Mine too mate. Not a week past in the last 40 +years that I haven’t listened to this track When John peel first played it on his show. Pre release it destroyed me. Absolutely amazing .I was 15 I’m 57 now and it’s still in my top 5
Yeah and mine. Something in us that was crystallised in a year or two. I like stuff from the sixties and early seventies and stuff from the eighties and nineties but there is a period of a couple of years that define me.
Bought this in my local Woolworths when i was 17. Nobody else did through as it was only a minor hit. I was a massive Stranglers fan and this sounded like an angry Hugh Cornwell ripping his way through a Stranglers song ! I hit 50 this month week and still think it`s fantastic.
Remember him saying he smoked 20 cigarettes before recording this to get the rough sound. Got the 7 inch cover version still almost perfect. That from a Stranglers fan who saw an up and coming Manc support band for the Stranglers in April 1980 called JOY DIVISION don’t know what happened to them!
I am a progressive rock fan since I was 9... but then I also got into punk!!! I love them equally and people often ask me how I can love both for they are the opposites haha! I think that punk and prog were the rock genres with most indipendence and personality! Totally out of the schemes!!!
Clint Davies more over looked then. even 6music normally plays other Buzzcocks tunes. And back in 79 the great british public were more interested in cliff and abba.
YES IT IS Stereogrim !! Steve Diggle is an incredible songwriter . Fast Cars and Autonomy are also great songs by Diggle . I been fan of them for just over 20 years and counting
+GottnyGrapes Diggle an incredible songwriter? He wrote a few good tunes as a Buzzcock, but Pete Shelley wrote dozens and dozens of great songs as a Buzzcock. Are you Steve Diggle's nephew or something?

Buzzcocks - Harmony In My Head 0845am 14.10.24 i only turned up cos everyone looked like someone from the buzzcocks in Manchester the other day... well, a lot.... of 'em did. weird. good job i wasn't on drugs else it might have really freaked me out.
Shook Steve's hand last night after gig here in Lyon; they still giving it 100%, it was mental, people throwing themselves around, had a great night! You cannot beat live performances.
few years ago they have played in belgrade, serbia... although they are oldies, still have amazing attitude and energy on scene...thanx god for bands like they are...
this was the buzzcocks moving on. That Steve bloke is a bit of a genius too. Saw the Buzzcocks live in 2006, and he still has the attitude of a teenager. Good on you Steve!
This track is absolutely awesome,,,,many other less played tracks were absolutely awesome and totally underrated……could name so many, but ESP,is the ULTIMATE in my mind. Love you Pete Shelly ❤
Great catchy guitar riffs the Buzzcocks came up with. I had all their singles, and can't believe how fresh they still sound, hearing them again on TH-cam.
jamierourketenI was easily the only kid in my enormous Arizona highschool to have Singles Going Steady in 1980. Fell in love with the Ramones in 78 and then the Buzzcocks blew me away in 79 with their melodies and sentiments. I wanted to be British so bad.
Awesome video and good Soundquality. Thanx a 1ooo times for posting....what a tribute to one of the best songs and Bands ever! Punkrock could only killed by constant Happyness...
The crowd is so lifeless and the very definition of tepid. Growing up in the frontier of Northern Michigan, amid miners and lumberjacks, nothing inspired me more on my drive to school than the Buzzcocks. I wish there existed a clean and re-mastered Boredom track. The track I have sounds bleached.
+Michael Westfall Then again, it's a TV show. Probably didn't want it too wild as it distracts from the band miming to their song. American Bandstand was the same - I remember John Lydon pulling people off the bleachers trying to get them to dance while he pointedly avoided trying to look like he was singing - closing his mouth, tapping the equipment with the dead mic, etc.
My fav Buzzcocks track alongside Why Shes the Girl From the Chain Store! They just happen to have Diggles aggressive vocals on both tracks, but love Shelley to! ~ thanks for the post.
This harmony has actually been in my head for the past 40 years!

I hope you made it to 61 and you're still blasting this like you were 17!!!
You have impeccable taste sir
Just love Diggle's posing and posturing as he's finally got his chance to sing!!
+ricardo torero Good observation. It's a good thing that he was posturing to a corker of a song!

R.I.P. Pete, Thanks for all the great tunes.
Indeed, but harmony is actually a diggle song.
beleive a diggle song,giggle giggle
Yes great song by Diggle, but Pete's fantastic voice coming in on the chorus.
Pete bleibt für immer unvergessen !

Shelley’s presence on the guitar in this song is awesome!
Shook Steve's hand last night after gig here in Lyon; they still giving it 100%, it was mental, people throwing themselves around, had a great night! You cannot beat live performances.
One of the best punk rock songs ever. No flaws, just a perfect harmony
I always totally loved this single and still do. A fantastic blast of proper original punk rock!
One of the best songs ever written.
what an amazing song.
Best punk band ever. This song rocks

Steve just brings a whole new dimension to the band when he takes over vocals.
Good grief.. the Buzzers were fucking magnificent.
Of course!
Yes still are 👍🏻🇬🇧
My Gawd what a great band... It was a privilege to be a kid when they and all the other Ace New Wave Bands showed up in the late 70's... :)
diggle was wearing the exact same outfit when I saw the buzzcocks last night some 40 years after this was filmed.
I hope he had washed it.
One of the best punk 80's bands ever.
I absolutely love this song it was one of there best records I still go mad when I play it now rest in peace Pete
I think this tune holds up as the best of their catalogue of great music tbh ...strange it wasn't seen that way at the time as i remember

Jimmy doing the devil hand sign right at the beginning???love this band and what a tune.
Favorite Buzzcocks song, Diggle's voice is awesome!!!
Saw them in Jaqs, Aberdare on Thursday. Outstanding. Lots of memories.

it was a trip back to 70`s
I like the aggressive looking singing on this. Definitely a fave Buzzcocks!
so sad Pete's passing today 12-5-18. 63 years young. Thank you Peter! You've done well.

@TheClassicalSymphony its Steve Diggle singing on this song, not Pete Shelly
Thought the bass player sang this one

Isn't this Steve Diggle?
@TheClassicalSymphony Newsflash, people don't 'turn' gay. He's openly bisexual and so are his lyrics. It's a nice change from all the macho bullshit.
Amazing track !!!
Allways...Harmony in my head...BUZZCOCKS...
Ahhh! Harmony to my ears and heart!
Most of the punk groups of that time could hardly play their instruments, but not the Buzzcocks. They had some real chops. The drummer is so solid.
