@@crystanubis Land/building are not personal things, legally however their isn't much of a difference in practice unless you don't pay taxes. In America almost all land and buildings owned by the government and are rented out to everyone. That is why off the grid living is never truly of the grid unless your a homeless hippie or a person rich enough to own a RV or just a big as car to live in. Private property just means that only you, people you and or the government authorize are allowed on your property. People like to think that they own their homes but there are a lot of situation in which the government can legally and in most cases unethically seize it.
vincere terram when the US was conceived the majority of american soil was divided into plots primarily free for anyone to use. businesses, farmers and families snagged plots of land and built america. the majority of land, housing and buildings people purchase are commodities bought from its previous owner, not the government. the US has levels of government, not one all-encompassing government that all of your money gets funnelled to. the majority of your taxes go towards your local government to maintain the area that you live in. the roads that connect you to the rest of the continent, a police force to mitigate the threats people can pose to your safety, and firefighters to prevent your belongings from being destroyed. if land isnt owned by another party then its owned by your local government. however since community growth is often encouraged, government owned land doesnt cost much. the federal government taxes you because youre living in a geographical area being defended from external threats, under a law that needs to be enforced to maintain stability and to provide the basic services needed for societal function. democratic governments are certainly corruptible but any other alternatives arent much better. the question is, do people want a world where they have absolute ownership of their property? would the freedom from taxes and government jurisdiction outweigh the toil of protecting and maintaining your own property, while relying on corporations/organized groups to provide infrastructure and affordable services? im sure most would agree there needs to be a unionized authority that provides for the very basic needs of a society. of course theres a problem when these authorities seize too much power but its either the world is ruled by governments, or monopolized supercorporations who will buy out and control every possible commodity. as depressing as it is, theres no such thing as true freedom in human civilization as we know it. perhaps when we evolve cognitively and slowly begin to abandon shallow desires such as greed and power can we move on as a species.
Why cant these "artists" be content to get a job and join the rest of the world? Or if they want to absolutely spend time making art why not perfect their craft in the privacy of their own homes and one day open a gallery and get paying contracts or something instead they just want to lash out at the freest country in the world that allows them to do this. If you lived in communist china or something where they beat you to death in the street if you dont agree to the politics or wtv THEN its cool and actually rebellious cuz your living in an oppressive system trying to mold you into what it wants against your will and life there is mundane and absurdly meaningless when you dont have control over your own destiny. Nobody is forcing them to do anything they dont want to do besides get a job they cant even appreciate the freedom they have to just be left alone. But left to their own devices they just destroy. Bunch of emotional betas looking for vain attention and illogically lashing out and biting the hand that feeds them. Why not be a man and overcome the anger?

Since I was a kid to this day I still appreciate walls, trains, street signs and anything covered in artistic graffiti.

as a kid in the 80's, i had a friend who was big into grafitti, i never quit understood why tho.....he would always have lots of paint, which if youve ever bought spray paint, you know isnt cheap, especially for a kid....it turned out his father bought him the spray paint....i found out his dad worked for the city, and was either in charge of the grafitti clean up, or involved in some other way, where more grafitti was job security :)
Why?Why should graffiti be about drugs, guns, violence, etc.? Why can't it just be about showing your style to people, to the city, as it appears in STYLE WARS? It's cool that they keep it real but it shouldn't be the way they show it
Here in Chicago there was to big graffiti crews one called ICE PACK n the other Areosoul if I'm not mistaken they had a battle but kept it in the graffiti part no guns no drugs none of that.
lot of dudes sell drugs to pay for graffiti. pack guns to protect themselves when they’re out painting. i don’t do either but i still paint. it’s up to the individual.
Watching this brings back memories when I would climb billboards and rooftops painting back to back smelling nothing but good ol aerosols. Walking down the train tracks in the night all by yourself hearing nothing but cars and the night life and the rush of just being in the moment in survival mode tryna make it home. And the relief and feeling of accomplishment when you’re home safe and going to get fresh day pics the day after. Unforgettable memories
It really pisses me off when these guys paint all over a historic mural in a small town like ours in Indiana. Like you cant undo that, it lasted a 100 years untouched until some guy came along and ruined it. Terrible
It’s currently 2022… and I just have to say I have always found the graffiti art cool. I live in Miami so I have seen a lot of the tags and though I don’t think them doing it on store front windows is cool but doing it in places like the side of the highway or side of buildings is cool with me.
There is no easier in this case, if anything because of the older generation the sentences for graffiti became heavier. In my country 30 years ago you would be a month in jail max. Now, for tagging a building you could get a year and a government owned vehicle or building (wich is almost everything here) you can get up to 15 years and a fine with a minimum of €1500.
I wish cities could commission people who know how to do good graffiti work (not just random tags of their names) so they could improve the more run-down urban areas. It would be a good project to keep kids off the streets too... I love looking at murals or interesting graffiti work, it gives a place a little more life
They do that here in Australia! Down in I think North Bondi beach, they have this huge wall full of commisioned graffiti that I think they change up every month. Graffiti artists will also sometimes ask some store's permission to draw up something on the side.
I told a buddy one time I could make his plain white cinder block wall look like the rock on his house. Then I did. Somebody else saw it and wanted it at their house and so on. Cheaper and easier than a real stone wall, hard to tell at a distance. At one house I painted all the exposed outside electrical boxes and conduit to match the brick behind it. Poof, they're gone. At one house I added a gnome sized door, a window and flower boxes. I know, it's not graffiti....but it pays well for side jobs. ( hahah "side jobs", ....walls).
There’s just something that happens when I see graffiti on old stuff, it makes me get this weird feeling like where are those people now and who did it lol. It’s hard to explain
There’s this big bridge I’ve drove under ever since I was little. It has white graffiti spanning from one end to the other saying “native land”. It’s been there for a very long time, nobody’s taken it down. The land did used to be native land long ago. I have no idea how the guy managed to spray it there, but thousands have seen it by now. Hope he knows it’s still there.

In the early 2000s, a tagger climbed a sign bridge over I-5 in downtown Seattle and fell while spraying an exit only sign. The kid survived. The state sent the 30-thousand-dollar bill to replace it to his parents since he was 17. Ooops.
@@SwitchFingers i dont have a problem with bombing. I grew up in an area crammed with tags and quick pieces. Highway sign bombing is just retarded though. Tagging and bombing pieces on commercial billboards is something i agree with though.
I just started graffiti and it really is addictive. I will never do anything offensive or anything to private homes/cars and such. It's art, honestly. Graffiti is an art form. Tags are a little bit of a gray area, but true pieces are the artist reaching out with their name. Graffiti is just an amazing thing to be a part of.

One of the best pieces of art on the east coast rides a cargo container. I've seen it for over fifteen years. It's the degeneration piece. *I would never write on others personal property*
*Literally draws on store fronts*
Glassify a store front is technically private property not personal property
Tobias Aaneland What's the difference?

Devin Moss I like street art but don’t fuck up murals and personal property
Let me see. You got a picture
It’s currently 2022… and I just have to say I have always found the graffiti art cool. I live in Miami so I have seen a lot of the tags and though I don’t think them doing it on store front windows is cool but doing it in places like the side of the highway or side of buildings is cool with me.
Why older heads gotta hate on younger heads for having it easier
There is no easier in this case, if anything because of the older generation the sentences for graffiti became heavier. In my country 30 years ago you would be a month in jail max. Now, for tagging a building you could get a year and a government owned vehicle or building (wich is almost everything here) you can get up to 15 years and a fine with a minimum of €1500.
I wish cities could commission people who know how to do good graffiti work (not just random tags of their names) so they could improve the more run-down urban areas. It would be a good project to keep kids off the streets too... I love looking at murals or interesting graffiti work, it gives a place a little more life
lmao that just feels like gentrifying graffiti and therefore ruining the entire point of it
Yeah, I think a lot of these people get off on the specific act of writing on other people's stuff.
That is exactly what some parts of Miami are doing. I've seen huge murals that are actually impressive in recent years.
They do that here in Australia! Down in I think North Bondi beach, they have this huge wall full of commisioned graffiti that I think they change up every month. Graffiti artists will also sometimes ask some store's permission to draw up something on the side.
Exactly what’s going on in Miami it’s wynwood
I told a buddy one time I could make his plain white cinder block wall look like the rock on his house. Then I did. Somebody else saw it and wanted it at their house and so on. Cheaper and easier than a real stone wall, hard to tell at a distance. At one house I painted all the exposed outside electrical boxes and conduit to match the brick behind it. Poof, they're gone. At one house I added a gnome sized door, a window and flower boxes. I know, it's not graffiti....but it pays well for side jobs. ( hahah "side jobs", ....walls).
