Wanted to listen to the opposition perspective as a Blues fan, thought most of this was fair. The only point I would make is Brady is heavily involved despite his small shareholding. He speaks to Wagner every day and Davies on a weekly basis. He was on the panel for the managerial interviews and has basically sent his fitness team over to revamp our fitness and recovery. He also made an appearance at a school in South Brum to speak to the kids. I enjoyed the game and occasion, good luck for the rest of the season 🤙🏻

From a blues fan, i respect tim for his honest view on blues performance and his comments on McLean. You may not know but people died in IRA bombings in Birmingham so flashing an IRA tatto is disrespectful on every level. Also theres just no need for him to constantly get into fights. Anyway good luck for the season.

I suggest that on this occasion there is no doubt McClean stepped over the line in terms of sensitivity and just basic common sense. It’s the constant danger of trying to walk a line there is simply no need to walk at all. His provocations are not “entertaining”. They are provocations. Trying to argue over the meaning of a tattoo just makes us look more ignorant as a fan base. He is the team captain and this wasn’t an action appropriate to that position. End of story really. It was crass, unnecessary and damaging.

  • @mikehughescq
    @mikehughescq 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Like the match, ‘‘twas a podcast of thirds. Thought the initial match analysis was the finest I’d heard you do. Really good. I hadn’t dwelt on the Palmer issue but I think Andy was spot on and his solutuon may be too. Suspect it may wait a game or two longer as SPM clearly not quite match fit and, as per last season, trying a little too hard.
My only disappointment was not hearing more about the atmosphere at St. Andrew’s. The pre match build up was very good - Mr. Blue Sky on a crystal clear Monday evening for goodness sake :) - but we should acknowledge that from 20 minutes onwards their fans were the best we’ve heard in seasons. I also had a cracking walk back through Digbeth with them and had to resist their determination to buy me a pint. I saw one item tossed (not thrown) from the tier above and frankly it was aimed at an idiot to the left of me who had been looking for it for an hour and finally got what he wanted. Heard some claims post match but Wrexham fans were challenging other Wrexham fans on that and it struck me as just the sort of BS people use after a defeat to try and provoke an issue. Credit also to the stewards and police who were all friendly and helpful. Makes such a difference.
    Some random thoughts:
    - weak point at the back was again O’Connor - gave them free crosses at key moments - but it was compounded by forcing McLean into the team at wing back. Continues to make us look like a one winger team at best and last night it cost a goal.
    - Rathbone was poor/headless again. We looked far better when Cannon came on but it strikes me that we’d have looked just as good much earlier had we started with McClean in the midfield.
    - disappointed to hear the view that Revan looked better than Mendy. Thought both looked great and Mendy brought Lee into the game in a way that neither McClean nor Rathbone had. The last third changes of Revan, Cannon, Mendy and Mullin could have been much more significant if made much earlier.
    - you know I’m not his greatest fan and he probably takes a hit for the first two goals, but, I really didn’t think Arthur could be blamed for the last one. That was just a perfect hit and sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and acknowledge it.
    - yes Birmingham were next level but to an extent they were no better than the first 15 from Bolton. Thd difference was we let Birmingham play whereas at Bolton we made early changes and fixed the issue. Suspect here that 0-1 wrongly papered over the fact we had the same issue.
    - I’m getting increasingly irate at how accessibility is being handled in away games. Fans on crutches and unable to stand located behind two rows of people with no issues who then stand throughout and block the view. Zero consideration from our fans but also clearly some very strange organisational issues.

When SPM is fully fit - he starts with Ollie next to him. That's how Parky has designed it and how it works. Ollie is absolutely vital to attacking on set plays and defending against set plays.. Jack is an excellent strength to have off the bench to spell them. Nothing harsh about it. Not ready to concede we lose to BC at home. Learn and grow from the loss. Hope both teams are still bright stars on the stage when they meet again.

You could waffle on about this game all day however putting some perspective on it
The match turned from a L1 match into a massive occasion
Monday night away, owners, celebrities, Sky TV and social hyping the game up
I thought the occasion got the better of our well oiled team and looked a little all over the place
Birmingham came together and rose to the occasion
As good as Birmingham looked they had 6 shots on target
Will we meet another team this season that pulls us all over the pitch, make us look that uncomfortable and have that much quality on the pitch to score 3 goals from 6 shots
    Will we bounce back, yes
Will they look this good and on fire all season, maybe maybe not
    A great season ahead
Personally I wouldn’t criticise players individual performance as the team was pulled all over the pitch and that simply happens on occasion

He has a fully different celebration with someone he sees as a peer than one he might feel as a leader of them. He is a great leader of the team, clearly, even if he has an edgy vibe with some situations. If you watch his body language you can tell he is such a leader and mentor in his own right.

100 percent it would work mulls and marriott, problem it would go against parky's thought process that we need a more physical threat, so i dont think we will see that combination. If we dont , mullin has to start ahead of marriott. Also last night night our midfield was over run, as our wingbacks were constantly on the back foot and hardly crossed the opposition half. When we playing the set up we are, the wingbacks have to get forward more , or our midfield 3 are in trouble.
