Thanks so much for this review. I will be going to El Dorado Seaside Palms this weekend, on a last-minute getaway for the New Year. Didn't want to break the bank because again, it was last-minute but I still think this resort will be exactly what I need. I was also confused about the Seaside Suites and the Palms, so it was great that you were able to break it down. Good to know that even though I will be staying on the Palms side, I will be able to use the pool and facilities on the Infinity side if I want! Thanks again.
Glad you found the video helpful. We think El Dorado is worth it for the price we had a good time there, and in fact one of the best days at the pool there ( on the seaside suites/ American side). Enjoy your stay there!
I started to watch your video because I wanted to find out about this hotel but you kept on talking about secrets which was no use to me if I'm going to stay at this hotel
From my departure city they difference in price between the 2 resorts you are comparing is $2370 Canadian more per person. So……you are NOT comparing apples to apples. Jeeps are fun to drive but a Porsche is nicer. Not the same category. Did you make the comparison in pricing ???
Agreed. We were not saying that these 2 resorts were in the same category. Only giving our perspective having done both back to back. We paid a fair amount more for Secrets, and believe it was worth it however El Dorada is still a good resort for the price. In our Secrets review, we mention the price difference.
Was about to say same thing. Just checked same 10 days stretch next year for our anniversary and secrets is $7700 cdn each vs $3100 cdn each. That with flights and hotel mind you. Still that’s a huge amount of $ difference for more service. Can’t believe how much things cost these days:(
VIM is great except that you cannot see the ocean from anywhere on the property unless you are actually on the beach or you spend a lot more for an emerald oceanfront suite. (and even those the view is limited). That's a big deal to me because i like ocean view rooms, restaurants and even seeing the ocean from the pool but if its not for you then VIM is an excellent choice because its great in every other way. Its not cheap but its not quite as much as Secrets properties.
For El Dorado, the seaside suites side is better for more social activity although it was pretty dead when we were there. Secrets had a much better ambience overall, and some groups of friends going. Great options for pools and nicer beach. Overall I would say both resorts had more couples than groups of friends. You can definitely have fun at both. Plus if you are in a group, I am sure you can make where ever you go fun :)
Great vid! Secrets Cancun is great too. The service, the food, high quality restaurants, the amount of cool activities running like wine tasting was a really nice touch. Great for networking or even living in your own bubble. The standards really surprised me. The preferred floor was great too, butler & turndown service. Appears clinical from photos but is definitely a ‘secret’ type of experience once you’re there
Hi. I recently booked the Tui Blue El Dorado Seaside Suites resorts for 2 weeks. (First trip to Mexico). Just been looking at some videos and reading reviews and some people have given very negative reviews regarding the seaside suites which is disappointing as I’ve paid for a premium swim up room but honestly I don’t know if I’ll be staying the palms side or the suites side 😂 I’ve read things about the pre-booking of the restaurants which seems silly as I don’t want my whole 2 weeks planned out. Honestly is it worth staying here?
This was part of a 10 day trip where we went to secrets for 5 nights and then back to EDSS for 5 nights, but not on the Palms side for a change. We know Secrets is not comparable in price or standard but sometimes, it does not mean you think the difference in $$$ is worth it. In this case we do feel the difference is worth it, however, for the price EDSS is still a good pick.
El Dorado Seaside Suites resort is not what is use to be. Maintenance is not being kept up, the food quality has also gone bad. This resort is the biggest disappointment ever. The founder of the Resort chain turned control over to his daughter and her husband has been running the resorts. Furthermore, the son-in law has been cutting standard amenities, activities, shows and basically going cheap and yet wanting to charge a premium price for what use to be consider a 5 star resort that's now at best 3 stars. The place is very depressing and I would never recommend anyone to stay at this resort. And if you would ask me if I would return to this place, my answer straight up is a diffidently NO. Better to use you money at another resort. Seaside Suites is for the homeless!
Thank you for sharing a very passionate review of EDSS. And some interesting insights regarding the family ownership. We agree is it not as good as it used to be and not sure if it is good value compared to other others in a similar price range.
@@superbumcrumbs3377did u end up having a good time??? I just came back from riu republica in Punta Cana and the reviews were so mixed it had me worried, but i had a blast
Thank you, very helpful for upcoming vacation planning.
Glad it was helpful!

Very Charming Blog, Thank you
Our Pleasure. Thank you!
omg~well shots! ;)
Did Secrets pay you by the number of times you said their name? :) I have to end the video before it's tiring.

If you guys like Secrets Akimal, you guys should check out The Valetin Imperial Riveria Maya.
Thanks for the tip

Great video!! would you say El Dorado or Secrets are good for girls trips? Celebrating my bday this year and planning!

Thanks for sharing. We may consider trying the other Secrets next time.
I agree. You get what you pay for. When you have stayed at Palace Resorts everywhere else is poor including Secrets.
Also Secrets will break your piggy bank. You get what you pay for...
04:12. Is anyone else reminded of Grand Theft Auto?

Hiya thanks for vlog, have you considered staying at the Xacerat hotel looks awesome ?
We have! They look amazing and would be great for us as we love the Xcaret parks. Maybe next year :)
Hello where can I find the palms video?
I came to get a review on this resort in which I’ll be there in April… but I hear you comparing it to secrets. Ugh

was the beach bbq open for breakfast still or just lunch? 😊
We think so but we never had breakfast there, only lunch. We enjoyed the market place buffet.
Has anyone been to Eldorado Maroma? It seems a lot nicer than Seaside? How does it to Secrets Akumal/Maroma because it is similar in price?
we havent. It is on our list to try next time.
11 minutes into the review and you keep saying we'll get into that.... WHEN?

Ffs I’m booked and going in 2 weeks….. this has depressed me already
