A Tale of Three Thrones: Choosing the Right Seat For Your Set

  • In some of my other videos I talked about upgrading your kit and the things I've learned, and I got a lot of comments saying I needed to talk about thrones. I always felt that was important enough for its own video. In this clip I take a budget throne, a high-priced premium throne, and a mid-range gig-worthy throne and compare the pros and cons. You definitely get what you pay for!

I love this topic. Seems so mundane and is easy to take your seat for granted until you spend years on them.

The throne is easily the most slept-on piece of drum gear, but it definitely has the most impact on your health and longevity. Thanks for watching!

Im happy with my Mapex. 4 legged base with bicycle seat and backrest. Sturdy and comfortable. I paid $130.

Sounds like another excellent option, and a great price!

Should have gotten a roc n soc, you'll never regret it! I messed around for years not wanting to spend the money, waste of time and literally a pain in the a**.
I have two tripod bases with with threaded height adjustment so I never have to be without one. I was lucky enough to get them both used, so I didn't pay full price.

As long as the cushions still support and everything's in working order, used is a great way to get a lot of throne for not so much money, especially nowadays. Thanks for watching!

Seems you are not aware that the Roc n Soc comes with a collapsible tripod base.

There are models that do, yes. This is not one of those models.

@@alsdrumhang so the point of the video moot. Buy the regular tripod Roc n Soc and everything you said about the two thrones you have is irrelevant.

@@iRideuWatch Welp, you got me. Deleting the video now. I yield to your superior logic. 😁

@@alsdrumhang seems like you're having a hard time understanding what I'm saying. Imagine you are a new drummer and you don't know about the Roc n Soc and you want throne that can fold up. If all they had to go by was your video they would think the Roc n Soc is out because those legs that don't collapse. It's misleading. The vast majority of people who use Roc n Soc use the tripod base not the one you have. Just remake the video man.

@@iRideuWatch I'm discussing three specific thrones I happen to own. I'm discussing the pros and cons of *those thrones*. At no time do I say that *all* Roc n Socs have immobile bases, and I call out the specific model several times. Sorry you feel that it's such an egregious oversight, but thanks for watching.
