CGI makes better visual effects dude, don't be such a sentimentalist, that being said aliens is a better movie than most modern film's because it's very interesting, it's definitely in top 5 favorite movies, most films are so unimaginative now, especially those annoying superhero movie's
"Aliens"inspired me to enlist during a time when women were supposed to sit back and let men do that. My military experience many years later helped me to help others during 911 in NYC and Superstorm Sandy that destroyed nearly all of New Jersey. Thank you Sigourney Weaver for teaching us girls as children that we matter and that when there is a will there is a way!
For all those 2nd wave feminists that complain that there arent enough strong female characters and try to solve it by ruining Ghostbusters, I say.... LOOK AT ALIEN and ALIENS!!! ELLEN RIPLEY - was a total badass in both of them! Didnt matter she was female! What an inspiration to me.
I'm not a woman, but yeah ripley is very inspiring. I hate it when everyone is like captain marvel is the first female hero, when there's wonder woman, ripley, etc.
And she did it by rising up against the odds, not by insulting those around her. There are days where it seems that if a movie/tv show wasn't made after 2010, journlists and activists pretend it doesn't exist.
I love the whole series, Sigourney made the franchise bottom line. Everyone else played there part well. Aliens without Sigourney is like Terminator with no Arnold.
my altime scary movie was "the omega man"1971 ( later remade" I am legend" will smith) that thing kept me up all night(I was only 9), longest night of my life. ...havent never rewatched it, afraid it will spoil that memory
OMG that's what I thought too! Ripley looks at the queen and realizes she's trying to trick her. The queen gestures her warriors to back off so that Ripley doesn't go off with the flamethrower while at the same time has other warriors sneak up from the sides. That's when Ripley goes "... Bitch please". Not some indecisive bullshit "like "should I or shouldn't I". Wtf, Michael Beinn! How many times did you NOT watch this scene??
I think he thought the same, I think he was hoping others would cue in and that he wouldn't have to suggest this expletive, but he realised they weren't sure what exact moment he was referring to.
Actually what happens is the queen gestures the guards to back off. The queen allows Ripley and Newt to go. Then Ripley gives the look and flames everything. An act of vengeance for all those human lives the aliens had taken. So Beihn has it right.
A Jalapeño Actually what happens is first the queen seems to let them go when Ripley threatens her with the flamethrower (by shooting a flame in the air and then pointing it at an egg), but when they try backing out one of the eggs suddenly opens, showing the queen is actually treacherous - that's why Ripley gets pissed and flames the nest.
The queen can't magically make the eggs open, right? Eggs hatch on their own. If it were an "ambush", the queen wouldn't open an egg right in front of Ripley; it would be behind her instead. It just so happened that an egg hatch. And that triggered Ripley's fury.
Agreed - I went to opening night with friends of mine and I was BLOWN AWAY. I went with my dad and uncle about two weeks later and they also loved it! I STILL love it and will have it on at least a couple of times per year - it's become a kind of comfort film.
What an amazing cast! The world is less without Bill Paxton, he is considered my favorite actor! Loved his films and pretty cool how he was from my home state TX! He seemed like such a great honorable and special individual. He will forever be in my heart R.I.P. ❤🤠✌🙏🎥
Yes I was heart broken when I heard. That year was rough for me and my family in general, especially between me and my husband. Prayers to his family still for such a loss of a global talent and Giant in the biz.
If you watched the theatrical version 100,000 times you'd have to watch it constantly for 26 years, if you watched the special edition 100,000 times you'd need to watch it constantly for 29 years.
There was no CGI. Nothing like there is today. Processors were not power enough, and there was nowhere the memory needed to do Computer Generated Graphics. They used miniature models. Computers back then were mostly text driven programs and crude stickman graphics. They had no power to generate graphics you see in today's movies. Even within the Alien movie at the beginning, you can see this in their supposed future control panels guiding the Nostromo. The only graphics they had, even in the imagined state of the movie, were mostly text driven. Even "mother" was text driven. As for Green screen, it was crude and even in a finished movie you could tell it was green screen because everything in the foreground had a black outline around it. George Lucas, in his star wars movies used stop action photography to make his "Walkers" vehicles move. In later releases of those star wars movies he did add computer graphics though.
As a young girl, Sigourney Weaver became my hero and role model. For the first time, a woman was the strongest of all and even smarter than an alien creature. Absolutely brilliant!
Not strongest... just more acute and driven to survive... and being all that without having to bash males for whatever feministic reasons. Great character and how a female protagonist should be.
Far better to have real-life role models, such as 2-time Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie, or Daniella Ryf (3-time Ironman Triathlon World Champion), or psychiatrist Dr. Louise Jilek-Aal, a protege of Albert Schweitzer in his jungle hospital: Here's some more info about each of them. (Good Luck!): www.smithsonianmag.com/history/madame-curies-passion-74183598/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniela_Ryf, www.danielaryf.ch/en/ (Home page) www.mentalhealth.com/books/lja/lja-toc.html ("Working With Albert Schweitzer"/complete book online!) Dude (or sis? Whatever ;-;). The entire point and reason we watch movies at all is for the "what-ifs". To get as far away from reality as possible and let our minds wonder. Sure, it's great to succeed in real-life and all, but successes in fiction are successes in fiction for one simple purpose; to be better than the successes in real life.
Shes in my top 5 favorite movie character of all time. Just goes to show you that you dont have to push stupid feminist agenda to get a female character over. Right Hollywood?

Looking back at Aliens, its just nice to see a multi-racial and gendered cast that came together because it worked for the script, the story and the dynamics of the characters...and not because of some forced, over-corrected, woke agenda that takes the viewer out of the movie and leaves them with a sour feeling of being manipulated at the expense of art.
That’s because this was made in 1986 and all of this division between white and black people wasn’t been orchestrated by the left and the media. The world was a happier place in the 1980’s.
There would be some right-wing morons who would disagree with you. The fact there are women soldiers and people of color at all in this movie would be "woke" to them.

“Game over, man, game over!”
Why don't you put her in charge?
@steelhound duncan lol that makes sense. It did seem spontaneous and in retrospect I can’t see a writer actually writing that kind of line into the dialogue haha. Thanks for the information.
Good that they got the main cast, but definitely think Jeanette Goldstein needed to be there. She was so awesome as Vasquez.
+steelhound Duncan What about the other female marine called Ferro? She's the one who said "five by five". I can't remember how she died in Aliens.
An Alien killed her in the cockpit and crashed the ship
Ferro lived on as a starcraft pilot lol
02:05 And thats the Reason why the 80´s SiFi Movies are still better than anything came out in CGI Age.
CGI sucks balls. They made GREAT films back then because they didn't have the facility to get whatever they wanted. They had to work for it.
Cgi is fine. Bad cg is what is not fine.
Idk I really liked Annihilation...
Edit: fixed a grammatical error
Oh yeah. *high five*
CGI makes better visual effects dude, don't be such a sentimentalist, that being said aliens is a better movie than most modern film's because it's very interesting, it's definitely in top 5 favorite movies, most films are so unimaginative now, especially those annoying superhero movie's
I find it hard to believe these "reporter" ladies would sit through even 1 minute of this awesome movie
Agreed! Always makes me cringe!
Yeah, that movie inspired me into wanting to enlist, until my dad talked me out of it, lol.
All possible because of James Cameron.....simply the best
"Simply the best, better than all the rest" just like Tina Turner sang
James Cameron, the greatest pioneer!
I love the whole series, Sigourney made the franchise bottom line. Everyone else played there part well. Aliens without Sigourney is like Terminator with no Arnold.
No cgi what so ever and it gave me nightmares
Tbh old films always seem more scary than today's films. The aesthetic, the simple designs and even the music
russ9696962 I totally agree
russ9696962 movie soundtracks better back then too
my altime scary movie was "the omega man"1971 ( later remade" I am legend" will smith) that thing kept me up all night(I was only 9), longest night of my life. ...havent never rewatched it, afraid it will spoil that memory
jawadad802 I've never seen it :/ . For what it's worth.. happy new year lol
R.I.P Bill you were great in everything I saw you in
FACTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably the best sci-fi terror movie ever!!!
Thanks Ridley Scott, James Cameron and all the staff!!!
Timeless TOP MOVIE!!!
Sigourney had the "BITCH, PLEASE" face before flaming the nest :D
I remember walking out of the theatre when I seen this movie telling my dad "Wow! That was amazing!"....
Agreed - I went to opening night with friends of mine and I was BLOWN AWAY. I went with my dad and uncle about two weeks later and they also loved it! I STILL love it and will have it on at least a couple of times per year - it's become a kind of comfort film.
Nice
What an amazing cast! The world is less without Bill Paxton, he is considered my favorite actor! Loved his films and pretty cool how he was from my home state TX! He seemed like such a great honorable and special individual. He will forever be in my heart R.I.P. ❤🤠✌🙏🎥
Yes I was heart broken when I heard. That year was rough for me and my family in general, especially between me and my husband. Prayers to his family still for such a loss of a global talent and Giant in the biz.

I've watched this movie like 100,000 times and it has alway's been satisfying.
I've told you a million times not to exaggerate.
If you watched the theatrical version 100,000 times you'd have to watch it constantly for 26 years, if you watched the special edition 100,000 times you'd need to watch it constantly for 29 years.
2 much🤣
I should add the film is only 25 years old
Hudson is the first to open his mouth 30 years later.
It's game over man, game over!
Why don't you put her in charge!
Why don't we just count him out of the next reunion.
Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Its because he is uncertain as to whether this is going to be just another bug hunt ...
This is still one of the best action movies ever made. Period.
Sigourney Weaver is perfect on the last minutes of the movie
"Remember this was pre-CGI. No fancy computer effects or green screens existed"
Yeah, proper film making.
The lady that said that is a moron, There was CGI + Green + Blue screens it is common knowledge-Look it up
Somehow George Lucas ignored this.
In later releases of those star wars movies he did add computer graphics though.
thats true, but when cgi is done properly

"He's still in character after 30 years. He has never broken character." :D
Great cast, and movie! Still can't believe Bill Paxton is gone. Left us way to soon, RIP Hutson.
My all time favorite movie sure glad they got together while Bill Paxton was still with us
As a young girl, Sigourney Weaver became my hero and role model. For the first time, a woman was the strongest of all and even smarter than an alien creature. Absolutely brilliant!
Not strongest... just more acute and driven to survive... and being all that without having to bash males for whatever feministic reasons. Great character and how a female protagonist should be.
Yep, and don't forget a great leader.
Far better to have real-life role models, such as 2-time Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie, or Daniella Ryf (3-time Ironman Triathlon World Champion), or psychiatrist Dr. Louise Jilek-Aal, a protege of Albert Schweitzer in his jungle hospital:
Here's some more info about each of them. (Good Luck!):

Dude (or sis? Whatever ;-;). The entire point and reason we watch movies at all is for the "what-ifs". To get as far away from reality as possible and let our minds wonder. Sure, it's great to succeed in real-life and all, but successes in fiction are successes in fiction for one simple purpose; to be better than the successes in real life.
Shes in my top 5 favorite movie character of all time. Just goes to show you that you dont have to push stupid feminist agenda to get a female character over. Right Hollywood?
R.I.P Bill Paxton
GAME OVER MAN............. GAME OVER
RIP Bill Paxton
Haha. it lives in my mind
sadder that he died a shortly after this
Wait he Rip? :/ well rest in piece man.
'Yeah, man, but it's a dry heat!' I loved that character!
My God this movie is 100% LEGIT. Best sequel ever made..hands down. And one of the best sci fi movies ever made (period)
Er... Godfather 2?.... Empire Strikes Back?.... The Good, The Bad, The Ugly?
But yeah, Aliens is Defo a great one.
@shaz2761 Didn't realize the Good, the Bad and the Ugly wad a sequel. Love those movies you listed for sure.
@@mullcrumthesage6303 fair dos. Forgot Terminator 2 and Return of the King as well haha
One of the most entertaining movies of all time IMO. Regardless of genre.
Awesome! RIP Bill Paxton. It's so sad to see him so full of energy here and know that he passed away not long after this. So many of the cast have passed away now. But i'm glad they had a reunion.

One of the best movies of all time
Best scifi action horror of all time by far
with T2 off course
Of course this is a classic not even the new ones arent like this covenant tried but was also a good movie i think t2 t1 predator 1 2 predators matrix 123 are all the best
That's why the movie looked so good; NO CGI.
RIP Private Hudson.
Bill, you were great.
Aliens is my all time favorite movie ever. I still watch the blu ray movies today
indeed, the best ever! ;-)
Me too. I hope Covenant will be great as well.
Agreed
Good pick !
hiawa23 Same, best movie of all time!
I'm 55 years old.
"Aliens" was my absolute best in-theater experience and I'll never forget it.
Thank you James Cameron, James Horner, and all the cast.
It's also immortalized Bill Paxton at his best!
I liked this movie, but honestly the first one surrounds a lot of more mistery and takes you beyond the usual science fiction dimension
I feel the same way. I LOVE Aliens, just like I LOVE Terminator 2 (both Cameron's). But they are over-hyped action sequels, not the beauty, mystery, and darkness that is the originals; Alien and Terminator.
R.I.P Bill Paxton. :(
Bill Paxton and Lance were in Near Dark together. A different kind of vampire movie that many people haven't seen.
To this day Aliens and Alien are my very favorite horror films that I love to watch in the dark.
same.
well, creep show (both 1 + 2), they live, poltergeist, invasion of the body snatchers + the thing too. but thats it!

I've always had a inexplicable crush on her
I know what you mean. Did you see her in the movie Paul?
dkyelak
She was in this movie called Jeffrey where she was a motivational speaker. She had me at "You, with the bad perm."
mickeybunts I never thought of her that way since she was portrayed as an ordinary person and not a bimbo. She just reeks with class though and that is very attractive.
i never realized how tall sigourney weaver is. she seems to be an inch or more taller than all the men around her. a high elf warrior princess, good with miniguns and flamers, with extra points in strength and endurance . . . and charisma!

One of the few Films where the Directors Cut / Special Edition was better than the Theatrical release
after watching the theatrical release for many years I was blown away the first time I saw the directors cut. unbeknownst to me at the time I first viewed it I was like huh?...No friggin way this is awesome! To me it fills in some major gaps from the theatre release!
Even though the director's cut is awesome. I think it kind of slows the pace of the movie down.
Emptying the mini guns in the hallway against the Aliens?
Special edition show to much, Theatrical keeps you in the dark until the find the colonists.
@@ghostviggen i agree in a horror sense i think its better discovering what happened with the marines, tho i like the scene when ripley finds out about her daughter
Priceless when a movie cast is chemically mind blowing like ALIEN.
Without question the greatest series of sci-fi movies ever!!!!!
RIP Bill Paxton....
Awesome movie and unforgettable cast. RIP Bill, Game over man!
The directors cut/special edition is amazing
Looking back at Aliens, its just nice to see a multi-racial and gendered cast that came together because it worked for the script, the story and the dynamics of the characters...and not because of some forced, over-corrected, woke agenda that takes the viewer out of the movie and leaves them with a sour feeling of being manipulated at the expense of art.
So true!
That’s because this was made in 1986 and all of this division between white and black people wasn’t been orchestrated by the left and the media. The world was a happier place in the 1980’s.
That's what happens when talented people make the movies. It feels natural/organic and you accept it as a natural part of the story.
There would be some right-wing morons who would disagree with you. The fact there are women soldiers and people of color at all in this movie would be "woke" to them.
RIP BILL! Hudson will forever be my favorite character in the whole series!
The acting was unbelievable for a sci-fi film, aliens will never be touched... Pure classic
Fun fact: Lance Henrikson was originally tapped to play the Terminator in the first movie.
Sigourney Weaver is still so hot!
