Awesome video Ramsey! I’m so glad you are covering Tauer Perfumes! It has recently become my favorite niche house. Andy creates such unique and amazing fragrances in my opinion. Love the three I own LDDM, Lonestar Memories and Sundowner. Look forward to exploring some more of his work. LDAS is probably next on my list for a freshy. 🍻🐏

When you said you focus on houses you have more perfumes of that is exactly what I thought when I saw this video pop up in my feed, I did not expect to see this video for a while if at all to be honest, and unfortunately I haven't tried many of his fragrances but your opinions always make me want to try new things.
Tauer is a solid house for sure.. you will be hearing more about this house on the channel in 2024 🥂💪🐏

@@RamseytheRam Very distinct tuberose, and a hint of lemon candies. Keep in mind I just put it on, so i expect it to change in the next few hours. Hope the wood notes come through.
I have a full bottle of Golestan and really like it, but it doesn’t seem to be that popular with other fragheads.

What I love about Tauer is that he provides top-notch quality at an affordable price for fragrance lovers. LDDM was 125 EUR for like 10 years (maybe longer), and now the price has gone up to an astonishing 130 EUR :D lol. The same juice in a Roja bottle would be called Roja Superb Haut Luxe and cost 3k with a darker purple cap in my opinion :))"

Thoroughly enjoyed this review, Ramsey - thanks! Andy Tauer is a genius. I love love love LDDM and Incense Rose' but I just bought a bottle of Phi Rose de Kandahar last week and it's so sublime that I'm not sure anymore which I love best. Can't wait for you to review RdK and see what you think - oh and Rose Flash too - which I have yet to get my big, greedy, thrill seeking nose on. We fellow perfume addicts have some serious issues to say the least! 😅

PFM and initiio are all designer. Too much corporate buyout. I can handle 2 from each brand and that’s it.

So glad to see someone else loves Incense Extreme. It’s such a wild and different style of incense. It’s so unique. I also love how it does in the heat. The ambergris is so subtle and the softness of the orris makes the sour spice from that coriander manageable.
also, Lonestar is in my top 3 of all time with Habit Rouge and Amouage Gold Man.
It’s crazy how much my Tauer collection has grown over the last few years. I now have those mentioned, lddm, and sundowner and I end up wearing Tauer more than anything these days. I have gone through my decants of Au Couer, and will definitely get a bottle for my next birthday.
Tauer is the best 😊
I really love how Tauer uses that Ambergris accord ... I am pretty sure it's an an accord and not real Ambergris... but it's so good 👍🏻
@@RamseytheRam Has Andy said if it is an accord? I know he has said that he tailors his ambergris scents specifically around each batch of ambergris that he buys. If it is an accord, it’s the best one I have ever accounted.
Either way, I love it. It reminds me of the its use in Orange Star, which I have and absolutely love.
@@cityslacker6221 I honestly don't know ... it's a guess...if it's real he has been able to keep the most consistency of any real Ambergris used over long periods of time and different fragrances
Can't wait to start this video. I have been interested in this house for a while but would have thought you had more from them considering how much you like them. But actually I wanted to impart some good news (if I have not told you this yet) I believe you said you haven't tried Aromatics elixir,or haven't tried the vintage. Well I have and the vintage is amazing ( got a sample from Johannah) . Knocked my socks off maybe even better than Aramis 900 . Anyway I heard it so much better than modern bottle so I knew I'd have to pay alot for it. But then I recently heard that just super recently in 2023 they reformulated Aromatics elixir to be like the vintage again and even super picky fans love the new reformulation. Or as I call it "reformulation redemption" and Aromatics elixir is pretty cheap so you can enjoy a 2023 bottle with vintage smell at a cheap price and not pay to much or risk it being spoiled. Anyway just thought I'd give you that piece of news . Now I'm going to watch the rest of this video. Oh, and happy New year,Ram.

Great overview and very similar to my personal rating. I also like AC and his reviews (hopefully he's comming back soon) and I also rarely do not agree with his review of LADDM. Lonestar Memories was my first purchase of 2024. Love it!

As I continue to sample fragrances, I think Tauer is becoming my favorite house. I love everything I’ve smelled so far(even if it takes me a few wears for it to click). You mentioned getting Sundowner for a good price…are there secondary marketplaces(other than Mercari) that you would recommend?
Ebay and mercari are really the two main ones I have used in the past

I love both the Desert perfumes, found L'oudh a bit too difficult for me. But yes, you're right, if a perfume could speak and tell a story, paint a picture... it'd be Lonestar memories. It's art in a bottle!

I always think I’d love to see what would happen if you took the ingredients from some of these artisanal houses and combined them with the skill of a master perfumer. I guess that’s sort of what Les Indemodables is to a degree, but I’d really love to see what Dominique Ropion or Pierre Bourdon could do with the ingredients of something like Bortnikoff or Ensar…
It would cost like a car🚦
I would say not much because they have zero experiene on working with those materials.
I would think they would be way out of their element
Yeah I believe they would struggle to get the most out of them as much of it is about the process of creating the raw oil from these amazing ingredients. It’s all about the nuances and dealing with them on a consistent basis to really appreciate them fully. Of course the could do better than most but dealing solely with synthetics is so different than naturals.
To be fair, trained perfumers are called so for a reason and for a reason they spent their first year studying naturals. I'm pretty sure trained perfumers would do better than 99.999999999% of indies. All these self proclaimed unicorns don't even pay much attention to the evaporation curve of the ingredients, their stuff falls apart in the middle of the road, it's too harsh and unbalanced. I totally agree with Rich Mitch on this topic.
Incense Rose is my most fave (and i tested the others) ... very wearable, yet very refined

That phase is my experience also. At one point I have 300+ designer / niche perfumes, I then tried war and peace, then followed by Miyako from Auphoire and one from Prin and that was it. I now have exactly 11 designer frags and about 6 niche everything I now own is indie / super niche and I couldn’t be happier.
I love everything but lately I have been loving the artisnal houses

So far my favorite is au coeur du désert but i have sampled lonestar Memories and i need a full bottle. Its a great fragrance. I need to try sundowner i love tobacco frags. Great reviews

Would you associate sundowner with the smell of Christmas? I don't like the smell of Christmas, but I would want to buy this one blindbuy. Would you recommend a blindbuy purchase? I have many other Tauers already. Thanks:)
Not a traditional smell of Christmas but it has that Ambery Tobacco many wear during the colder months...hope this helps 🙏🙏🙏
One of my very favorites of Andy Tauer is PHI, also known as Une Rose de Kandahar. It is one of the most beautiful rose fragrances ever IMMHO. Another really good one that I believe was a limited edition and no longer around was Zeta, and I cherish what remains in my bottle.

I love Lone Star Memories and I also love Lonesome Rider. Andy Tauer’s most recent perfume was Nexin, which is also a limited edition but I was given the opportunity to purchase it. Unfortunately, due to my circumstances, which I know you have heard me talk about Aud Nauseam, was Nexin. I wish I could have afforded it.
One day things will be different... I have not smelled Nexin yet ...soon🙏
@@RamseytheRam I have heard mostly good things about Nexin for the most part. However, it is a limited edition and more expensive than most Tauer perfumes. Also, even though I care only about the juice, that white bottle was awesome and pretty innovated.
Tauer is amazing, I wish I could have gotten the full collection, but it’s all blind buy, nowhere to sample so I’m acquiring slowly. So far I have L'Air des Alpes Suisses, Sundowner, two bottles of Au Coeur du Désert (Au Coeur du Desert), two bottles of L'Air du Désert Marocain. More content like this about the artisanal houses, amazing stuff!

Great! I need to get Lonestar Memories. I love two not on your list - PHI Un Rose de Kandahar and Les Anneés 25 (the original version - not smelled the 'bis' version). Btw he never reformulates. He told me so himself a few years ago to settle an online dispute and before he left social media because of people moaning about non- existent reformulations and other bs.

LDDM and Lonestar Memories are special, niche at its best. I loved Sundowner too, ADDM. Andy Tauer is amazing and he has lots of qualitative releases. The only thing I could see him improving it’s the bottles. The design is beautiful, but the bottle quality is bad, the cap, the sprayer, they need drastic improvements. Cheers! Cheers buddy,love the ranking,I got L’oud early in my fragrance collection building and did not take to it at all ,now well it’s a horse of a different color lol 😂 really enjoy it ,however there is one you have not in the collection but may have tried it ?,it’s Phtalo Blue (spelling sucks lol ) and I just cannot get on with it ,memories of school swimming classes with overdoses of Chlorine 😢 horrible stuff chlorine 😂,anyways it sucks imo,interested in your thoughts if you tried it ?? I think Andy Tauer has been around longer than 2005. I purchased perfume from him before 2005 , but perhaps it wasn’t until 2005 when one could find perfume on line. Andy Tauer is the real deal. I regret not purchasing his most recent creation as I did have the opportunity to do so, but could not afford to.

Ambrosia is my favorite Sherwood... Gentleman is my least favorite... its a good summer time fragrance its just light on me with that Green Tea note... let me know what you make of them 😁
How has wearing L’oudh around other ppl gone for you? I love it, reminds me of being in my uncle’s car shop as a kid- tires, turpentine, thick black oil. Or a Mad Max character having a leather jacket soaked in gasoline. Friends and family always pull away with an “ugh wtf are you wearing!”
I was trying to put my finger on what other perfume it brings to mind, I get Fumidus, though without the whiskey accord giving it sweetness. This is even more unapologetic, almost hostile

I've bought his Vanilla Flash in his Zurich store in 2015, and it is my number 1 vanilla fragrance in my entire collection. Glad you check him out.

Solid house!!! All these niche houses releasing crap should juxtapose themselves to the houses like Tauer before releasing another tasteless fragrance and think again if the world needs more crap.
Trying every single one from Tauer and Profumum Roma is #1 priority in a new year.
But I'm surprised that you put L'oudh so high... especially knowing that you have smelled some really good ouds and Ensar's work. I mean it's good for what it is, but on the other hand it's pretty much an oud dominant composition and for the same money you can get much much much better oud oil.
I just really love L'Oudh... that fragrance could be a daily driver for me 🚗

Please drop the S from ambergris when pronouncing it. I know they is a dickish thing to say as it’s totally your preference it just really bugs me I’m sorry 🙏
With the S is the proper way to pronounce it actually. It’s the YT free bottle brigade that doesn’t know how to pronounce it properly and perpetuates the incorrectness. 😅
There is actually a guy who wrote a book on Ambergris and he says the S should be pronouned 🤷🏻♂️

@@mahaNo23 this is not incorrect. In American English, it’s pronounced amber-griss, and in British English it’s pronounced amber-grease. And it was used in the context of an American English sentence so Ambergris with an S would be correct. ☺️
