I’ve smoked for 40 years and never even tried to give up my kids who are adults now and my husband have begged me to give up , and 7 weeks ago I just made my mind up to give up ,I had my last cigarette and never told anybody because I didn’t think I could do it and really surprised myself at how easy I found it .you just have to make your mind up .my whole family are so proud of me and are so supportive and I’m proud of myself my hubby has decorated the whole house . It’s gonna be more difficult when friends come round but I’m strong 💪 so come on people you can do it xx

Found this fascinating!! I gave up 6.5 years ago. I’m ashamed to say I absolutely loved smoking. I was rarely seen without a cigarette in hand and people knew me for it. How awful. I can’t believe I’ve given up - it’s huge. Feel like I could have a cigarette at times of stress and when I see people smoking on tv I want one. Find that so annoying. But the feeling soon passes when I stop and think how far I have come - and the stubbornness inside me doesn’t want to undo 6.5 years of hard work. I’m proud to tell people I no longer smoke.
But I will forever have sympathy for anyone wanting to give up - it’s so hard and I understand fully why people struggle and keep going back to it. Loved this video - Thanks for this xxxx

Started smoking at school at 14, all my friends did, we thought it was so cool, the shop at the top of the road sold single cigs to school kids!! Gave up when I was 22 when I met my husband, so proud of myself and never missed it. My 21 year old son smokes, his friends smoke, that’s how it starts, wish he didn’t but what can I say, just hope he gives up before he gets much older and it takes a grip

I used to smoke menthol whilst chewing gum too. I couldn’t smoke a cig unless I was drinking or chewing gum. I’m 54 now and loved smoking but gave up so many times but finally kicked it for good 10 yrs ago. Such a hard habit.

I still can’t believe I’ve done it either, now you say that!!!
It feels as big a rite of passage as a driving test or first pay check as I look back 20yrs on...
I was a 5-in-bed-before-I-got-up person, began at 8 with my older brother, emptying buts to roll an old dry wreck to tide me over till morning & driving 2h up the motorway at 4am to get them from service stations. Jesus, so hard; but when it’s time, it’s TIME. I had a heartbreak in life and rage in my belly & with Alain Carr’s book I did it. So if I can so can anyone ✨🌱❤️🌱✨as you say.
....Great talk guys. Heartful & helpful for all those bravely embarking on this now....

Thank you for making this video, I asked for advice on the live on how to quit. I'm sure it wont be easy but definitely something I need to do. Finding the "want" is harder. I'm 23 I've smoked for about 5 years, I've always said I'll just stop when I want to have children. I think your absolutely right it's all mental, and about distraction. Really going to think about my plan now. Xx

I gave up smoking after seeing Allen Carr for a hypnotherapy session at his house in Raynes Park in the late 80s. I remember him saying that actually it was easy to stop, it was like taking off a pair of too tight shoes. I left thinking, well that was interesting but it didn't work. Later that night I realised that I actually hadn't had a cigarette even though I had several duty free packets in my flat. A few years later I did start again, but knew I could stop because I had once before, plus I was living in Australia by then and as you mention, they have hard-hitting public health campaigns, and it was an ad that showed a glammed up woman going out for the evening, smoking with every drink, then coming home, taking her make-up off and brushing her teeth - a loud voice saying 'you can't brush your lungs clean.' Every time I brushed my teeth I heard this. So I stopped and know I can never have even one cigarette, though I strangely still get the odd strong craving. Really, if I can do it, I believe anyone can.

I gave up for 15 years and started being a social smoker or so I thought! I then smoked for 5 years and only gave up when I had a really bad chest infection and even then I lit up a cigarette and had a throat sweet with it 🤷‍♀️. It then really hurt to take a drag and I didn't have a cigarette for 4 days and then decided I'm going to keep going. I haven't smoked now for 4 years and I'm so pleased I gave up not only for health reasons but have you seen the price of them???😱😱. Shocking. Brilliant vlog guys, love you two. 💖. Xx

Gave up 8 years ago after being told I had COPD ( I later found out I didn’t) but from that moment on never touched another cigarette. Best thing I ever did but so wish I had never started. I've noticed that my age group (25-35) do not smoke generally, but the younger generation and teens are picking it back up again. I think the anti-smoking campaigns of the 90's and 00's worked wonders, but the younger kids now are not exposed to the same level of anti-smoking sentiment.

@@Sarah-ft8jr You are right about actual cigarettes. I'm grouping in Vaping as well. Also, Maybe its the socioeconomic conditions of where I live. Vaping is so popular to the point of an epidemic with the younger crowd, not so much cigarettes. My teacher friends are constantly taking Juuls off students. Its so bad, that even the Federal Gov considered banning flavors.
