I really hate Doug. Ste was standing there trying to explain and wanting to talk and not even asking for forgiveness just for a way to move forward and Doug hears Brendan's name and is off like a shot! He's done nothing but moan about Brendan and bury his head in the sand through this whole relationship...no wonder they have no chemistry...Doug keeps running away from the chance to make them into a real partnership because he refuses to talk to Ste about anything important.
On the other hand, Brendan and Ste obviously love each other to a completely different degree than Ste and Doug do. I feel like nobody gets Brendan the way Ste does, probably because they have both had a terrible past. Which explains why they are the way they are while it of course doesn't redeem them of their actions.
For me the scene between Brendan and Ste is a closure on their past so that they can start over in a completely different way. I believe in Stendan, always have, always will
For Brendan to hear Ste say, "my mum didn't make me hit Doug...didn't make me knock Amy about" as Brendan himself has been trying to sort through his own actions in relation to his childhood abuse...must switch on a light for him as well.
And you know ... Brendan is not a good person. And he knows it. He isn't in denial about who he is and what he does. He knows that hitting Ste was wrong and he can admit it because he loves Ste. But that doesn't excuse him or his actions - and it doesn't cure him of his outbursts and his anger. So yeah, Ste is a better person than Brendan and probably always will be. But they are both learning from each other.
also I have to say, I would be as upset as Doug tho that my fiance spoke to his ex about our situation but evidently, Ste's reaction to this clearly shows he's unaware of how this should be upsetting because he still loves Brendan which is why he is comfortable with being open and honest with him.
I love that no matter what happens, brendan is showing genuine remorse for what he did to Ste. I found it very touvhing that Brendan wouldn't let Ste compare himself to him. I think this is the step forward they needed to start again. Now Ste knows why brendan did it, they can start on working together to rebuild what was taken from them, they are strongest when they are together! STENDAN!!
I have always loved it when Ste and Brendan actually TALK to each other. Yes, yes, the passion and hotness of them gettin' it on is nice, but when they actually communicate with each other, you can see that there is something real and honest between them - even without the sexual aspect of their relationship. I said it before: I REALLY like this friendship that is finally flourishing between them. I do feel for Doug, though, too. I wish he'd not let his insecurities hinder him so much, though.

Oh boy oh boy ... here's the thing: I like Doug. I do. He's a great guy. But I feel that if he hadn't even bothered about Brendan and instead focused all his attention on Ste instead, they would probably have worked out. Ste never got the chance to actually JUST be with Doug because Doug felt inferior to Brendan all the time. Which is nonsense, obviously.

trying to remain unbiased, i took from it that ste feels more comfortable talking with brendan. they both have so much in common and share a similar past, that that's made a connection that i don't really think doug could fully grasp (nor did he even try to). ste and doug never seem to have any deep meaningful conversations. in this scene it was brendan who was the one to really come through for ste, listened to him, and put his needs first. i think it shows growth and a form of equality.
Look again, in practically every meaningful scene involving Doug and Ste, there's Brendan in the background, Their first kiss, he barged into their store like he owned the place, when they had their first time he was there at their apartment for god's sake xD, even after their engagement, it wasn't actually Brendan but it was related to him. and I don't think the only reason why Doug gets like this is because he thinks Ste will choose Bren over him but also because he's seen what Bren is capable
I do hope the story continues to go into Ste's psyche to explain why he reacts violently. Because he is right about most people being able to handle stressful situation without reacting violently but he can't. I like Ste a lot but there is something dark within him that he needs to fix. We know why BB is this way b/c of his father. We need to see Ste's past for a better understanding of what shaped him.
I like Stendan a lot. The abuse is terrible and horrifying and still it feels and comes across as if it's only them that could actually be in a healthy relationship at some point. Ste is obviously not as completely fucked up as Brendan is, but as we see here, he has a lot of issues too. I always felt that if they made a go at it, a real one, and both started to actually talk about everything and went to some kind of anger management therapy - they could totally be happy. I'm a little said their storyline ended the way it did for multiple reasons, one of them being that I think they were finally at a point where they could actually have a happy end.
can I just hug the both of them T^T " you're worth a lot more than you think you know" oh my lord. gosh I think they both need to know they are worth a lot more. It's sad the images painted of ppl that has done wrong n want to change seem to just be forever condemned for past actions and dealing with their demons. I think that is a good message to be sendin regardless if you end up with the person or not, change happens to everyone it just depends how much you want it and willin to accept it.

Again, that is all of them. You don't stop grieving because you've had several wakes, especially when you also have a guilt that something you did could have cost 2 people their lives and one did die. You move on but would be better to have a little quiet time but big actions/decisions stacked on top of each other.
I remember Ste being that way and I hated him for it. I remember Pauline and her abuse. When Ste started to change and embrace his true self, I thought the violence was gone forever but the violence isn't gone. It was only well hidden. Ste has to question how he reacts to stressful situations and fix it so his mother, Alley, and anyone else who makes him see red do not get the best of him. He has to see how his bad reactions give them power over him.
Seeing Brendan calm Ste down and how he pretty much whispers, "it's ok" and "talk to me" is incredible. It shows that he does cares. Honestly, with a past like his, I understand where that abusive side comes from. My foster sister was severely abused as a child and she's lashed out at us in the past. In those few moments, he really shows that he CAN change. If Ste can, Brendan can. They've had such similar pasts that I can't see them NOT being in each others lives, even just as friends.
Ste and Brendan are a lot closer now emotionally while not in a relationship. While Ste and Doug seems to be pulling apart while they're together. It really says a lot.

I complain constantly about what I have and I could be as broken as Ste or Brendan. But now I want them both to be happy. I finally understand why Amy forgave Ste. totally agree. Ste being so distress by his reaction, he doesn't want to be that person he used to be. I think seein Ste's reaction as well was necessary. How is Doug going to make Ste feel guilty? He mocked Ste for one of his biggest insecurities, his dyslexia. That crossed the line much further than Ste pushing him.
but that IS a part of him. his upbringing has shaped him that way, and he HAS learnt to deal with it - but that doesn't mean it's gone completely. i do agree with you in that he still has some road to travell yet, but i'm not sure if he'll ever be rid of that anger completely. it's part of who he is, and when it comes out depends on the situation he's in (in this case his mother = brought all that back). probably the best he can do is control it. i still like when he past is remembered though..
actually it's normally doug who brings up brendan. and rather than him being the one to sit and talk things through with ste and consider WHY ste reacted to his mother that way, what drove him to it, his feelings behind it, dealing with the aftermath, trying to HELP ste with his issues..his immediate reaction (which he carries through to the next episode) is to be pissy about brendan. it's doug who really seems to have the obsession. in saying that, i do see why. i still think he should dump ste
i'm not certain but i think brendan knew beforehand. he knows a lot about ste's past. he knew ste was beat growing up, and he confessed the same about himself to ste aswell (though he didn't include the sexual element of his own abuse), he knew about ste's abusive past with amy, and about his stint in juvi and the reasons why and ste's experiences "inside"....really i think brendan already knows most of ste's major core character traits. but hadn't yet seen it 1sthand (ignoring the baseball bat)
Ste still hates himself for all the bad things he's done in his life. From the drugs, beating Amy, stealing, all around criminal behavior. And even though he's known what real love is like. A big part of him deep down still thinks he's not worthy to be loved or think he deserves love of any kind. He's always saying he doesn't deserve a man like Doug because he honestly thinks that he doesn't. Which is sad and I want to give him a giant hug.
... He also swung at Brendan at least once (after Noah left) but Brendan was too fast for him. He did push Brendan several times but then, Brendan didn't fall and at least once warned him to calm down.
Also. "You're worth a lot more than you think, ya know." Oh...Ste. You need to say that more often. Repeat it, all day every day, so that it will sink into Brendan's head and his heart and make him able to face his demons and actually deal with them. Because...yeah. He IS worth it.
I think Doug should have reassured Ste about thinking he was back to square one. instead of talking to him fully he kept how he felt like always till it boils.
everyone deserves respect. never forget that this is just a damn tv show. regardless of what pairing you ship, or who's your favourite character, none of this is real and we are all just audience members, watching a tv soap. not sharing the same opinion as someone is absolutely no excuse to berate or belittle them, or dismiss them as being less than you. i don't like doug, but i would never say some of the things about his/stug fans as what i've read you say. just remember that it's fiction.
I get it. i just don't understand what you mean by "Brendan doing everything and Doug not." Doug has done a lot for Ste. Doug wanted to help Ste financially. Help him support his kids so he brought up the idea of building a business together. He knew how much it meant to him so he asked Brendan for the money Evan though Ste asked him not to. And Doug let him go when he knew Brendan was always going to be in his head if he didn't do something about it.

Okay I'm officially off doug, I feel like he always plays the victim and whenever anything gets tough he runs away. Don't get me wrong Ste id definitely in the wrong but doug was totally wrong for ringing the mum. Ste is CLEARLY going through a rough time why is he throwing the mum into the mix?
Doug pointed out ste weakness in a moment of anger and he shouldn't have. Then ste pushed Doug away from him in a moment of anger that should not have happened. They both did something wrong and ste seeing that he did that again to someone he loves broke him. Doug should have seen that ste was going to compare to Brendan like that. I think Brendan being there to help ste in a way also helped him. All three characters have problems and it's going to take time to work them out.

I think the whole reason doug and ste are having problems is the obvious lack of communication, It's getting annoying that they never just sit down and talk. I think they would be great together if the just communicated more, it would have avoided so much grief but of course this is only a soap so unnecessary drama has to happen. I am excited about what will happen next though, I am not a Brenden fan but I do see him as a big character in providing the drama. I just hope they don't ruin Doug!

I think that Ste and Brendan are showing that they need each other. If they bring John Paul in to get with Brendan it would look false.... Ste is proving in these scenes that Brendan is the one for him, as he is the only one who can calm him down and support him. Just as Brendan is proving that when he is with Ste he is a completely different person. He has become caring unlike the way he was to all of his past lovers. It is clear they are meant to be. Doug "genuinely cares" about Ste, what has he done to show otherwise? He's always done what he thinks is best for Ste. He doesn't always make the best decisions, but there's a lot of pressure on him to compete with Brendan. Maybe he does have a shady past, but so does everyone else in this triangle. I don't see how that makes Doug an idiot. People can do dumb things when they are in love, but at least his heart is in the right place. Better yet, he doesn't hurt (or murder) intentionally.

Considering Ste's history of physical abuse I don't think Doug over reacted. Clearly Ste hasn't learned how to be in a relationship without violence.

i was kind of hoping for that. emmett is such an amazing actor. it seemed that brendan was indeed considering saying just that.

but that IS a part of him. his upbringing has shaped him that way, and he HAS learnt to deal with it - but that doesn't mean it's gone completely. i do agree with you in that he still has some road to travell yet, but i'm not sure if he'll ever be rid of that anger completely. it's part of who he is, and when it comes out depends on the situation he's in (in this case his mother = brought all that back). probably the best he can do is control it. i still like when he past is remembered though..
So much emotions to deal with ,wish they both could make more conversation, there are things much more to talk ....!
Loved it! Just wished it was more heart to heart talk with Ste and Brendan,it was too short. But loved Kieron and Emmett great performance!!!

Ste and doug are ment to be together in my eyes but you can tell Brendon still loves Ste. It's kinda cute.

actually it's normally doug who brings up brendan. and rather than him being the one to sit and talk things through with ste and consider WHY ste reacted to his mother that way, what drove him to it, his feelings behind it, dealing with the aftermath, trying to HELP ste with his issues..his immediate reaction (which he carries through to the next episode) is to be pissy about brendan. it's doug who really seems to have the obsession. in saying that, i do see why. i still think he should dump ste
i'm not certain but i think brendan knew beforehand. he knows a lot about ste's past. he knew ste was beat growing up, and he confessed the same about himself to ste aswell (though he didn't include the sexual element of his own abuse), he knew about ste's abusive past with amy, and about his stint in juvi and the reasons why and ste's experiences "inside"....really i think brendan already knows most of ste's major core character traits. but hadn't yet seen it 1sthand (ignoring the baseball bat)
Ste still hates himself for all the bad things he's done in his life. From the drugs, beating Amy, stealing, all around criminal behavior. And even though he's known what real love is like. A big part of him deep down still thinks he's not worthy to be loved or think he deserves love of any kind. He's always saying he doesn't deserve a man like Doug because he honestly thinks that he doesn't. Which is sad and I want to give him a giant hug.
... He also swung at Brendan at least once (after Noah left) but Brendan was too fast for him. He did push Brendan several times but then, Brendan didn't fall and at least once warned him to calm down.
Also. "You're worth a lot more than you think, ya know." Oh...Ste. You need to say that more often. Repeat it, all day every day, so that it will sink into Brendan's head and his heart and make him able to face his demons and actually deal with them. Because...yeah. He IS worth it.
I think Doug should have reassured Ste about thinking he was back to square one. instead of talking to him fully he kept how he felt like always till it boils.
everyone deserves respect. never forget that this is just a damn tv show. regardless of what pairing you ship, or who's your favourite character, none of this is real and we are all just audience members, watching a tv soap. not sharing the same opinion as someone is absolutely no excuse to berate or belittle them, or dismiss them as being less than you. i don't like doug, but i would never say some of the things about his/stug fans as what i've read you say. just remember that it's fiction.
I get it. i just don't understand what you mean by "Brendan doing everything and Doug not." Doug has done a lot for Ste. Doug wanted to help Ste financially. Help him support his kids so he brought up the idea of building a business together. He knew how much it meant to him so he asked Brendan for the money Evan though Ste asked him not to. And Doug let him go when he knew Brendan was always going to be in his head if he didn't do something about it.
Thank you so much for uploding. Sorry for my english. Im from Germany. Ste and Brendan are strong charakters. And they belong together. Now both are on the same Level. Doug woud never come up on this. And know, that Brendan is changing his Life (Ste see this), he diserves a Love like this. Sorry for all Doug-Fans. He´s not bad, but Love is not "life happy for ever". Love is work, Love is: Strong feelings (good and bad). I hope you understand me.

People on their high horse about violence sometimes just don't realise the devastating effects of chipping away at someon'es feeling of self worth - particularly unforgiveable if they know the reasons for that. well when we saw this scene between ste and brendan, then we can just understand doug's insecure !!!!! cause even they are not together there still connection between them !!! they just have to talk to see that !!!! and doug see it too as well... STENDAN FOREVER !!!! lol

he has learn, why do you think he is so distress by what he did. He does not want to be that person again but from Ste's perspective he never gonna change like his mom said but tha's not true. Doug was right to make it clear to Ste what he did was wrong but all Doug was about was me, not us but himself.
I understand you completley. What i meant was, that Ste would never have so munch strong feelings to Doug, what he has for Brendan. And its very difficult to top this. For Ste it will be always Brendan.
Brendan does everything for Ste. Doug not. I know he is helpless about the Relationship between Ste and Brendan. But jealousy doesnt help.
thank you, I am glad that you can see that I don't just take sides. I always try to see from both provs and I even agree sometimes. I admit however, I just made a comment to someone awhile ago b/c they said something which really annoyed me. They did the same to another popular poster here and they did not say anything bad but just pointing up Doug faults as well and they got spam. I know I am not being mean so I don't know why they think this is necessary. thanx tho :)
Okay I'm officially off doug, I feel like he always plays the victim and whenever anything gets tough he runs away. Don't get me wrong Ste id definitely in the wrong but doug was totally wrong for ringing the mum. Ste is CLEARLY going through a rough time why is he throwing the mum into the mix?
Doug pointed out ste weakness in a moment of anger and he shouldn't have. Then ste pushed Doug away from him in a moment of anger that should not have happened. They both did something wrong and ste seeing that he did that again to someone he loves broke him. Doug should have seen that ste was going to compare to Brendan like that. I think Brendan being there to help ste in a way also helped him. All three characters have problems and it's going to take time to work them out.
@greymushroom1 I know right? That line was powerful. So many lines were in this. Brendan finally saw and understands now that Ste's reaction to what he did to Doug should have been his reaction to what he did to Ste. And Ste can see that Brendan has changed just by how he was tonight. The old Brendan would have told him he deserved it. Powerful acting by all.
When did Ste tell Brendan about his mom and abusive upbringing? Was it on-screen? (Can someone direct me to the link, if so, please?)
Off screen. Which makes me sad because I think that scene could have fit really well. But I'm glad that Ste did, even though they didn't show that.

Sorry its difficult to explain it in english. Im from Germany. What i ment is that Brendan think first "Ste" and than on himself. And Doug thinks on Ste and how he can get him in the right way he wants the Realationsship. He dont trust Ste really. I know he wants to do the right things. And i know he loves Steven and he have done a lot for him. But this will never come close to the Things Brendan does. What can i say im a Stendan Fan. I wish you a merry Christmas and Happy new Year

I couldn't agree with you more. Obviously Ste cares about Brendan but who is to say that he isn't in love with Doug.

I think the whole reason doug and ste are having problems is the obvious lack of communication, It's getting annoying that they never just sit down and talk. I think they would be great together if the just communicated more, it would have avoided so much grief but of course this is only a soap so unnecessary drama has to happen. I am excited about what will happen next though, I am not a Brenden fan but I do see him as a big character in providing the drama. I just hope they don't ruin Doug!

it only takes a push and something can go wrong but I totally understand and agree on Doug's reaction. I think Doug should have stayed and actually talk to him than to just leave when ste made the Brendan comment. he talks about Ste running away when he does the same. Ste just did not want to blow up like he did sadly.

I highly disagree... I think that's the exact reason why Doug is insecure, because not only does he know Ste loves Brendan, but the fact that he could and most likely will Fall in love with him again is so easy. :)

I think that Ste and Brendan are showing that they need each other. If they bring John Paul in to get with Brendan it would look false.... Ste is proving in these scenes that Brendan is the one for him, as he is the only one who can calm him down and support him. Just as Brendan is proving that when he is with Ste he is a completely different person. He has become caring unlike the way he was to all of his past lovers. It is clear they are meant to be. I used to supportstug but changed to stedan
Doug "genuinely cares" about Ste, what has he done to show otherwise? He's always done what he thinks is best for Ste. He doesn't always make the best decisions, but there's a lot of pressure on him to compete with Brendan. Maybe he does have a shady past, but so does everyone else in this triangle. I don't see how that makes Doug an idiot. People can do dumb things when they are in love, but at least his heart is in the right place. Better yet, he doesn't hurt (or murder) intentionally.
