This video helped immensely, especially running wire into trunk hatch

I am glad that I found this, I was getting ready to pull the head liner down. this looks like a better way to install the camera wiring

Why didn't you run the wires down the right (passenger) side of the car? It seems you'd use less wire getting up to the top of the hatch.

Just wondering why you didn't route the wire down the passenger's side of the vehicle instead of the driver's side?

I tried the passenger side. I think the wiper fluid tubing is routed through there, so the panels at the thresholds are much more difficult to remove. The wire that came with my camera is too short anyway, so I have to do a splice and I’m running up the drivers side.

Where was your camera pointing when you took off the backdoor panel ?

At 9:02? He’s standing under the open tailgate with the camera facing towards the front of the car and looking up slightly.

Was trying this out on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe w/ plug-in bu camera that has red bypass wire. I pulled apart the light connector harness off the rt backup light, stuffed the red wire in with the blue wire on the side connected to power, tossed the video connector thru the car and plugged it in to test it. Success! I then reconnected the power and light connectors together to see if the back-up lights were working along w the camera. I then noticed that the right license plate light and right back-up lights no longer work. (Maybe they were both not working, but that seems pretty coincidental.) I removed the right license plate light and found the bulb filament was gone. I then took the known-good left license plate light bulb and put it into the right lamp and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions as to what may have happened and how to fix this?

How come ours doesn't have a parking assist guide under camera settings on a avh-2440nex? The camera automatically has parking assist that i can't adjust

How did you make the wireing longer

At 5:00 into the video you mention that the red wire can be used as the trigger wire.
In my setup (2012 Santa Fe) I have the red wire in the front wired into a Pioneer AVH-1300NEX and I have the back red wire and black wire spliced into the reverse lights in the back hatch. I did not run a dedicated ACC line through the trim since I only cared to have video when reversing.
The issue I’m seeing is that when I reverse, it pulls up the camera, but no video is transmitted - the picture is black. Prior to installing the Pioneer I had a Joying stereo and it didn’t have this issue.
I also experimented with running an ACC line through the cabin into the red wire at the back, and this caused the video feed to work but of course breaks the triggering mechanism.
Any suggestions? Do I need to go back and run a dedicated ACC line?

I have this issue with my pioneer too, except my camera worked before with the same wiring setup and now it doesnt and I tried different cameras. Did you ever get yours to work?

@@shivam220 haha, funny you ask. I left it not working for the last 2 years, then last month I finally went to Best Buy and paid them to install a new camera, and it worked fine. They also pointed to 3 different areas I'd unintentionally crimped my old video line, and my guess is that the old stereo I had was okay with the lower quality signal and the Pioneer wasn't. It's working perfectly now.

@@brismuth Ahh gotcha, I think it might be from cheap cameras I am using? What camera did you buy?

Camera isn’t getting power. Check your connections and ensure the camera is getting power.
