    Thank you for your videos. I am an America and the man I am marrying is coming from Ilorun (sp.) Nigeria. He is Yoruba and I want to make him feel welcome here by studying and cooking the food he is used to. I will have time to practice so that he will not run 🏃🏿 back to Nigeria! Thank you!

    Thanks a lot. I have been looking for this recipe for Okro but haven’t found one yet on TH-cam. I’m a Ghanaian but I eat Nigerian food. I ate some of this stew with okro and pounded yam like how the Yoruba people do it. I’m glad I know the difference now. I was confusing it with ofada or buka stew. Thanks again.

    I really enjoyed watching you make this stew. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. This can be eaten with plain okra soup or rice right? Was that tatashe you used? I don’t seem to find that in here only bell peppers and it sweetens the stew which I don’t really enjoy. Do you have a trick in finding tatashe? Lol (I feel as tho its a dumb question)
    Just found your channel and I’m going to support you; hope we become friends😍😍

    • @Veeluvstocook
      @Veeluvstocook  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awww... I am so glad you found my channel and this was what you have been looking for. Thanks for the support.
      Sure, we have become friends🤗🤗.
      Yes you can have it with swallow by pairing it with the plain okro. That is actually what I do...
      As for finding tatashe my sister, the struggle is real. I dont think I have ever seen her. Sometimes I just imagine that the Italian long pepper is tatashe but surely it is not.
      Have you see. My :fry your best stew yet video on my channel. The trick I like to use especially if the sweetness of red bell pepper is too much for you is to strike a balance by adding few green bell pepper and /or tomatoes to the stew.
      I hope I answered your question. Let me know if you have any other question

    • @Veeluvstocook
      @Veeluvstocook  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The authentic taste for this particular stew is from the palm oil. You can use any other oil you want ( preferably flavorless oil e.g canola oil) however, it will not be this same taste as with palm oil and it will just be a regular stew. I have a video on that too on my channel. You can check it out if you want to.

    You didn't say how long you cooked the tomatoes.

    • @Veeluvstocook
      @Veeluvstocook  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Time varies according to various cooking conditions e.g the stove top temperature, the amount of acidity in your tomatoes, your level of tolerated acidity level.
      That said,this is what you should aim at: keep having a taste of the soup while cooking to ensure that the raw taste (tangy/acidity)of the tomatoes mix is gone( or better put, is satisfying to your palate). Once satisfied with the taste your tomato is done for you.
      I hope this explanation makes sense to you.

      I can’t tell you the exact time it will take to cook because of some variable, e.g your taste palate( how tangy you taste it), the gas stove temperature used, even up to the tomato used can alter the time. Etc.
      However I did tell you what you should look out for to certify doneness . Hopefully you didn’t miss that information and this helps. Stay safe

      Thanks for your constructive criticism. Having said that, my hands are always kept clean when cooking and before I take a taste(given I was stirring with a spatula not a regular spoon). I do both depending on what I feel comfortable with at the time. So I dont see any thing unhygienic about it. Thanks
