As a Warwick Top OTP, Warwick is one of the hardest Yorick Counters. You stomp him early, you can heal off of his ghouls and Maiden, you can q out of his cage and you pretty much almost win the all in with W active and E

More fact about how to counter Yorick : Tabi works on ghouls. Frozen Heart reduces the attack speed of Yorick, ghouls and maiden. Worst counter of Yorick is Warwick and Jax. If you play Morde against Yorick, always pick flash/ghost or he will be able to kite you in your ult.
Fiora vs Yorick is also completely free. Just dodge his E with your Q and keep track of your Q cd to be able to leave his W and you auto win most fights. You can also use the wall raising from the ground to stun him with your parry (the wall displacing you counts as hard CC)

My OTP champion is YORICK (2M+ points on all possible accounts, once #4 Yorick on EUNE) and my highest elo was low Diamond (due to persistent lack of macro-knowledge). Yorick is a minion-based champion (like Heimerdinger, Illaoi, Malzahar, Zyra etc.). As such, rid him off his ghouls and maiden first, so you’ll make him COMPLETELY useless, especially in all-in situations. Hence, always look for a safe opportunity to do so. -- Yorick ALWAYS has to organize the spawn of his ghouls, he can never fight right away but with his maiden. Apart from maiden, Yorick ALWAYS needs your minion wave to summon ghouls, so zone Yorick away from your minions. -- Yorick’s maiden (summoning ghouls from fallen enemies and empowering Yorick’s attacks against a single target) has a very long cooldown (160s / 130s / 100s). (killing maiden makes every Yorick player very upset :)) -- If you can’t kill maiden very quickly or in safer situation, don’t be an idiot trying to kill it anyway while being exposed to Yorick’s full attack. -- Ghouls may seem durable, but they are set to die by AA or AA-based ability (Irelia’s Q, Yasuo’s Q etc.). -- Despite maiden and ghouls, making him a very powerful duelist in a fight, it isn’t something what would make Yorick a hyper-carry champion, so one on one, he can be easily stomped later by more powerful duelist (Jax, Fiora, Yone etc.) even with maiden and all ghouls. Due to his minion-based reliance, Yorick’s priority in a fight is a ghoul control and spacing concerning immobilizing enemies. Yorick has the best splitpushing and overall one of the best objective-secure capabilities in the game. Furthermore for your consideration, it takes Yorick just a level 6 to solo clear Voidgrub camp in 30s, just one full item to solo kill Rift Herald in 20s and just two full items to solo kill Nashor. -- Minimize the time you let Yorick alone on the lane, you’ll quickly pay with your turrets and inhibitors otherwise. -- Try your best to not let Yorick get a Voidgrub buff, even his pushing maiden is able to trigger it. -- THE BEST COUNTERPICKS AGAINST YORICK (from my experience) + use Ignite for complete torment Warwick (with Barrier) A champion invalidating every Yorick’s attempts to harass or fight. With even conditions, any Yorick’s damage output NEVER beats WW’s healing (regardless of anti-heal item). Absolutely no counterplay from Yorick’s perspective, non-existent chance of winning. -- WW’s E causes ghouls and maiden to flee away while mitigating incoming damage from Yorick himself, preventing Yorick from every all-in attempt. -- Yorick can’t engage or disengage WW with his cage whatsoever. Trapped WW can escape by engaging Yorick with Q / R or can simply use E and chill. -- Yorick’s maiden is extremely susceptible to WW’s attacks, he’ll kill her in a few bites while tanking all the damage and then healing it all back. Irelia A champion indirectly designed to counter Yorick at almost every aspect and Yorick players’ favorite permaban, especially on high elo. No counterplay from Yorick’s perspective. -- Most importantly, Irelia can use Q all over Yorick’s ghouls, oneshotting them while empowering herself. She doing so, makes Yorick’s W completely useless. Tryndamere A super-cringe champion easily able to outdamage, outsustain and overall outperform Yorick. Yorick has no natural survival options. No counterplay from Yorick’s perspective. -- Yorick sends ghouls after Tryndamere, Tryndamere spins away and heals. :) -- Yorick slows down or traps Tryndamere, Tryndamere spins away or towards Yorick, slowing him down and autoattacking him to his death while being immortal. :) -- If killing Yorick at once is too risky, he spins away again and heals. :) -- Yorick goes all-in, Tryndamere kills maiden, uses R and autoattacks Yorick to his death. :) Urgot An absolute menace to Yorick in direct fight in lane, a very durable duelist champion with painful zoning capability. A very little counterplay from Yorick’s perspective. -- Urgot’s W oneshots ghouls and destroys Yorick’s W instantly, making trading for Yorick practically impossible. If going for a big trade or all-in, Yorick has to expose himself to Urgot’s W and further attack in order to not get his ghouls killed or his W destroyed (by Urgot’s W). -- Urgot is one of the few champions, who, given their R, can take Yorick down without killing his maiden first. Jax Better duel opportunities, mobility, better survivability, better scaling, even splitpush performance. A little counterplay from Yorick’s perspective. -- Jax can easily negate Yorick’s harass attempts with E. -- Jax can solve Yorick’s W either by leaping over or by instantly destroying with AA+W. -- Yorick’s maiden is a very susceptible against Jax’s AA burst. Gwen, Fiora, Riven, Yasuo Champions having in common extreme mobility, lane pressure, superior scaling tied with much superior damage output and even splitpush capability. From Yorick’s perspective, a little to moderate counterplay in lane phase, due to high mastery demands. No counterplay later on. -- All-in situations are very favorable to mentioned champions, they are even adapted to deal with Yorick’s trades more or less unharmed. -- Yorick’s W, as if, doesn’t exist in those matchups.

In general yorick is good how to take the objectives not to solo kill some1. in laning phase it depent who will make the 1st move to kill each other!! A good yorick's player will all in only if you are under 45% of your hp and you havent a good heal ready or at all (like morde's W or WW's Q). also the problem with yorick is his poke with his E+ghouls. In the end all the champs he said in the text above yorick can counter them easy. Only irelia is a problem but still there is tactic to overcome her and make her life difficult during the laning phase.i hope it helps you!!

its like IMAGINE his ghouls would die to spells. its almost as if it would make his champ balanced. naafiri dogs, malz W both take damage from aoe spells, why the FUCK cant yorick
@@pump7683malz's main damage is from e and r. About naafiri her dog is also very tanky (does not get oneshot from auto attack + spell and can regenerate health). But as for yorick, if he doesn't have ghouls, he will be useless because yorick's damage comes from ghouls about 70%. So in team fight at river he just useless because no minions for him to spawn ghouls.

@@pump7683 Man, Yorick is a top lane melee mage. Playing ranged high attack speed champs or high damage Bruisers is the way to counter it. Don't cry just because of the champs you choose to play or the way you are playing into yorick. You are getting hit by an easy to dodge, slow and small skill like yorick's E while he has ghouls. You either control your wave better so yorick doesn't summon ghouls or you don't get hit by E when he has ghouls. His ghouls will just walk into turret and die in one hit anyway. He can't control it. Learn to play around it, that's all. You could also just pick another champ into him. You don't know how to play irelia/mordekaiser? Pick Cho gath and eat his wife. Yorick's ult takes 3 minutes to recharge. Cho gath's ult takes 60 seconds. Just walk up, press R, you get a stack, 50 gold and some xp. Of course, if you are the Yorick and you have to play vs irelia/mordekaiser/cho gath, you'd think those champs are unbalanced and need NeRf. But that's just the magic of mach ups. Accept that not all champs are the same and you have to learn to play around them.

we really need a video how to counter mordekaiser. a bruiser with shields, healing, aoe damage which is greater if dealt to an isolated target, cc, isolating ult and all of this has 0 mana cost. i have 0 idea what u can do about it if a morde player has more than 20 iq (optional)
Movement and Dashes, he is a walking turret with no engage options besides getting you with E. Irelia and mostly Fiora hardcounters him. Last I checked, like 3-4 seasons ago, Darius outlasts him too, Morde cannot win against a trade in which he reach all the passive stacks, Garen probably does too with a good W proc to negate 1 Q in a trade, Jax can force a trade and prevent him from getting his passive on with E since Morde needs at least 1 AA to trigger it in lane, assuming it uses and hits E and even Q, so if rushing a full or even half an item Jax can probably jump straight into him and win, even with Minions since Morde wants to ult in an All-out anyway to get the enemy stats.

I agree with most of what he said. as for counter picks, I have no problems, I can play against everything, so I can adapt to everything, that's why I'm currently the best yorick on one server and 45 in the world.
Don't forget to kill his ultimate. I see so many allies focus Yorick and die to him when his ult was a free kill. He can't do shit without his minions, and his R is like half his damage

1. merc treads reduces her root duration 2. if you're an AD on hit champion, wit's end reduces her root duration and has magic resist 3.if you're a bruiser, sterak's gage reduces her root duration and grants burst protection thanks to lifeline passive 4. if you're a marksman or an AD champ that dont care about health, mercurial scimitar can cleanse her root 5.if you're AP, banshee's veil can block her root or alternatively, zhonya and time your stasis so she ults you during it, rendering it useless 6.or just take cleanse as summoner spell
really just build a null-magic cloak in the early game and her damage becomes none-existent. she also struggles against assassins since her Q is her only defensive option and her shield is minimal at best
Keep in mind the new build for yorick also included lyandries for the damage amp and enables maiden to split push and solo kill pretty much anyone who isn't the top laner
If you fight Yorick with his Ult, you have to get rid of it asap to reduce his high dps. Leave him alone for too long and you lose lane completely and his splitplush becomes harder to deal with.
As LDR has no more damage increases over having health. What to do when enemy tanky…..specially tanky AP champs. Take anyone as example but particularly swain and vlad
if you want to counter yorick, build frozen heart irellia bareley counters yorick post q buff morde can still be stalled by w jax is the only real counter here another would be trynda, but not in direct combat more in making pressure

Anti heal is a good choice due to W, if you're an assassin, Serpent's fang (to negate his shield), duelists and champs with mobility are good and solid choices (Jax, Riven, Fiora), don't try to play an early game champion if you're not comfortable enough with the matchup... Always consider that most Volibear players will try to either cheese early game, or play very aggro, so going a tank isn't a good choice (Voli will poke you out of lane with passive, few trades when you try to farm, and will dive you), this can be punished by a few champs, and that Voli loves extended fights... Despite Volibear doing mixed damage (AP and AD) you want Tabi boots because his passive gives him AS, his Q, and his W, all do AD damage You have many different ways to deal with Volibear, regarding picks, Aatrox is a decent pick against him because you can kite him (He needs to get on top of you), Riven can also screw him up, Fiora if you time your W, you can parry either his Q or his E, negating a lot of his damage, Illaoi can also do things against him because he is an all in champ, his hitbox is quite big and his main mobility/engage is towards you, so landing an E on him is easy, plus since he wants to All in, he'll lose if you freeze wave near your tower and keep yourself healthy (If you see his E on you, you can W on a minion to get away), Jax can easily decide if he wants to fight or not and to dodge his W, negating his heal... If you want AP choices, Sylas can give a decent fight, Vladimir can survive, Kennen if you can kite and know how to space yourself... It's crucial that you either: Avoid early game cheese by Volibear (if he comes ignite expect the PTA + Q start + ignite trade and don't approach bushes), and starve him off kills, it's very good to pick burst oriented champions or those that can simply kite him, keeping up with his sustain is also a decent choice (Vladimir). Don't try to fight him on extended trades (His E deals a truckload of damage and grants him a shield, he'll heal it all with W, and he'll simply run you down)...
@@biaatiser Voli vs Nasus is a matchup that during early, favors Voli, I'd say to take fleet footwork and to only Q the wave when FF is charged, you bait him into attempting to fight you, so he charges his passive and potentially ends up pushing the wave, you want to freeze or only last hit, keeping yourself healthy is extremely important, don't waste mana on E, just Q and W early...
There isn't much explanation. Just know that resistences are taken into account when dealing damage through a shield. Execute abilities like Pyke R and Urgot R ignore shields. Shield Bash works really well with champions with shields (Camille, K'Sante, Diana) because you gain bonus resistences during and after gaining a shield and also deal bonus damage. Renekton empowered W removes shields all together. That's... all you need to know, really.
Chogath is also a great counter vs Yorick because he can oneshot Maiden with his ulti pre lvl 11 and stacks gained from it are from pets so it doesn't count towards 6 stacks cap from creeps
Don't take extended fights against Mordekaiser, he wins them due to passive, main counterpick is Renekton (Morde wants to fight with W to deny your damage, Renekton empowered W destroys shields), get mobis because he'll rush Liandry and run you down with passive otherwise, other counters are Riven, Fiora, Trundle, Jax... Don't ever play a tank against Mordekaiser in case he's the only AP (If he's the only AP on his team he'll chunk your HP anyways because his passive does Max HP% damage and you'll probably lose lane, not have enough gold to compensate having lost lane and be screwed by an AD) Always keep in mind Morde's W (the white line under his health bar), if it's filled, bait him into a fight so he uses it, and pushes against you (you can ask your jungle for ganks since he'll push lane because of it), if it's not full, go for a trade but get out so he doesn't even it or chunk you out due to passive, his E has a large cooldown, so once it's down you can enter fight him too... Mostly you play that lane to outscale him or to punish his mistakes depending on your champion... Don't pick something you're not comfortable with against him...
As a Yorick player please go Jax, for some reason y’all always use Q to engage. When that happens a yorick can easily use his W on himself and you just int after being trapped. If you use Q to run away it’s an easy E because it’s simply a matter of targeting the right minion or the ward you put down
... Yeah, it took a while to learn to walk up normally to engage, then use Q to pursue when they dash or flash or run in some other way (or to get away yourself).
Mordekaiser is bad advise you will never be able to kill a good yorick in your ult. As a former yorick onetrick you dont use w while his ult is up, and as soon as morde ults you cast it infornt of you/on yourself and run out of it so you can outspace his q and e with it and dance around it + yorick will go w max second so as long as morde doesnt go nashors he wont destroy it in time. you should rather pick soemthing in the lines of trundle, trynda and jax/irelia as you said.
I once heard that 1 item Yorick+maiden deal damage comparable to Vayne with 3 items. I don't know how true that is but I won't question it at the moment. By the way, do you accept song suggestions? I thought Pokémon Mansion could be cool for Camille; Professor Sycamore's theme for Fiora because French, Indigo Plateau for Skarner and that sandwich song from SV for Gragas.

Mordekaiser is actually not very bad for yorick at all. As long as yorick just holds his w for mord r and kites around it properly he basically escapes the situation for free. I would go for tryndamere as a second counter instead as he outpushes yorick, completely gaps him early, kills his maiden instantly, gets out of w for free with his e, and can just run him down after due to his immobile nature.
mordekaiser should never ult until that w is on cd. morde beats yorick in every stage of the game. its one of the most one-sided matchups to ever exist.
Yorick with no ult is useless, cho gath pre 6 looses to yorick but if you can stay even with him until level 6 you can just chomp his ult and delete it. Cho ult will come back up twice for each yorick ult so spend your 1st ult to get rid of maiden and your second to win fights against him. See Tyler1 use chogath against yorick for a good example
Ive never lost to mordekaiser as Yorick. You max W, and use his low mobility against him. If he ults you, use W on you and not on Morde. He will have to either flash to kill you or get ready to fight you and your entire family when he leaves ult.
Mordekaiser is not the counter you think he is (If anything the opposite is true). Even without his ghouls Yorick can still juke Morde while in Brazil as E is easy to dodge, W can be used to either trap him inside or force a merry go round situation, Yorick's E also has a slow so he can keep away and if used right before returning from Brazil then Morde's about to get jumped by Yorick's wife and kids who are waiting on the other side. Jax and Irelia on the other hand, are very much hard counters who will give Yorick a terrible time. Another hard counter to include is Tryndamere. We don't like him either.
Cho Gath is by far the strongest champion vs Yorick not only does Cho heal more from killing his passive than they do DMG to him he also One shots Yoricks Ult from full HP with his own Ult. Yorick can theoretically still win duels vs champions like Irelia with only his Ult and Sustained DMG + Healing from his Q when building bruiser/off tank, so these champions mainly just counter Lethality Yorick, don't get me wrong those champions are still super strong vs Bruiser Yorick, however Chogath counters Yorick COMPLETLY he can effectively nullify his passive and his Ult instantaneously with no counterplay
also want to say that people often fight Yorick with his Maiden up, this makes the fight a literal 1v2. killing his Maiden before going all in is going to massively increase your chances of winning the duel (junglers should also use smite on maiden since it does full DMG to her, giving maximum value in a fight)

Yorick’s W (cage) is his main disengage, immobilizing and overall fight-management option.
-- You can simply negate it by every terrain-passing dash ability (Fiora’s Q, Tryndamere’s E etc.) or you can destroy it by AA or AA-based ability - the faster, the better.
-- It has a longest cooldown of his base abilities (20s / 18s / 16s / 14s / 12s).
-- Don’t TP away near Yorick, he can knock you up by proper placing of his W.
Apart his possible movement speed bonuses, Yorick himself is completely immobile and lacks hard CC.
-- If you can dash more than once, you have a crucial advantage against Yorick.
Yorick has the best splitpushing and overall one of the best objective-secure capabilities in the game. He is able to push every single lane all the way down at once without even being there and he utilizes usual anti-turret stuff (Demolish rune, Voidgrub buff, Hullbreaker etc.). Furthermore for your consideration, it takes Yorick just a level 6 to solo clear Voidgrub camp in 30s, just one full item to solo kill Rift Herald in 20s and just two full items to solo kill Nashor.
-- Minimize the time you let Yorick alone on the lane, you’ll quickly pay with your turrets and inhibitors otherwise.
-- Try your best to not let Yorick get a Voidgrub buff, even his pushing maiden is able to trigger it.

THE BEST COUNTERPICKS AGAINST YORICK (from my experience) + use Ignite for complete torment
Warwick (with Barrier)
A champion invalidating every Yorick’s attempts to harass or fight. With even conditions, any Yorick’s damage output NEVER beats WW’s healing (regardless of anti-heal item). Absolutely no counterplay from Yorick’s perspective, non-existent chance of winning.
-- WW’s E causes ghouls and maiden to flee away while mitigating incoming damage from Yorick himself, preventing Yorick from every all-in attempt.
-- Yorick can’t engage or disengage WW with his cage whatsoever. Trapped WW can escape by engaging Yorick with Q / R or can simply use E and chill.
-- Yorick’s maiden is extremely susceptible to WW’s attacks, he’ll kill her in a few bites while tanking all the damage and then healing it all back.
Irelia
A champion indirectly designed to counter Yorick at almost every aspect and Yorick players’ favorite permaban, especially on high elo. No counterplay from Yorick’s perspective.
-- Most importantly, Irelia can use Q all over Yorick’s ghouls, oneshotting them while empowering herself. She doing so, makes Yorick’s W completely useless.
Tryndamere
A super-cringe champion easily able to outdamage, outsustain and overall outperform Yorick. Yorick has no natural survival options. No counterplay from Yorick’s perspective.
-- Yorick sends ghouls after Tryndamere, Tryndamere spins away and heals. :)
-- Yorick slows down or traps Tryndamere, Tryndamere spins away or towards Yorick, slowing him down and autoattacking him to his death while being immortal. :)
-- If killing Yorick at once is too risky, he spins away again and heals. :)
-- Yorick goes all-in, Tryndamere kills maiden, uses R and autoattacks Yorick to his death. :)
Urgot
An absolute menace to Yorick in direct fight in lane, a very durable duelist champion with painful zoning capability. A very little counterplay from Yorick’s perspective.
-- Urgot’s W oneshots ghouls and destroys Yorick’s W instantly, making trading for Yorick practically impossible. If going for a big trade or all-in, Yorick has to expose himself to Urgot’s W and further attack in order to not get his ghouls killed or his W destroyed (by Urgot’s W).
-- Urgot is one of the few champions, who, given their R, can take Yorick down without killing his maiden first.
Jax
Better duel opportunities, mobility, better survivability, better scaling, even splitpush performance. A little counterplay from Yorick’s perspective.
-- Jax can easily negate Yorick’s harass attempts with E.
-- Jax can solve Yorick’s W either by leaping over or by instantly destroying with AA+W.
-- Yorick’s maiden is a very susceptible against Jax’s AA burst.
Gwen, Fiora, Riven, Yasuo
Champions having in common extreme mobility, lane pressure, superior scaling tied with much superior damage output and even splitpush capability. From Yorick’s perspective, a little to moderate counterplay in lane phase, due to high mastery demands. No counterplay later on.
-- All-in situations are very favorable to mentioned champions, they are even adapted to deal with Yorick’s trades more or less unharmed.
-- Yorick’s W, as if, doesn’t exist in those matchups.

In general yorick is good how to take the objectives not to solo kill some1. in laning phase it depent who will make the 1st move to kill each other!! A good yorick's player will all in only if you are under 45% of your hp and you havent a good heal ready or at all (like morde's W or WW's Q). also the problem with yorick is his poke with his E+ghouls. In the end all the champs he said in the text above yorick can counter them easy. Only irelia is a problem but still there is tactic to overcome her and make her life difficult during the laning phase.i hope it helps you!!

@@pump7683malz's main damage is from e and r. About naafiri her dog is also very tanky (does not get oneshot from auto attack + spell and can regenerate health). But as for yorick, if he doesn't have ghouls, he will be useless because yorick's damage comes from ghouls about 70%. So in team fight at river he just useless because no minions for him to spawn ghouls.

@@pump7683 Man, Yorick is a top lane melee mage. Playing ranged high attack speed champs or high damage Bruisers is the way to counter it. Don't cry just because of the champs you choose to play or the way you are playing into yorick. You are getting hit by an easy to dodge, slow and small skill like yorick's E while he has ghouls. You either control your wave better so yorick doesn't summon ghouls or you don't get hit by E when he has ghouls. His ghouls will just walk into turret and die in one hit anyway. He can't control it. Learn to play around it, that's all.
You could also just pick another champ into him. You don't know how to play irelia/mordekaiser? Pick Cho gath and eat his wife. Yorick's ult takes 3 minutes to recharge. Cho gath's ult takes 60 seconds. Just walk up, press R, you get a stack, 50 gold and some xp.
Of course, if you are the Yorick and you have to play vs irelia/mordekaiser/cho gath, you'd think those champs are unbalanced and need NeRf. But that's just the magic of mach ups. Accept that not all champs are the same and you have to learn to play around them.

we really need a video how to counter mordekaiser. a bruiser with shields, healing, aoe damage which is greater if dealt to an isolated target, cc, isolating ult and all of this has 0 mana cost. i have 0 idea what u can do about it if a morde player has more than 20 iq (optional)
Movement and Dashes, he is a walking turret with no engage options besides getting you with E.
Irelia and mostly Fiora hardcounters him. Last I checked, like 3-4 seasons ago, Darius outlasts him too, Morde cannot win against a trade in which he reach all the passive stacks, Garen probably does too with a good W proc to negate 1 Q in a trade, Jax can force a trade and prevent him from getting his passive on with E since Morde needs at least 1 AA to trigger it in lane, assuming it uses and hits E and even Q, so if rushing a full or even half an item Jax can probably jump straight into him and win, even with Minions since Morde wants to ult in an All-out anyway to get the enemy stats.

Don't forget to kill his ultimate. I see so many allies focus Yorick and die to him when his ult was a free kill. He can't do shit without his minions, and his R is like half his damage

Lux - both mid and bot lane. She is a pain.
1. merc treads reduces her root duration
2. if you're an AD on hit champion, wit's end reduces her root duration and has magic resist
3.if you're a bruiser, sterak's gage reduces her root duration and grants burst protection thanks to lifeline passive
4. if you're a marksman or an AD champ that dont care about health, mercurial scimitar can cleanse her root
5.if you're AP, banshee's veil can block her root or alternatively, zhonya and time your stasis so she ults you during it, rendering it useless
6.or just take cleanse as summoner spell
really just build a null-magic cloak in the early game and her damage becomes none-existent. she also struggles against assassins since her Q is her only defensive option and her shield is minimal at best

Anti heal is a good choice due to W, if you're an assassin, Serpent's fang (to negate his shield), duelists and champs with mobility are good and solid choices (Jax, Riven, Fiora), don't try to play an early game champion if you're not comfortable enough with the matchup...
Always consider that most Volibear players will try to either cheese early game, or play very aggro, so going a tank isn't a good choice (Voli will poke you out of lane with passive, few trades when you try to farm, and will dive you), this can be punished by a few champs, and that Voli loves extended fights...
Despite Volibear doing mixed damage (AP and AD) you want Tabi boots because his passive gives him AS, his Q, and his W, all do AD damage
You have many different ways to deal with Volibear, regarding picks, Aatrox is a decent pick against him because you can kite him (He needs to get on top of you), Riven can also screw him up, Fiora if you time your W, you can parry either his Q or his E, negating a lot of his damage, Illaoi can also do things against him because he is an all in champ, his hitbox is quite big and his main mobility/engage is towards you, so landing an E on him is easy, plus since he wants to All in, he'll lose if you freeze wave near your tower and keep yourself healthy (If you see his E on you, you can W on a minion to get away), Jax can easily decide if he wants to fight or not and to dodge his W, negating his heal... If you want AP choices, Sylas can give a decent fight, Vladimir can survive, Kennen if you can kite and know how to space yourself...
It's crucial that you either: Avoid early game cheese by Volibear (if he comes ignite expect the PTA + Q start + ignite trade and don't approach bushes), and starve him off kills, it's very good to pick burst oriented champions or those that can simply kite him, keeping up with his sustain is also a decent choice (Vladimir). Don't try to fight him on extended trades (His E deals a truckload of damage and grants him a shield, he'll heal it all with W, and he'll simply run you down)...

@@biaatiser Voli vs Nasus is a matchup that during early, favors Voli, I'd say to take fleet footwork and to only Q the wave when FF is charged, you bait him into attempting to fight you, so he charges his passive and potentially ends up pushing the wave, you want to freeze or only last hit, keeping yourself healthy is extremely important, don't waste mana on E, just Q and W early...
Video Idea: explain how shields really works and how to counter then
There isn't much explanation. Just know that resistences are taken into account when dealing damage through a shield. Execute abilities like Pyke R and Urgot R ignore shields. Shield Bash works really well with champions with shields (Camille, K'Sante, Diana) because you gain bonus resistences during and after gaining a shield and also deal bonus damage. Renekton empowered W removes shields all together. That's... all you need to know, really.

Don't take extended fights against Mordekaiser, he wins them due to passive, main counterpick is Renekton (Morde wants to fight with W to deny your damage, Renekton empowered W destroys shields), get mobis because he'll rush Liandry and run you down with passive otherwise, other counters are Riven, Fiora, Trundle, Jax...
Don't ever play a tank against Mordekaiser in case he's the only AP (If he's the only AP on his team he'll chunk your HP anyways because his passive does Max HP% damage and you'll probably lose lane, not have enough gold to compensate having lost lane and be screwed by an AD)
Always keep in mind Morde's W (the white line under his health bar), if it's filled, bait him into a fight so he uses it, and pushes against you (you can ask your jungle for ganks since he'll push lane because of it), if it's not full, go for a trade but get out so he doesn't even it or chunk you out due to passive, his E has a large cooldown, so once it's down you can enter fight him too...
Mostly you play that lane to outscale him or to punish his mistakes depending on your champion...
Don't pick something you're not comfortable with against him...

As a Yorick player please go Jax, for some reason y’all always use Q to engage.
When that happens a yorick can easily use his W on himself and you just int after being trapped.
If you use Q to run away it’s an easy E because it’s simply a matter of targeting the right minion or the ward you put down
... Yeah, it took a while to learn to walk up normally to engage, then use Q to pursue when they dash or flash or run in some other way (or to get away yourself).

Mordekaiser is bad advise you will never be able to kill a good yorick in your ult. As a former yorick onetrick you dont use w while his ult is up, and as soon as morde ults you cast it infornt of you/on yourself and run out of it so you can outspace his q and e with it and dance around it + yorick will go w max second so as long as morde doesnt go nashors he wont destroy it in time. you should rather pick soemthing in the lines of trundle, trynda and jax/irelia as you said.
I once heard that 1 item Yorick+maiden deal damage comparable to Vayne with 3 items. I don't know how true that is but I won't question it at the moment.

Mordekaiser is actually not very bad for yorick at all. As long as yorick just holds his w for mord r and kites around it properly he basically escapes the situation for free. I would go for tryndamere as a second counter instead as he outpushes yorick, completely gaps him early, kills his maiden instantly, gets out of w for free with his e, and can just run him down after due to his immobile nature.
mordekaiser should never ult until that w is on cd. morde beats yorick in every stage of the game. its one of the most one-sided matchups to ever exist.

Yorick with no ult is useless, cho gath pre 6 looses to yorick but if you can stay even with him until level 6 you can just chomp his ult and delete it. Cho ult will come back up twice for each yorick ult so spend your 1st ult to get rid of maiden and your second to win fights against him. See Tyler1 use chogath against yorick for a good example

Ive never lost to mordekaiser as Yorick. You max W, and use his low mobility against him. If he ults you, use W on you and not on Morde. He will have to either flash to kill you or get ready to fight you and your entire family when he leaves ult.

Mordekaiser is not the counter you think he is (If anything the opposite is true). Even without his ghouls Yorick can still juke Morde while in Brazil as E is easy to dodge, W can be used to either trap him inside or force a merry go round situation, Yorick's E also has a slow so he can keep away and if used right before returning from Brazil then Morde's about to get jumped by Yorick's wife and kids who are waiting on the other side. Jax and Irelia on the other hand, are very much hard counters who will give Yorick a terrible time. Another hard counter to include is Tryndamere. We don't like him either.

Most of his power budget is in Maiden too, so get rid of maiden, and yorick is pretty easy to fight. easier said than done tho
Cho Gath is by far the strongest champion vs Yorick not only does Cho heal more from killing his passive than they do DMG to him he also One shots Yoricks Ult from full HP with his own Ult. Yorick can theoretically still win duels vs champions like Irelia with only his Ult and Sustained DMG + Healing from his Q when building bruiser/off tank, so these champions mainly just counter Lethality Yorick, don't get me wrong those champions are still super strong vs Bruiser Yorick, however Chogath counters Yorick COMPLETLY he can effectively nullify his passive and his Ult instantaneously with no counterplay
also want to say that people often fight Yorick with his Maiden up, this makes the fight a literal 1v2. killing his Maiden before going all in is going to massively increase your chances of winning the duel (junglers should also use smite on maiden since it does full DMG to her, giving maximum value in a fight)
