Part of the reason I liked 2 much less than the original was that a lot of scenes and heart-to-hearts involving the main cast were focused much more on comic relief and playing off of a few already established character traits instead of developing new ones and adding depth. All of the characters felt very shallow and gimmicky and I couldn't really connect with any of them. While most of the Blade quests were decent, I didn't like them as much as XBC1's sidequests because in 1 I feel like there was more of a human element to them, and many of them focus on relationships between NPCs that are built up over multiple quests whereas XBC2 Blade quests usually focus on the central personality quirk of the Blade in question and don't really go any deeper than that. Because you only get one quest per Blade, up until that point they have to sell you on their character through design and voice lines alone, and there's a limited palette of things you can do with that. That would be fine if the Blade quests added more depth to each of the Blades' personalities, but none of them do imo, they just continue to hammer in the 2-3 surface level traits that are established right away. tldr; xenoblade 2 bad lmao
The running-healing skill is helpful exactly BECAUSE there are health potions everywhere. When you run to collect a potion, you heal even more because of that skill.
There is one thing notable for me about Kora, and that's that I was able to use her Lockpicking to open a chest with a Glass Chip near Varnax's Plunge, despite still only being in Chapter 2. That definitely made the early-game go a lot faster since it gave about twice the auto-attack stat of any other Core Chips I was able to get for a while.
Time for another FUN FACT (this time I'll give... two?) 1. Kora's heart-to-heart features the most characters with Kora, Pandora, Brighid, Pyra, Poppi α, and Mythra. 2. (Tbh this is more a fact about me than anything else, lol) Kora's heart-to-heart has one of my favourite line's of dialogue in the game: "Poppi not born yesterday. But not much more long ago than yesterday. So not really understand"
"You wouldnt be switching to kora for any reason" Me: Grateful to heal any HP while running around, thankful I have little to no aggro, picking up the potions --not contributing-- as _someone_ once said, keeping both myself and the other party members alive. I throw out a special if I can from time to time so I can race around the field at mach speeds.
I love how you'd think her version of the knuckle claws would be like an electric pom-pom or something but nope, it's just a giant metal fist that doesn't match her design at all. Idk why but that's so funny to me.
They could have made Stop Thinking a more coherent skill in multiple ways: 1. Make ALL her specials multihit. All of them. They could have gotten away with it too, lore wise (she's a knuckle claw, she's an electric blade, she seems to be really fast???) I'm thinking 4, 8, 16, 16/8 (see a pattern?) 2. Give a longer duration to the effect so it feels worth it to risk a 20% chance to fail. Maybe 4 or 5 seconds? 3. The reason I said 4 or 5 seconds in number 2; let the effect stack per hit. Also, Kora could have her potion skill updated to include some form of additive damage involving the potions.
@@ShadowSkyX only by potion additive, I think if they'd designed her like this she'd have been more friendly to players who had a hard time with bosses or BoC challenge mode (But then again only DLC blades were designed with challenge mode in mind)
I mostly just send her as a merc mission leader. It's pretty funny. Makes sense why, she's got no real purpose. She can't heal effectively, she can't deal proper damage, she can't tank, she's just in a weird position.
I used her for basically my entire playthrough because she's fun... I did notice she was less useful and powerful even in casual regular play compared to my other used blades, but I hadn't realized I was crippling myself that much. ... I'll probably still use her next playthrough!
I came back to XC2 after a couple starts and stops since it came out, I stuck with it this time and am at 125 hours still on first playthrough. Your video have been great. For the life of me I can't figure out how you get those close ups of the blades with the camera.
so after putting off seeing this video for 7 days (not a Kora fan), but its been long enough, lets do the usual Potion Hearder - Party Skill - Extend Potion Duration Time & Raises Crit% for Potion taken by 5% (Max 30%) (and yes, Im saying additive) Walking Joy - Passive Skill - Restore 7.5% Max HP every Second while Moving & Increase Combat Walking Speed by 100% Stop Thinking - Active Skill - 70% Chance to stop the enemy from Acting for 3 Sec (so yeah, Im adding canceling their current action or re-action also it stops special gauge, and if it activates on a launched enemy, well, itll be stopped on time in the air) note, as mentioned before, one mechanic change I would make is making so one does not lose stacks from skills on changing Blades edit: also that I changed the effect of "% chance of attacking again when auto attacking" to "% chance of repeating action again" with the main difference being that it applies to all, auto attacks, arts, specials, not combos tough, but only doing 50% of the original attacks damage, but if it triggers on arts or specials it also has the same effect as those arts or specials So I cant say I did a good job here, I also did mention Im not a Kora fan, so I focused on what a Knuckle Claw is ment to be more, an attacking healer with high crit, then give slightly more untility on skills by doubling combat walking speed, and if anything the last one is one I can sort of being more to her personality, but still doesnt feel right, yet its what I feel could make her stand out above common Blades which is something I actually want from Rare Blades, which is also why I make this comments, to give bad rare Blades an overhaul to make them stand out, and also make the broken more broken
Clearly aux core slots are made to accentuate the power difference between blades rather than for balancing. Why else would all the worst blades be given one and all the best get three?
@@wesnohathas1993 Aside from the sheer joy of watching Enel break down the pros and cons of each blade, i.e. that this series of videos is interesting in its own right, it is nice that Enel shows how to maximize the potential of weaker blades for those of us who like them as characters. But you can't deny that some blades have TERRIBLE affinity charts and some have INCREDIBLE ones with top notch skills. And you didn't deny this. But I don't see how the aux cores _accentuate_ the difference when it is already so pronounced in some cases. So the answer to the "Why?" question really boils down to, "What if someone likes the character?" Kora's not a personal favorite of mine, but I wish Dromarch was a lot stronger.
The difference between low tiers and top tiers is insane in xenoblade. In most tier lists, B tier is a pretty solid character with a good amount of strengths, and they can beat out a top tier if used with a good build and good execution. But in this game, B tier is basically trash compared to the top tiers. (Good thing kora is a really annoying character anyways)

Here's 2 things to show just how little I know about this game. Kora is one of the main rare blades I use I have no clue what that big number in the middle of the screen means
I have a question about critical modifiers on specials, does the amount they increase your critical rate by change if you have Fiora buffing your critical rate
I find it really sad to think about how forgettable kora’s passives really are, especially her “stop thinking” skill if they just lowered the activation rate to 70%, allowed her arts to activate this as well and extended the duration to 10 seconds, this could give her a unique strategy of locking the enemy in place without driver combos And her potion hoarder skill should also increase the size of all hp potions dropped to at least give her some better healing to go with those hp potions that just sit on the ground for over a minute
Stop Thinking sounds very similar to that one skill Finch has that I can't remember the name of (the one that resets cooldowns) in which it sounds like it should be good but actually isn't. Also, can we just talk about how Kora has the worst personality of the entire roster? *I hate it so much.*
I think that she is still useful if you ever need AI controlled Nia for her launch art on the Photon DoT. But I guess Tora might always be a better option.
Ok, it turns out I was completely wrong on this. I’ve just beaten poisoned paradise on BoC. I had to replace Tora with Nia because he kept dying due to swimming suit not available on QTpi. ( of course also because I am not very good at this game.) I also found out that Kora is almost impossible to use because of her only 2 Aux slot. Finally I went with a thunder common blade of knuckle claws with 3 Aux slot to beat the challenge. Another example of why common blades are awesome. lol
How to use Kora: Get your potions on the ground with her and then just swap to Crossette, collect all of them and just kill everything with Crossette. Thanks have a nice day
Having Herald and Pandoria in the same elemental class sure doesn't fit too well with Kora. She can definitely have a great party with piece of s*it Godf- I mean almighty Godfrey.

Some blades really should have been given four or five aux core slots so you could justify using them.
