A client just gave me one of these 405 Kildare's last week. It has some deep tooth marks on the stem and had been reamed alot so it is 20.67mm ID. I did a mild clean up. Really enjoy your videos.
I appreciate the compliment. It’s just a hobby to relax. Although I just snapped a pipe shank in half buffing the pipe. It was a sweet Peterson barrel pipe. That’s not very relaxing. Thank You for watching.
I messaged Scott with Aristocob and he said closing may not be permanent. I have some sodium silicate but haven’t needed to use it yet but seem to be a good product. Canerodpipe has a TH-cam channel and he made a video on how he makes his own pipe mortar. I would start by watching that first. Thank You for watching and the comment.
@@The_Southland_Piper Thank for your reply. I have a 1979 Dunhill that is a good smoker but the draft hole is just a bit too high and I've always wanted to build it up just a little. I'm the original owner and could have returned it when I got it but just never did. I'll look up Canerodpipe and see what he has to say. I'm tired of looking at it every day in my pipe rack. Time to stop procrastinating and act.....lol Thanks again
@@gtrmusic69 Definitely use pipe mortar. As the mortar dries I will use a reamer to make it nice and smooth. I would not use sodium silicate to raise the bottom of the bowl. It’s call liquid glass for a reason. Good luck.
Nice tip on the rim with the golf ball. Top work.
Thank You it works great. Thank you for watching.

Amazing results, Tim! Looks great. Those are some gnarly reamers!!
Thank You. Some pipes turn out better than others. I’d give this one a b minus. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wonderful restoration!!!!!!! When are you gonna open "Tims House of Pipe Repair?"

But don't the failures make your successes that much sweeter?!?

Turned out nice
Thank You. I appreciate the comment. Thank you for watching.
Now that you can't get Aristocob any more, what other products would you recommend? I've heard good things about Sodium Silicate but haven't tried it.
