so long, thank you!!!!!
great breakdown for the negative space, i always had trouble with the L to the A transition, I always learn somethin from ur vids bro...one
I am just getting into graffiti, but I think it’s really cool and it’s really fun to do it on the back of math tests :)
I love ur stuff sive your videos always inspire me to push my graffiti further keep it up ❤
Ive been rocking the name Exogul. I was awake at 3 am and bunched random letters together. It looks really cool!
Sounds intense! Love it!
This is what i was looking for, understanding letters for can pick the best flowy combo, this must be the best video on how to pick a tag name! Good Job bruh!
Love it, you really helped me out and a bunch of upcoming graffiti artist coming up
My pleasure!
i'm thinking about getting into the scene but i'm having trouble thinking of a good name, this video helped me see why some names work better than others
I'm rolling with PULS right now and I was wondering why I liked doing it so much and now thanks to your vid I now know it's because of the utilisation of negative letters.
Hell yeah I can totally see how you could tuck the u under the p and lean the s over the l a bit! Nice pick
I just wanna say all y’all have really cool names!! Like damn seriously
Thx you’ve taught me a lot in my graffiti journey if I ever be a big graffiti artist you’ll be my start and help!
After all this, I've come out with Nessie. I use Ness as an online name, plus that badass monster :3
Your writing is amazing, love it ❤
mine is makz, i first started of writing sage but after awhile i felt it was too common so i started writing makz, i came up with it cuz of my last name. havent really thought of changing it, sometimes i dont write the z and ive slowly been getting better and more consistant.
THAT FAST IS SO GOOOOD
all i've been trying to do for the past week is make a few graffiti graphics to put on the walls of my COD map, and now i'm obsessed with graffiti typefaces.
this is really cool, and I'm learning more and more about the art of graffiti! I even started playing around with how different words look while watching and came up with one I really like. great stuff!
Awesome to hear the creative endeavors are alive and well
Hey nice video, im painting 'Akra!' wich is a french carribbean snack (look for acra de morue).
Couldn’t have explained it better thank you so much
My pleasure! Happy creating 🤘🏼
Such a great video for beginners it took me years to care about this stuff. Great to make people aware.
no way my first tag name was fast too! now watching this video for new inspiration because i really want to get into graffiti art
Haha that’s too funny! Best of luck on the creative endeavors
I really don't like the letter X. Zinx sounds like some Xbox gamer tag to me but if you like it then go ahead, not gonna judge
Blast the size of the Z and everything else should fallow like a money train.
@@mario-stumbleguys4458 you just did
@@Rrpelz77888 nah for me personally i wouldnt like that as my name
i have a five letter one.
my tag is CASHK.
its my nickname and it was hard to make it look good but now its very cool!
i love the videos, keep up the good work!❤️
Please make a TikTok a lot of people need to see this especially people on TikTok
I’ve always just used my initials, and an X, but I know that I’ll probably get busted for that pretty easily, so I wanna find a cooler one., this was great!
i picked out pesk i really fw the letter combo then i remebered resk 12 and i was like bruh it is almost identical but ima keep it for now
I usually alternate between 3 names SopPop, Warfl, and YerToast. All my names are based off of foods and pop is the sound a soda can makes when you open it. SopPop got annoying to write because of the double P so I usually write Sopop or just write Sop. Pop came from the word Soda Pop but Sop is a modification of a nickname my uncle calls me
Nice! Love the story to it
Been writing XASER recently the x is challenging but that's what I like about it and no one writes it I feel like it has a nice ring to it
Banger video you just saved my tags from changing thanks bro sm!!!❤❤❤
My pleasure! Best of luck on the creative endeavors
you doing great sive, go on!
I chose the name Hatter, and the double Ts in the middle are so hard, but I love the Mad Hatter and I'm sticking with it, with practice it will become easier
Best of luck!
@@S1VE Thank you!
Ive been doing tagging and graffiti for a while and at the start i just went straight into it. Now i learned the Alphabet technique and i understand it alot more my name which i chose is Silo even tho the L has some space i changed the style of O and now its beautiful.
Gotta love morphing letters to work with one another
I picked chol cuz my art style Is good with those letters
Very, very talented! I love tagging; it's fun to do, and I think it's so beautiful!
Couldn’t agree more!
Lesgo banger vid, i picked in2ition or in2it for short, just thought it sounded pretty cool and fit me pretty well, but the letters are pretty hard to work with
I like the concept for sure, and I’m sure a challenge to mix a number in
well that's a weird ass name
@@mario-stumbleguys4458 call it weird but i call it mine haha diss if u want
@@DChen123-b5l I like it, i think it’s unique, i dont think it’s weird, it adds a nice touch and personality
Love the heavy experimentation
My tag is CHILI. Long story short its a nickname that stuck over many years so i kinda rolled with it
I tried looking for a graffiti and thought that a different language would be interesting.
Awesome to hear the progress!
Right on! Stay up boss
I can't be the only one confused about the arrows in the before and after in the thumbnail at first.
I picked bingo, I found it pretty fun to write and being able to switch styles pretty easily aswell
Love it! Honestly surprised I haven’t heard it used before
@@S1VE yeah but I looked bingo graffiti up and it came up with another guy who died so idk if I want to keep using his name or change it
I have a monogram of my initials that I use. I also use Ciara, which was a character I created back in the day.
TY SM BROO My old tag was sketch but when I tagged it was pretty hard to read but I landed on Chief and Santo
Any time!
IIC3Y is my tag. I use the 3 and I to fill necatove space of the C
Nice video. 👍
The story to my name EATNO is: First of I just wrote EAT, but like you sad, it could be readen as a crews name So I put "911" behind, cause I thought it would be cool, just like "Hey,this dude eats cops" or so. 😂
After a while, and cause I was tired of the numbers, it changed to EATNO. Writing it since 2008, made a longer pause but am doing in stickers and such for all the time since.
I’ve been using ZEIK for years now. I try to emphasize the Z and K and keep it small for E and I in the middle so it looks kind of centered
I used that name like 10 years ago when i was a kid it was fun i saw one of my tags yesterdas it was so horrible🤣🤣🤣
I'm gonna try and figure out JAX cause my parents were gonna name me, my name, or jaxon. And I like how it sounds cause it reminds me of jackal or my favourite cryptid, a jackalope
This takes typography to a new level… I like it :)
I'm so excited to try
Good stuff, man. Thanks for doing this.
Great video! I love seeing someone’s workflow and thought process explained in a detailed manner such as this. Sub’d
Glad to hear you found it helpful! Stay up
Current name is no one. Very easy to make swoopy. I used to write panda a long time ago. I'm thinking of changing to something with an r or k at the end.
awesome, i used to throw up ''Know' One'' back in the days : )
I picked the name SPAZZ because my favourite band is named like that 🤣 Not original but I grew up with them and they basically helped me through shit over the years so they deserve that spot
excellent rational, run it!
quality taste that
fire band
Awesome video! great insights and i love the part where you talk about context! Inspirational! Stay up!
Thanks for the kind words, always glad to hear it was helpful! Best of luck on the creative endeavors!
I recently got into garffiti because of my friends and I was looking for a name and I looked at my hoodie the brand was MAS and I just use that now
I recently sprayed over "Anal Knight", so i guess that's something? I don't actually have a name, I would usually draw a piece instead of writing it so i just put a cat to symbolise it's me
I just stick to NJ because I’m too lazy to write Ninji. It’s a part of my identity.
