      O que fode de fato é o jeitinho brasileiro, essa corrupção cultural. O povo acha que isso não é problema, que não é problema aceitar troco errado (pra mais) e não dizer nada mas o que acontece quando as pessoas que cresceram nisso chegam em posições de poder? Imensa corrupção e o povo dá conta de achar que é culpa de partido A ou partido B, pior ainda quando falam que tudo é culpa de fulano ou ciclano. Como que o Brasil avança se um dos principais traços culturais é a merda da corrupção?

    • @csmth96
      @csmth96 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Impossible. The bigger the Qing Empire (or Chinese as an Empire) is, the less stable it will be. It will not stand the wave of nationalism because of its own culture. Japan would stand a much better chance, because it is small enough.

      @Dario Constitutional Monarchy has ambiguous meaning. One is UK Constitutional Monarchy. One is Prussian (or Thailand currently) Constitutional Monarchy, which has both weakness of Constitutional (many talks and delayed actions in parliament) and Monarchy (abrupt intervention when King is threatened). Japan is a special case because Japan lost WW2 and USA make sure that the Emperor can never rule. Japan must listen to USA as long as Japan is not self-sufficient. If Japan is as bigger than Qing, Japan could at some point decide not to listen to USA and start a second Meiji restoration against so-call "American imperialism". That will eventually degraded to Prussian or Thailand Constitutional Monarchy. In real history, Qing made a cabinet at its last few year but that cabinet is controlled by imperial members. Aristocrats like Bismarck cannot say even a word. If that could function like Prussian or Thailand cabinet, that is extremely lucky.

    • @voidvector
      @voidvector 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Qing would probably still collapse as it did IRL. However, Qing was really good a resettling people, Manchuria and Dzungaria (northern Xinjiang) being two great examples of this. So the speculation in the video that Siberia would be more populated would probably be right.

    For example, the Sultan is able to abolish the janissaries when they became corrupt and refused to modernise due to the fear of being replaced by a modern army.

    I disagree with several points of the video:
    You said that it took only 40 years to conquer all of siberia but it was just establishing small outposts on the southern siberian border. Northern parts weren't even touched until late XIX century and biggest towns in northern siberia didn't exist until Soviet Union
    I agree that overall china might had bigger presence in siberia but I don't think it would be spread that far away, since while China could establish outposts, there are really not much they could extract from that land and relatively small areas with good farmable land are going located after barely controlled mostly nomadic mongolic states.
    You didn't mentioned quite interesting possibility of English Siberia: after Richard Chancellor en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Chancellor established contact with Russia, English merchants started bigger trading until protectionist policies of stars ended it. English could seize it as protectorate and, as you mentioned, during hunt for fur push further into Siberia
    You also didn't mentioned that Kazan didn't had resources to push into existed khanate of Siberia and as well manage to defeat all of it enemies in Astrakhan and Crimea who all pretended for restoration of Golden Horde, so I rather expect Siberia be more similar to Africa in XIX century: with several nomadic states, tribes and a lot of land (most of which is I need frozen) unless as I mentioned, English will use power vacuum and push from both Canada and White Sea to claim all Arctic.

      Then tbe empire could stand a chance against Napoleon, probably not winning of course but weakening him enough for either him being overthrown like in our timeline or just forcing the guy to "play nice" with the other powers instead of lording all over Europe after losing part of his army
      2- Get China to modernize(or at least for Japan to be a less terrible invader), you could get that by saying that a colonized Siberia would butterfly away the later bad dinasties or take a page from Whatifalthist's "What if Japan became catholic?" for a chinese-japanese alliance with open trade with the West

    The USSR not only held much of these regions together, and brought then up in standard of living, equal opportunity etc., the USSR also managed to keep much of the historic ethnic tension and rivalries relatively at bay. Post-USSR, as we saw, these regions/States almost immediately began waging ethnic based wars agasint oneanother.

      @@amrahmed7856 While an interesting question in theory, it isn’t as world altering as many would think.
      The reason Russia was so adamant about selling Alaska to the US was because it was an financial drain on their economy, and was in a difficult to defend position. But more importantly, there was two possible outcomes for said colony in the near future. Either it is purchased by another power, or it it is conquered.
      The Russians did not have the resources to defend Alaska, and even if they did, they wouldn’t want to. It was thousands of miles away from the nearest Russian fleet in the Black Sea (they had a Pacific fleet, but it was very small), and the eastern border of Alaska had few natural defenses, with the Yukon river likely serving as a corridor straight into the heart of their territory (the river begins in Canada).
      The British and the Americans were the two most likely candidates for either scenario. Selling it would be most desirable, as they could recoup some loss on relatively worthless land. If they sold it to the UK, who already had a land border on Alaska, they could easily undercut prices in negotiation, or just outright take it in a proxy war (as example Crimean War), with Russia barely benefiting from this British scenario, and the UK only growing stronger regardless.
      The British were a bitter rival of Russia, and they would stand to benefit immensely from a worldly perspective, gaining a greater control of Pacific trade and blocking the Russian presence in said trade. The US however was not an enemy of Russia, nor did they have the military power to take Alaska by force, and would be more willing to pay larger sums due its strategic position between Canada, Siberia, and the Arctic.
      The Russians tried selling Alaska to the US during the Civil War, but obviously the US was too busy to really negotiate, so they waited for the war to conclude before finishing the deal.
      That is why Alaska was sold to the US, which isn’t all that different to why Napoleon sold the United States the Louisiana territory.
      The only alternate history scenario worth considering is a British takeover, either by purchase or force, which in my opinion would only nominally affect world history. The Cold War, as example, would still have an ice curtain, only this time between the Soviets and Canada.
      A history where Russia not only does not sell Alaska but somehow manages to keep it is honestly too unbelievable to happen without radically altering history further, such as artificially strengthening Russia, weakening the UK (perhaps by them not even conquering Canada in the first place) or somehow make them close allies with a stake in Russia’s presence in North America, all of which would require immense changes to the timeline.
      Personally, I could see them selling Alaska to Japan as a more likely scenario to them keeping it all the way through the Cold War. It be like asking “what if France kept Louisiana?”, interesting on paper, but in practice likely means a history that isn’t nearly as interesting as one may think (and if you’re wondering about the Louisiana question, I think the UK or Spain would have occupied it in that scenario).

    The ottomans did not colonise the Somalia like it says in the map,they tried to set up shop in berbera but left after a few years because it wasn’t working out,and the omanis most definitely did not control the Somali coast they controlled the Swahili coast which Somalia is not a part of,they had a buisness representative in Mogadishu which they had to pay the Somali sultan to even keep there.
