It's cool that Carrie Henn shows up at these events and seems to enjoy them. After hearing so many disaster stories about former kid actors, it's nice to see one who turned out well.
Newt has grown into a very genuine, level headed woman. Very down to earth. Carrie Henn's dream was always to be a teacher not a movie star, and she has achieved that , well done Carrie.
I'm was watching Aliens today and happened to do a search on the actors. Came across this, and I'm so glad I did. It's nice to see a child actor surviving Hollywood and have a good life. Carrie seems like such a fine person. Her students are lucky to have her. Thanks for posting this interview and thanks to Carrie for just being herself.
Hollywood is just a microcosm of life. Kids who had good, very involved parents, tend to deal better with the preasure of fame and fare better in the long run, vs. those who had unstable parents like the Corey Haims of the world and ended up paying for it.
And sure, there’s a lot of child exploitation and sex abuse in the entertainment industry - but that’s really a nationwide problem. It’s even worse in the American Religion industry, where every week we’re hearing of a new Christian conservative pastor who raped and abused kids in his church. Dusty Smith covers one or more of these pervs every week on his weekly youtube/podcast.
She seems like a sweet gal. So much love for someone who only had ONE role at all in her entire filmography. What a great thing to do, go to these conventions and show up and giving so much respect to the fans cuz she is fanworthy.
Aliens 2 is my favorite movie of all time. Carrie (Newt) rocked! Sigourney Weaver (Ripley) "She had no weapons and no training" Bill Paxton "Well put her in charge!!" I just watched Aliens 2 yesterday for the billionth time. It never gets old. Best movie ever made. And that is a big statement, Terminator 2, Original Star Wars trilogy. Aliens 2 takes the title.
Her performance in Aliens is one of the most interesting, unlikely, spectacularly awesome things in the history of cinema. If her character (Newt) hadn't worked, the entire film would've been dragged down by it. I hope they never told her that, as it'd be a TON of pressure, but somehow, Cameron and his crew got an AMAZING and endlessly re-watchable performance out of her. It takes an extra-talented director to get that performance out of a kid that age with no acting experience. Some directors have it, some don't. Way to go, Carrie. You CRUSHED it!
Thank you, Carrie. You were one of the most respectable child actresses I ever knew about thanks to your quite brave and special creation of Newt in Aliens.
I just want to say God bless Carrie Henn and thank you so much Carrie Henn for doing a wonderful job as Newt the sole survivor of LV-426 in Aliens (1986) directed by James Cameron and Carrie Henn will be forever rememberd as both the greatest and the coolest child actress in Aliens (1986) the greatest sci-fi action and horror movie ever created and directed by James Cameron as well:).
Carrie is a great person I love seeing her all grown up, and I loved her in the movie. It was a very special touch to watch her relationship with Sigourney in the movie. Ripley, being always so caring and concernerd for others, including her cat in the first movie, totally humane. Those are the moments I always love about these movies.
The story of her audition is pretty funny. All the "experienced" and "trained" little actresses would put on a huge smile after reading the scene. Carrie stayed in the mood of the scene because she hadn't been trained to always smile for the director.
In 1979 The alien creature was very original. When Aliens came out, I was 22 on my honeymoon. I was so pumped after the movie. To introduce the queen alien brought it to the next level. The Alien franchise will always be iconic. It will always be my favorite sci-fi franchise right along the side Avatar. I can't wait for the sequels of Avatar. I just finished watching Aliens. I think I'm going to watch Avatar for the 20th or 30th time. James, you are the man. Carrie, I have always adored you as Newt. This is the first time I have seen you all grown up. You are awesome. Good luck with your teaching career. I also work with school-age kids. It is a calling. I love what I do. I'm sure you do as well.
With a debut performance as amazing as Carrie delivered with Newt, it's hard to imagine anything better so it's lovely to see that she has made a successful career as a teacher. My wife is also a teacher so I know first hand how much commitment it takes, and how important that commitment is to the next generation. Aliens is still one of my all time favourite movies and a large part of that is because of Carrie and Newt. Thank you...both! :)
I saw Aliens at the cinema back in 1986 when i was almost 8. Funnily enough, i looked looked like Carrie and we have the same name. 😊 Well done for becoming a teacher!
At the end when Ripley flushed that alien queen out of the air lock and she fights her way out of and gets back to you, I'll never forget you calling her mommy!!! THAT just brought tears to My eyes !!! A very special moment !!! My heart just swelled in my chest after that !!!
She had a lot of great lines and scenes ...she was one of the ones that made that movie.... all of the actors did really... this was really an ensemble piece... you don't see that much anymore in movies...seems like they always focus on one or two people's character and everyone just floats around them....you really felt for the whole group... great writing and actors!
There *has* to be a photo of her sitting at a table surrounded by the Colonial Marines coloring, molding clay, and drawing! I've always wondered, in the scene where Ripley cleans her face with a washcloth. Did Ripley actually dip it in the hot chocolate? I hope not! 😋
Carrie Henn u are a legend. U are a adult now but just to look at your eyes in video, u know it's Newt. U had some good lines & that high pitch scream but loved it when u gave the thumbs up when Ripley asked u if u were ok ? & the salute at the table.
A great actress, she delivered a wonderful performance as Newt. The deleted scene where Newt asks Ripley where her daughter is, is bot terribly sad and beautiful at the same time.
The greatest SF movie of all times. It has a message, like an all outer manifestations of toughness are nothing in comperison to willpower and spirit integrity. Happy anding also putting Aliens apart of all sequels and prequels, it makes the story Accomplished
This woman now of course was such an awesome actress in the movie. I think the thing I liked best was her scream. To this very day, when she does that it gives me goosebumps. Fantastic!
Director Blomkamp's movie takes place after part 2 Aliens, so yeah, that wipes out part 3 and 4 entirely;) I was SUPER pissed that Hicks and Newt died in 3, now I'm happy;)
Would be cool, but she is long out of the biz, Aliens was her only film credit, plus she would really have to get into hollywood shape, a while ago. They are actually using a slightly younger more fit actress I hear, not sure on the official casting yet, but I'm looking forward to a new kick ass warrior older Rebecca...I mean Newt;)
It Is a classic of both filmmaking.. and of Humankind’s most likely future history … Go Newt .. you are in the History of FILM .. for good reason …Thank You
It's a great film. I think the magic of what makes it so loved can't be narrowed down to one or two things. We had a great cast, with strong personalities that were very ranged. Ripley was strong, without the need to be condescending, Burt played the traitor in a bit of a surprise twist. Some comedic twists to lighten the mood before they went into hell. I wish Apone lived longer; he was a great character. Though he needed to go to make things feel like they were coming apart and have Ripley step up to a leadership role. The setting, dark look and tone and amazing musical score and script all worked together. Wish Carrie could have made it to the 30 year reunion, glad she's doing what she loves now.
What a blast that must have been, getting to hang around and see everything that is going on with the movie !!! I'm so jealous !!! I rutted for you through out the whole movie !!! Yes your right, GIRL POWER !!!! ROCKS !!!
The second "mostly" MAKES the line! Because you get this small sense of security that you're safe (or safer) during the day...and the second "mostly" tells you that you can't really count on THAT, either, lol.
"Uh-oh. Now I've done it. I've made a clean spot. Guess I'll have to do the whole thing. Hard to believe there's a little girl under there, and a pretty one too."
Caroline Kutcher is my little sisters 4th grade teacher here in California, I probably shouldn't say what city or what school, but my little sister is friends with Caroline's daughter
Very cool I'm watching it right now and was wondering how she age through the years I wonder if that scream she has was a factor in her getting the role
I _mostly_ watch this at night . . . _mostly_

She really is not at least to her students in elementary
Yeah she is a teacher but i cant tell you where
Loved the 2 scenes where she made simple gestures but it had major impact: when she gave the "thumb-up" and when she saluted Bill Paxton.

I just watched Aliens this morning and wondered what happened to the little girl. Glad to see she has led a normal life. Great movie.

"Aliens" was one of the best films I have ever seen and I've seen it so many times that I knew most of the lines by heart. Still love it.
