My dad actually would say, the Dodge flathead six would idle so smooth you could put a glass of water on it and it wouldn't ripple. Dad was a diehard Chevy guy, but he actually had a 1 ton similar to this that he used to plow with here in Upstate NY back in the mid 60s. Same type of rack dump, just chains on the rear duals, 4spd, He actually worked on some of these inline sixes as a mechanic in the Army over in Korea. The old 4wd Power Wagons used these same type sixes. So very cool you rescued this truck, so very similar to my dad's old truck.

Those old flatheads were just as good or even better then the slant at least the mice had no way of getting into the cylinders like the slant could and I have found if a flathead is stuck 98% of the time it was valves that were the issue and all you had to do was pop the head off and fix it and you can even reuse the head gasket. they are just a great die hard engine

sweet find man and it's got the old flathead in it that I have never seen in a early 60's Dodge Truck but maybe because it's a Fargo that it got the flathead? Something weird with that because I thought the slant was in everything after 1959 but you never know but it's a kick ass truck.
Yeah it could be a Canadian thing too because Canada ran the poly for a year after the states had dropped it maybe they were just using up leftover parts

I'm glad you didn't break the starter casing with that pancake hammer. It was high time to freshen that up anyways. No worries, it can be rebuilt. I had a 64 Dodge at one time and put it's 318 V8 over to propane. It ran better than on the gasoline, in my opinion. Cheers!@@TheRustFarm
Love how it cranks nice and slow. with it cranking that slow I would not be looking for spark or if it will run because there is no way it will like that. Try 24 volts that will wake it's lazy arse up

Built in Canada most of my dodges are built in Canada too outa 18 I only have one US built
