That Home Alone promo...It's funny to think how it used to be common for huge movies to play for months and months back then. Now it seems like movies only play for a month, then go to streaming. Sure, there are exceptions (Avatar 2's still in theaters), but I think for a lot of movies, the much shorter theatrical window is here to stay.

16:11 - I was getting ready to get my first kitten in the summer of 91, so I always got excited when a cat food commercial came on around this time. My two older brothers were twins, and were going to college in the Fall. My parents thought I would be lonely, so they promised I could get a cat of my own after school got out. I had wanted one for a while at the time, and was very excited.
The cat we wound up getting was a gray shothair named Satia (pronounced "Say-sha") and was the most affectionate and loving cat you could hope to meet. Getting a cat that summer, as well as a Sega Genesis with the original Sonic the Hedgehog for my birthday that year, definitely made summer 91 the most memorable for me up to that time.
I unfortunately only had her for a short time, as she had to be put down at only 8 years old on Tuesday, November 2nd, 1999 when she developed a tumor. I still remember her to this day, as does my Mom, who especially bonded with her, and we still talk about her. As much as I adore my current cat, Julia, there will never be another Satia.

Say what you will about Perfect Strangers itself, but Mark Linn-Baker and Bronson Pinchot sure did have great chemistry together, and made it worth watching for me back then. Not surprising to learn they became good friends while doing the show, and remain so to this day. Supposedly, Linn-Baker was not the original choice to play Larry. They had done a test episode with Pinchot teamed up with comedian Louie Anderson, but the creative team didn't think they worked together well.
Outside of this show, Linn-Baker is mainly known for acting on stage, and has done a number of Broadway shows. I've seen him perform many times during my theater trips over the years, and he's always wonderful to watch.

Balki and Larry just perfectly started off my day. They always bring a smile to me before I go to work. Time to do The Dance of Joy.

When Konami released the original Ninja Turtles arcade game for the NES as TMNT 2: The Arcade Game in 1990, they actually tried to tie it in as a sequel to the first movie. In the game's instruction manual, the story says that Shredder has come back after being knocked off the roof into the garbage truck, and is looking for revenge.
I got that game for Christmas of 90, so in early 91, when I heard there was going to be a second movie and Shredder was going to be back, I actually thought the movie would be based on the arcade game, and that the two evil mutants that Shredder was going to make were going to be Tora and Shogun, the two new enemies that were created exclusively for the NES version.

I used to love this exact lineup, even Baby Talk. No accounting for taste at 8. This was peak TGIF for me and I am sure I watched on this night.

Some prime ABC here! TGIF was something I'd watch like crazy, even if the 4th half hour had many different shows over the years! Plus I remember how hard Dinosaurs was pushed at this time!
Of course it's also prime WABC too! Meineke, The Wiz & Doug Johnson!

The nostalgia hits a certain spot in my soul, I can almost recall the scent in the air of the times. I was living in Brooklyn then and most certainly watching this at my friend's house as a kid...rest in peace to all the greats we lost seen here: Bob Sagat, Alan Thicke, Barbara Walters, sigh* some of these products...the glasses frames! Thank you for uploading this and surely share this one with my Mom

Ziploc Gripper Zipper- Despite the mascot being nothing more than just someone's finger with a smiley face drawn on it, I find it to be very charming.
Little Caesar- If that mascot ever came knocking on my door yelling, "Thank you! Thank you!" in that creepy voice, I would not answer the door and go hide in my basement.

A collection I almost certainly watched first hand, as this was my local ABC affiliate and TGIF was a religious observance.

TGIF never could get 4 shows that worked. There always seemed to be a show that was bizarre like baby talk, you wish, teen angel and aliens in the family.

Hangin' With Mr Cooper was probably the best of the shows that were shuffled through the 9:30 timeslot. I actually remember watching that one quite a bit and it stayed in that timeslot semi regularly from 93-95. Though the early period with Full House, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers and then "terrible 9:30 show" was admittedly the classic TGIF lineup.

@@80sCommercialVaulteah The only other show I could think of that was in the dreaded 9:30 slot that was decent was brother's keeper from 1998-1999 season. But TGIF was on its way out by then.

The phisoderm ad from 1991 uncut. Now if we could find a longer version of the "She's Got Her PhD" ad with the white bottle.
