We’ve had Thatcherism since 1979 which serves the interests of the (mainly overseas) wealthy. The problem with Thatcherism is that you eventually run out of assets to sell to overseas investors so that they can rip off British consumers.

Europe has always been at war with each other and colonization was how they funded their wars and enriched the aristocracy amd monarchy. Many countries in Europe still have monarchies who are all related. So the system of feudalism is still in place. They haven't moved forward. They've maintained the status quo since the Roman Empire.
