    Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had one day to alter a costume for my dance recital, and I followed this tutorial and it turned out PERFECTLY! It was my fist time making significant alterations to a dress before and I couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out.

      Hi Anastasia, I have a waistless shift dress whose neck does not lay flat. The waist and dress fit well, but the neckline droops. How might I remedy that? I'd appreciate your feedback.

    Thank you for showing all the steps (not just how to pin) like sketching the lines and backstitching! Other videos always left me guessing on the best way to do the process. I know some sewing machine basics but didn't know how to finish the garment properly.

    • @SewAnastasia

      You are looking to add a dart to an existing dress? Yes, you can just add a dart anywhere you want to help shape the dress to your liking. Just pin up the excess you need taken in and sew it up. 🎀

    If i wanted to cut the extra fabric off, what if there are little fabrics left that are too close to the new seam line?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well you don’t want to cut too close to the seam. You need at least 1/4 inch seam so your garment doesn’t rip apart. You also might want to zig zag your seams together or over cast them together to make them stronger. You can also serge your edges to clean them up.

    • @SewAnastasia

    I haven't tried this yet but had a question. What if the shoulders on the dress are wider than my own shoulders. It seems like the dress and sleeves would fit once I followed the tutorial but the shoulders would still be too wide. Am I not thinking this through correctly?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will have to take off the sleeve & cut the shoulder off & put back on the sleeve. I have another tutorial on tailoring a dress where I move the sleeve & shoulder. Check it out.

    It’s worth the extra few minutes to undo the original seam before sewing, so that the other side doesn’t catch or pucker.

    Hi Anastasia, this is so awesome thank you so much, but how do you hem a dress with a zipper on one side 🤔 my hips are bigger than my chest so I had to go up a size with no girls to fill it in 🥺 thanks for your help ❤️

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! You do it the same way. The zipper at the side should not effect the hem of the dress unless you are making it super short and then you might need to shorten your zipper. If you need to take in the dress at the side and the zipper is there. You are going to have to remove you zipper, cut off the extra fabric and then put your zipper back on. I hope that answers your question. Happy Sewing!

    The lining goes all the way down inside the dress and it can be separated. How do I do this part?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not understand. Yes you also need to take in the lining the same way as the fashion fabric. You want your lining to be 2 inches shorter than the outside fabric. I hope that helps.

      Dogs don’t get tale holes because they can’t tell tales. Also, only lizards can drop their tails, so dogs can’t have that type of tail hole either.
