Loved them all! So many more could have made the list, including Vaughan Williams’ gorgeous Six Studies in English Folk Song, dedicated to the British female cellist May Mukle. We don’t have a recording of Mukle playing the studies, but we do have a priceless 1915 recording of her playing Alice Verne Bredt’s Lullaby (a hidden gem): m.th-cam.com/video/a8z0B1IXTgc/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUZTHVsbGFieSBhbGljZSB2ZXJuZSBicmVkdA%3D%3D
I have a probably silly question !!! All the bowings you have used in this variety of pieces are natural for your experience or they are in your mind, so many times have you played them ???
Nothing silly, good question! Yes indeed, they became natural for me. I don’t think anymore about any bowing. And sometimes when I play, I have the freedom to change at the moment of playing because I am so used to it. Hope that helped! 😃
Mendelssohn for it historic value, Le Cygne for its sublime difficulty, Bach II because it makes me want to cry, Vocalise for its harmonic beauty….. Might I suggest Ravel,s Kaddish?
Would love to hear your take on beautiful melodies from cello sonatas--have been working on Dohnanyi's sonata, first movement has some very beautiful melodies!
Thank you for showing us these 8 "petitesses" with a great sound and the Bach. Now I can study some of your fingerrings and bowings. I would like some Dvorak Soli "going home "aus der Neuen Welt" f.e. Best wishes
Of course! It was also composed for that instrument (actually fortepiano). But it sounds beautiful on the cello as well! Check out Daniil Shafran playing that timeless music. There is a recording somewhere here on TH-cam.
Which piece did you enjoy the most?
All of them! You sound so great…
Vocalise, Rachmaninoff. Bach prelude cello suite 2
Vocalise is so touching. Meanwhile Bach Prelude 2 is so profound.
You make them all sound so beautiful and look
so ‘easy’ to play!!

My teacher said the same thing as you.

ahh...finally...
Sorry Ilia ...this really isn't your best performance and presentation...but I still admire you
terrible cello music....sorry...

Yes, this is my second cello, made in 2021. I left my main instrument (1763) in Europe. Hope to exchange soon.
Wonderful Teacher, master, principal cellist etc, etc.😊

Just beautiful.
Thank you Vicky! Hope you are doing well!
Personally, I wish you played Sicillienne by Maria Paradis, its a stunning piece, but I enjoyed the Rachmaninov the most.
Thanks for naming the Sicillienne! Believe it or not, but I don’t know the piece. Will listen to it!
Masters by a Master !!!🌷👏🏿🎻🎶🙏🏿😘🌷
