Hey Rodger! Just want to say officially that you have created something incredibly fun and engaging here. What a throwback to classic 80’s games but with some modern mechanics. Thank you so much for creating this. I will be brutally honest. I was hesitant backing anything else due to the amount of time it took to release this, but after opening the box and seeing the components, SO MUCH GOOD STUFF (almost 200 loot cards with not ONE being the same as an example), and then playing the game (LOTS of rules to keep tack of though with some being a little ambiguous), you’ve got me hooked and the expansions will be an insta back for me (I’m sure you’ve learned from your very first Kickstarter and will hopefully cut the development time by a couple of years).

As a side note, for Anyone reading this right now, I highly encourage you to go out right now and buy Baldur's Gate I & II either on XBOX! or PS4. You get both games and all expansions on one disc. Just like in Dungeon Crusade, you control 6 heroes in Baldur's Gate. But back to Dungeon Crusade, I poured a ton of creativity, imagination, thematic storytelling, passion, and ingenuity into designing Dungeon Crusade for people to give them a genuinely new experience to have and enjoy. This was about doing something special for fellow gamers and people With the patrol route system, I have always wanted to develop/create a "living dungeon" experience with monsters and creatures moving throughout the dungeon with unpredictable movement patterns. The patrol route system works incredibly effectively for this...LOL, almost too good! ;) Lastly, stay tuned for the new videos we are working on for the Dungeon Crusade TH-cam channel, where I will be teaching people how to set up and play both the Avalon Adventure board game and Dungeon Crusade. There have been many tweaks and adjustments to Dungeon CRusade to give players the best possible experience. I'm 100% committed to the growing fan base of the game and with Groovus Games Unlimited, so let me highlight a few game-changers to Dungeon Crusade for you. + There is a new quick reference guide. This is just straight to the point on how to set up and play Dungeon Crusade. We had many playtesters in on this and it came out excellent. So this is not wordy at all, this gets you setup and playing in no time at all. So what you do is start playing with the quick reference guide, then use the Crusaders' Handbook to lookup more detailed information about a certain game mechanic. + There is a new official game variant called 'Evolved Minions'. This right here has GREATLY reduced gametime and brought many benefits to the game. Battles with minions are now 1 vs. 1 and combat takes only seconds to resolve. It also adds a new layer of strategy tactics and planning to the game. What this does is helps out your level 1 and level 2 heroes. + We've partnered with Panda Card Sleeves and they are creating sleeves for all the cards in the game. I'm a very passionate creator, and fans of the game are like extended family to me. People had a few issues with the game, and I/we wanted to get everything cleared up for them and give them the best experience possible with the game. Here is what you can expect in Dungeon Crusade now. + A revised rule book that is much slimmer and straight to the point in explaining the rules. A night and day difference from the original rulebook. Some TH-camrs and players have been giving it excellent reviews. Here is a link to download the PDF version, which is searchable: bit.ly/DC_revised_rulebook. + The brand new Solo Crusader mode where you select only one hero, you have your fetchound Albus, and you can now hire a mercenary from the Mercenary Camp in the village to help you out in the dungeon. + A player can now select between the classic combat system or the newly revised combat system that offers quicker and faster gameplay. + There is now a Scalable Difficulty Reference Card for those challenges and events in the encounter deck, as well as for the traps in the dungeon and the trap treasure chests. This helps out your level 1 and level 2 heroes. + The game time has been reduced a bit, so it offers a quicker game. The way your heroes combat minions in the game was revised and provides a much more tactical and quick combat experience. A player will never know what warfare type a minion will use. Combat with minions now takes only about 10-15 seconds. + Easier and quicker setup time. + The new minion movement speed track + And a few other revisions and balances we made to the game. If you do a playthrough of DC you'll get a gold star if you get all the rules right! I haven't got it to the table yet but I might wait until get a bigger table to fit everything!
Looking forward to your Dungeon Crusade video as well. I've been staring at my setup for a few days preparing to record LOL. Quest tokens are just discarded. There are events in Avalon Board Game where people request them if you have them, but it's pretty rare.

Building on what you said here, there is a fun and easy mining & crafting system in Dungeon Crusade. After a hero mines and discovers some of the minerals and precious stones necessary for crafting, the blacksmith in the village can craft power gems that can be plugged into those sockets like that Staff of Moon Fury that Colin's heroes discovered. There are MANY different recipes for the types of power gems the blacksmith can craft for the heroes' gear. Of course the piece of gear must have a socket on it to equip the gem. I am in the process of trying to get my head around the rules for it myself, so I know this will be a big undertaking - but I know you guys can do a great job with it. I have mentioned this in the past, and, in a few messages to people, I took the time needed to write/craft/structure a very comprehensive rulebook for Dungeon Crusade. In the creation of it, I also created it in such a way that it was a good read and quite thematic. I had mentioned I didn't just write the Dungeon Crusade rulebook, but I had to write/structure 6 different rulebooks. For... - Dungeon Crusade (the game itself) - The Avalon Adventure board game - The House of Chance games which are: - Tower Attack! - Skull Jack - The Adventures of Bravely the Knight - Heroes vs. Monsters So this is genuinely one rulebook to rule them all. IMPORTANT!: But when you start out reading it, all that you need to know is the main rules for Dungeon Crusade. That's it. Then, as you get more acclimated to the game, you can learn more about the game in the other sections of the rulebook and incorporate it into your game sessions. The Crusaders' Handbook was never meant to be read in one sitting. Some people are under that misconception. Take it slowly-one section at a time.
The rules are not a mess. They are very long and sometimes repetitive with only a few ambiguous rules that I can tell but I have definitely seen much worse. These are not bad for a first time creator.
37:43 you don’t start the game with 6 rejuvenation potions. You have to “find” them first like you did here. Makes it a bit more challenging right? Would be waaayyy too easy if you started with rejuvenation potions. Great rolling by the way. My first three plays I rolled terribly and actually lost due to 4 deaths. Fun simple little pre-game though. PLEASE do a play through of the full Dungeon Crusade game (LOTS more rules though).

It's really just to give you some back story into the world of Avalon and at the same time preparing your heroes for Dungeon Crusade. The game is quick enough and I see myself playing ti before an epic game of Dungeon Crusade each time.

It just doesn't make sense to me to "waste" playtime with a mechanically uninteresting phase, but I'm not an average board gamer and I don't like story driven adventure games very much. I wanted to take the time to say a huge thank you for this most outstanding playthrough of the Avalon Adventure board game. Seriously, my friend, you did a fantastic job on this. I loved the sound effects!
I did want to point out that the heroes do not receive those rejuvenation potions at the start of the game. Those are meant to be found on their adventure and journey through Avalon.
Also, if you are planning to do a playthrough of Dungeon Crusade, I would of course help you with any questions you may have with the game. I would recommend running the first scenario, "Into the Depths", as that is in a way the tutorial scenario to get acclimated to the game's fundamentals and unique game mechanics.

Also, I wanted to share this information with you. I'm a very passionate creator, and fans of the game are like extended family to me.
People had a few issues with the game, and I/we wanted to get everything cleared up for them and give them the best experience possible with the game.
Here is what you can expect in Dungeon Crusade now.
+ A revised rule book that is much slimmer and straight to the point in explaining the rules. A night and day difference from the original rulebook. Some TH-camrs and players have been giving it excellent reviews.

+ The brand new Solo Crusader mode where you select only one hero, you have your fetchound Albus, and you can now hire a mercenary from the Mercenary Camp in the village to help you out in the dungeon.
+ A player can now select between the classic combat system or the newly revised combat system that offers quicker and faster gameplay.
+ There is now a Scalable Difficulty Reference Card for those challenges and events in the encounter deck, as well as for the traps in the dungeon and the trap treasure chests. This helps out your level 1 and level 2 heroes.
+ The game time has been reduced a bit, so it offers a quicker game. The way your heroes combat minions in the game was revised and provides a much more tactical and quick combat experience.
A player will never know what warfare type a minion will use. Combat with minions now takes only about 10-15 seconds.
+ Easier and quicker setup time.
+ The new minion movement speed track
+ And a few other revisions and balances we made to the game.
The game has truly been perfected and honed.

If you do a playthrough of DC you'll get a gold star if you get all the rules right! I haven't got it to the table yet but I might wait until get a bigger table to fit everything!

Looking forward to your Dungeon Crusade video as well. I've been staring at my setup for a few days preparing to record LOL. Quest tokens are just discarded. There are events in Avalon Board Game where people request them if you have them, but it's pretty rare.

Building on what you said here, there is a fun and easy mining & crafting system in Dungeon Crusade. After a hero mines and discovers some of the minerals and precious stones necessary for crafting, the blacksmith in the village can craft power gems that can be plugged into those sockets like that Staff of Moon Fury that Colin's heroes discovered. There are MANY different recipes for the types of power gems the blacksmith can craft for the heroes' gear. Of course the piece of gear must have a socket on it to equip the gem.

Dungeon Crusade is a fairly creative and innovative game, so it called for an equally creative and innovative rulebook.
I have mentioned this in the past, and, in a few messages to people, I took the time needed to write/craft/structure a very comprehensive rulebook for Dungeon Crusade. In the creation of it, I also created it in such a way that it was a good read and quite thematic.
I had mentioned I didn't just write the Dungeon Crusade rulebook, but I had to write/structure 6 different rulebooks. For...
- Dungeon Crusade (the game itself)
- The Avalon Adventure board game
- The House of Chance games which are:
- Tower Attack!
- Skull Jack
- The Adventures of Bravely the Knight
- Heroes vs. Monsters
So this is genuinely one rulebook to rule them all.
IMPORTANT!: But when you start out reading it, all that you need to know is the main rules for Dungeon Crusade. That's it.
Then, as you get more acclimated to the game, you can learn more about the game in the other sections of the rulebook and incorporate it into your game sessions.
The Crusaders' Handbook was never meant to be read in one sitting. Some people are under that misconception. Take it slowly-one section at a time.

The rules are not a mess. They are very long and sometimes repetitive with only a few ambiguous rules that I can tell but I have definitely seen much worse. These are not bad for a first time creator.

39:02 I’m not sure either. I scoured the rule book for this and couldn’t find the benefit of having quest tokens in the Avalon game.

37:43 you don’t start the game with 6 rejuvenation potions. You have to “find” them first like you did here. Makes it a bit more challenging right? Would be waaayyy too easy if you started with rejuvenation potions. Great rolling by the way. My first three plays I rolled terribly and actually lost due to 4 deaths. Fun simple little pre-game though. PLEASE do a play through of the full Dungeon Crusade game (LOTS more rules though).

The game was an expansion within Dungeon Crusade!
You had to buy the middle tier or master tier of dungeon crusade to get Avalon hill

Dungeon crusade kickstarted in 2016. Rodger took four years to develop this. “Groovusgames” is the website you need.

It's really just to give you some back story into the world of Avalon and at the same time preparing your heroes for Dungeon Crusade. The game is quick enough and I see myself playing ti before an epic game of Dungeon Crusade each time.

It just doesn't make sense to me to "waste" playtime with a mechanically uninteresting phase, but I'm not an average board gamer and I don't like story driven adventure games very much. So yes, to those who would like to experience some of the back story it might fine.
I agree this part of the game was awfully tedious. Though Colin, you did well to make it sound more exciting than it was.
